My feelings on The Demon Rush
Maybe there's a game you want to speedrun, but you're having trouble finding the game in the first place. Maybe you just want to expand your game collection. Could be you're having trouble finding the equipment necessary to record an SDA-acceptable run in the first place. Or maybe you just want to get rid of some old games you don't play anymore.

Do:

-Use this board for requests to buy games.
-Sell old games you don't want anymore.
-Trade games
-Sell or buy recording equipment. Not everyone in the community has the equipment necessary to record runs for SDA.
-If you're feeling particularly nice/stupid, you can even donate or lend games to a budding speedrunner.
-Use descriptive topic titles.

Don't:

-Use this board as a wishlist. If you can't buy the game in question, then don't list it.
-Use vague topic titles.
-Price Gouge: We're not all super-rich here, so don't come into this board trying to make a quick buck. This doesn't mean you have to sell a rare game like Panzer Dragoon Saga for 10 dollars, but you shouldn't try to sell it for more than it's worth. If you want the buyer to pay for shipping, then mention it in your post.
-Sell anything non-game related. Like everything else on SDA, keep the discussion game-related.

BTW, this board is an experiment. If the trading post ends up being successful, I'll keep it around. If not much happens within a couple of months, or a lot of bad trades begin to occur, I'll close the board.

EDIT (UltimateDarius):  I just wanted to add:  if you don't trust someone, mostly in regards to a newer member, trust your own judgement with regards to a trade or a purchase.  If possible, use common sense (or Paypal).  If you absolutely cannot because the user is underage, I'd be willing to be a middleman:  You can mail your payment to me and when the game gets here, I'll send the item and the money in the proper direction.  Worst case scenario, you get your money back, or you get your game back.  With a successful transaction via this method, names will go on the reputation list accordingly.  Please note that this is North America only.  If anyone wants to be a middleman elsewhere, please let me know.  You must be highly established on this site already in order to become one (someone such as Frezy comes to mind, due to his massive payments in the bounty thread.  But there are others here, too, I am sure.)

How about making it mandatory to add a tag as the first element of a new topic that tells people whether you are looking for something or offering it?
sda loyalist
I've always thought this should be mandatory for all threads, like game run threads should be:
[CONSOLE] GAME - TYPE OF RUN (PROGRESS)

i.e.
[Wii] Zelda: TP - 100% Run (never gonna happen)
Hi! I'm andrewg!

I don't think the type of run should be listed, the topic of a game should discuss all types of a run. It would be dumb to have multiple threads for one game.
Back in the game!

I love your sense of humor!  Grin

Well, maybe. But then, we'd have a completely useless Diablo II thread with 7 runs going on in it and a lot of conflicting and useless advice.
Waiting hurts my soul...
I see where andrew is coming from (thinking of NES games with basic categories), but lag has a point that some games should list the type of run if it's going to be significantly different from a normal run.

Okay, I added a little bit about specifying whether you want to buy, sell, or trade.

Also, way to derail the topic you guys. Roll Eyes
He's back!
Anyone wanna buy Christmas Nights off me for a million bucks Cheesy
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Might I suggest people specify the region of the game?
Exoray

Seconded.

This is crucial information that definitely should be specified for each listing.

First post updated with region information.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.
The first post is pretty ambiguous about regions. Japan is under both J and NTSC. Also, it may be a good idea to link to a list of countries that use PAL:

I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Might be an idea to link to all three.
welcome to the machine

Also, how much do you want for Chrono Trigger?

CT is a favorite of mine, but I'd part with it for ~$6.
...

Also I added the fact I'm missing most boxes for SNES and N64 games, as well as instruction manuals. If you feel this will lower the cost, please say so.

The SDA Trading Post: orders of magnitude better than any other place you will ever encounter.
Doin Good
What about someone starting and maintaining a thread like the gamer codes one? You reply with what you are after and or what you got, the the first post get updated accordingly. I think I'd volunteer if someone figured out a good format for sorting info etc...

Just as we started prefacing the topics with FS and WTB, it would be nice if people would mark there topic as SOLD/CLOSED if all items go or they decide to pull everything. Saves someone from wading through closed topics or searching individual threads to see its all gone.

I'd suggest the topic starter reports their original post to a moderator with a note saying the thread has run its course and can be locked.
Is there a good site out there for finding out shipping costs?  Yes I know it might be a stupid question and it's very bad for me to make a post about selling games if I don't know how to find out shipping costs.  I probably should have found out first before offering to sell something, but you make a mistake and learn from it.  Having some linked somewhere on this board would be useful, and it could save some people the trip of going to a post office to find out.
Hail Discordia!
Suggestion: trader feedback thread. Like this one.

well, the united states has a page for that:
http://www.usps.com/tools/calculatepostage/welcome.htm

i assume canada's postal service does too, as well as most others. i just googled "usps shipping costs" to get there, so putting the name of your postal service + shipping  costs in a search should work.
I just use the rate calculator on Canada posts website.  Here's a link: http://www.canadapost.ca/cpotools/apps/far/personal/findARate?execution=e2s1

There's a Canada Post in Thorhild so the rates should be accurate.  I'll try googling it and see what comes up.  Thanks romscout.  I've got the games ready so if the shipping prices I mentioned in my thread sound fair I'll get them sent out as soon as I can.
Back in the game!
I have updated the reputation post on the front page with the information I currently have.  If there have been any more completed transactions, please PM the results to me and I will ensure they get correct placement.
What about Club Nintendo coins/points...can we buy/sell/trade codes or would that not be game related? Huh?

UD: Just use a +1 -1 system. Only one + or - per transaction. People can just post in this topic once payment and shipping has been settled. The current system you have right now is way too confusing.

EDIT: romscout has a better idea. Just make a separate thread for reputation. Thread created.
