Do you think it's possible for more people from third-world countries to become Speedrun champions?
Evidence towards this: Anyone who's part of The-Elite.net knows about Rayan Isran (aka Perfect Ace), a young player from Pakistan who joined in 2005 after importing a PAL N64 and a PAL copy of Goldeneye (as well as PD). Thanks to his unique conditions of having lots of free time and not enough money to afford other games/consoles, he quickly became a Dual Champion whose records were nigh-untouchable. The community (his opponents) were so impressed that they bought him an NTSC N64, as well as cartridges.
Do you think more runners from third-world countries will become champions in popular speed games? Why or why not?
