Seconded, I'd love to see those notes.
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
The board is a great idea as is the posting of your organisation notes.

However, may I suggest also moving some selected threads of past community marathons here for completeness? I'm mainly thinking about a few of the ESA2012 threads which might have relevance for the future until ESA13 has happened. See the spoiler for those threads which I came across quickly skimming the Gaming Discussion board (omitting those that I perceive to be highly irrelevant).
On the other hand, knowing you there's probably a really good reason why you didn't (other than laziness), which I just don't see, because I'm too stupid and simple-minded ^^'

I think it would be a great idea for the notes to be posted up.

It certainly helped me out a lot!

Alko, if you or someone else posts the links then I'll add the ESA threads here.

Re: the notes: I'll likely post them sometime this weekend then. I think they're mostly good as is, but they do need some cleaning up.

sorry for so many links but organization would help when planning future marathons

Moved all of those threads to the community marathons board.
Final Fantasy VII Fanatic
My 2 cents on this. If you don't have a section for marathons a user might not where post them, if they post them let's say in the "General" video game area it could be over looked and not posted in or even fall off to other pages and be missed!

Yep I posted those notes this weekend alright. https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/general_marathon_tips.html

I'm as usual late to the party. This is a great help and very appreciated gesture from the SDA-crew. Sharing experiences will hopefully improve the overall quality of community marathon. And it makes it so much easier spreading information having one centralized fourm.

Thank you.
Moo! Flap! Hug!
I was wondering if it would be a good idea to make some sort of thread on this board where SDA members can post to "advertise" if they're participating in an upcoming non-SDA marathon?  Or, would you prefer that such posts be kept to the "Live Streaming" board, where such things have traditionally been posted under the runner's individual thread?

Edenal: Hey I'm replying late, so we're even. Yeah, I think organizing the community marathons all into one forum is for the best.

Poxnor: Yeah, we could make a sticky topic for that sort of thing. What would the title be?
Moo! Flap! Hug!
Uhh, I dunno.  I'm no writer Tongue

"SDA Members Participating in Non-SDA Marathons"?

(Though I now have this vision of you stroking a Persian cat, coming up with evil over-the-top punishments for SDA members participating in non-SDA marathons, then posting those punishments in this thread... Wink )

Dang I thought I said during my marathon talk thread I liked other marathons. D:
Moo! Flap! Hug!
I'm guessing it's nice for you to get to watch a marathon without having to plan and organize it Smiley

Thanks for agreeing to make the sticky topic.  I think it'll be cool to have a one-stop place to look to see where you can take in SDA members at marathons, between the SDA and SDA-community marathons.

(But, seriously, someone has to provide us with photoshop evidence of Mike stroking a Persian cat Wink )
HELLO!

SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
Okay - can we get ESA to consolidate their threads some what? I know it considered a "community marathon" but given it's size, maybe it could even be put into the marathon discussion board? It is just washing out all of the other marathons because they have a thread for equipment, gathering equipment, travel, accommodations etc. etc.

Seconded. Why is there a thread for buying air mattresses all by itself?

Because it makes sense. Because it would get lost if it's merged with a thread with a different purpose.

I think we'll keep in mind for next year to include a 'I want an air matress' checkbox right on the sign-up form. However, one thread less doesn't rea~lly make that much of a difference Wink
SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
So right now on the 1st page of community meetups there is 20 threads that aren't stickied. 12 of those are ESA threads. That's ridiculous.
SEGA Junkie
Seems an odd complaint when almost all of those threads have an analogous SGDQ thread... if you think the ESA threads should be put in the SDA marathon discussion board, that's one thing, but asking for threads to be "consolidated" is quite another.
SPEEDruns not SAFEruns
It's a real inconvenience for anyone currently using the board. I have a thread on here and if I open up the forum and see all ESA and go, "Well fuck that" and go to another board I'm sure others do as well. It's not so much me caring about ESA doing there thing as it is them swallowing up the board and not allowing others threads to be seen
Fucking Weeaboo
I on one hand see the argument that they are "hogging" the front page. But at the same time, ESA is a large GDQ-like marathon, compared to virtually every other marathonish thing going on in this forum.

Does it need to be moved into the "main" marathon forum? Maybe. Does it need to have some of the threads consolidated? I don't think so. This is just one of the problems with forums. It's gonna have stuff like this that just needs more threads for discussion.
