This might be a really silly question but I've been searching throu the whole forum for two days now, google and SDA search.. Nothing.

Does anyone know what kind of donation page SDA is using and where can I locate it?
Thread title:
marathon donation page is only active during and immediately after a marathon.

if you mean for donating to sda itself (e.g. to offset hosting costs): http://speeddemosarchive.com/lang/faq_en.html (under "How can I help the site?")

Ah I see was curious about the marathon donation page, any possibilities of knowing what kind of site it was last time?

My friends and I have been discussing this for days now, trying to figure out what page it was. Is it a Paypal one?
Fucking Weeaboo
The marathon page uses a special setup page (used for info like what choice/challenge you want the donation to go towards at the marathon), but the actual donation works through Paypal.

Well the question remains then : ), Just want the name for the page, if it's not paypal initially what is it then?

SDA...?

You choose what incentive you want, the amount you want to pay, and then you pay for it.

It's as simple as that.

I hope this helps!

I know how it works, what I'm curious about is What kind of page is it? Freewebs, Weebly? ..Home made?. Google doc?
Fucking Weeaboo
The page ties into a program that was developed by some of the SDA members. So homemade.

It's Html made?, I'm intrested of knowing as the SDA one is really nice and easy to use and would like to have something similar for my local business.

Well, it has to be custom done because it ties into a database that keeps track of all of the donations. Most of what it does will likely be complete overkill since I'm sure you're not taking thousands of donations in a short period of time.

Yeah I finally found the "system" SDA is using and yes it would be a little over the top Smiley I'm going to be a sneaky bugger and do something similar as I like it when people can give me feedback/messages while donating.

Thanks for the replies everyone Smiley
I guess this was resolved, but before we wrote a custom solution, we originally used a site called ChipIn, which is now defunct, but has been replaced by a multitude of equivalent services, the closest of which is PitchinBox.  Its just a simple hook into paypal, but after completing the donation, it takes the users to a page where they can enter a comment, and then all user comments can be viewed on a single page.

Obviously its limited, and I can understand if its not suitable for your needs (given that it eventually wasn't for ours) but I figure it'd be worth being aware of if it might save you a little effort.  Conversely, if you were looking to write something similar and need any help, feel free to PM me; I'm one of the main developers on the SDA donation system, my main contribution was setting up the paypal hooks, thus I'm reasonably familiar with how it works and the various gotchas involved with it.

Thanks SMK that's very kind of you.

For our local business we actually decided to go with JustGiving, witch makes it very easy to set up donations and they got a donation tracker now. Works decent enough.

For personal use I'm still looking around but I'm not that good when it comes to HTML scripts and Java ect, I'll try my best but I would probably take something like Pitchin or JustGiving.
