I was lucky enough to watch AGDQ'13 and was inspired greatly by your combined efforts. I was so inspired, that my thesis ended up being about speedrunning and gaming.
So here is the final video; I'd love to hear you guys' opinion.
yeah, it's definitely a problem so far as the search for sponsors goes - if you are unlucky enough to be in that position. sda being "non-commercial" or whatever you want to call it has been fortunate to find willing charity partners (sort of like "anti-sponsors") for its official marathons and does not find itself in critical need of actual sponsors. but i imagine that for a lot of people this is a highly significant problem. i know that television broadcasters are constantly getting in trouble even with their tape delay and so on. janet jackson's wardrobe malfunction comes to mind.
Nice Video, it really makes me think what exactly the gaming culture has become and where its going. I know its not really the intended message, but a message that provokes thought is always a good one.
This was a well completed video. I don't know why you have your video unlisted, unless if wanted to test the waters with fellow gamers and those within SDA.
It is interesting to see your argument, but it also seems to depend on who we are looking towards as well. SDA has always been an event by the gamers, for the gamers, and done for the right reasons (charity drives) whereas the rest is to provide "High End Entertainment." Overall, it is hard to see how things are going to shape up as we move towards the future and especially if the next-gen games also come with an ability to do streaming from the console itself.
