DS Dictator
2 new packs are out recently on Xbox Live Arcade including:
SVC: Monster World
- Wonder Boy in Monster Land [Arcade]
- Wonder Boy in Monster World aka Wonder Boy V: Monster World III [Mega Drive/Genesis]
- Monster World IV aka the only Wonder Boy to be Japan only until recently [Mega Drive/Genesis]
SVC: Alex Kidd & Co.
- Alex Kidd in Miracle World [Master System]
- Super Hang On [Arcade]
- The Revenge of Shinobi [Mega Drive/Genesis]
Now I was disappointed with the previous solo vintage releases like Gunstar Heroes co-op feature see [Spoiler] and the slight sound inaccuracy on Streets of Rage 2.
This new vintage release looks like a huge step up and there is a good amount of new features as well including:
*Playing the same game on different versions: Yes this means you can play the Japanese version of Revenge of Shinobi to play The Super Shinobi or play it on European version to experience the trauma many European players had to go through back in the 80s and 90s.
* Save states and replays. I think the replay feature works similar to the XBLA release of Radiant Silvergun, but save states is a nice touch for games lacking a save, very important if you want to speed run a game and you are having a hard time on a certain section. This helped me a lot a few years back when I was speed running Streets of Rage 1 via Ultimate Collection.
* Challenges: There are some scenarios unique to this release like for example:
On Wonder Boy in Monster Land [Arcade] there is a score attack to use nothing but an infinite supply of fireballs, one hit and it's over on this score attack. There is a time limit of 6 hours.
There is a speed run challenge of the same game to clear an IL attempt round 6 with no armour/shield but with Legendary(?) boots and Legendary Sword. You do get an infinite supply of revival potions and the boss of round 6 does not give you a quiz, so you must face head on.
Apparently there is going to be another pack which is the Streets of Rage trilogy. And with these promising features from the previous 2 packs, I hope this one will be the easiest way to play Bare Knuckle 3!!I guess it's been delayed because some of the lines from Bare Knuckle 3 contains swearing..... in Japanese text of course.
Edit 1:
Streets of Rage trilogy and Golden Axe Trilogy will be out next week.
Also a very funny control feature, we know some previous collection games enables players to turn on/of turbo fire.
On Wonder Boy in Monster Land [Arcade]
There is an exploit to get a huge amount of gold (roughly 65) from a single coin/bag, all you need to to is to wobble left/right before picking it up. It's not always easy until now.. on the controls menu there is a command to Jump, Stab and then the next one it has 'turbo' wobbling, setting a button to use turbo wobbling makes it way easier to exploit the game and get big cash to pick up legendary equipment after 4-5 stages into the game!. That must be an alternate category.

Quote:
Xbox Live Arcade and Playstation Network was released on June 10, and June 11 in 2009, respectively, with online co-op, leaderboards, and 'improved graphics' via smoothing. However both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions have reported that the co-op feature is a step backwards from the original, due to the inability to rejoin your partner upon death. Instead players must wait for their partner to also die in order for the level to start over, whereas in the original you could rejoin immediately in return for half of your partner's HP.
