SDA Apprentice -- (3-1)
Alright, I finished watching a playthrough of The Misadventures of Tron Bonne, and not only did I discover that the TC completely misspelled the title, but also I will find it interesting as to how the runner will get 3 million + how much more for upgrades...

Best of luck to the runner...

Yeah the title is spelled very wrong... if some1 who knows how can maybe merge the three topics and have the title The Misadventures of Tron Bonne ~40 minutes or something, that would be awesome.

Assuming the Bazooka is the only necessary upgrade, the total "bill" comes to:
1,000,000 ship
2,000,000 interest
+ 300,000 bazooka
_________
3,300,000 Z

on top of that,
100,000 armor
  10,000 tank 1
  50,000 tank 2
  2,000 x X bottle 2s

I would probably ask one of the admins to see if either one or two topics can be closed or merge, if anything, they will be able to do something...

As for the bill, you accidently carried over one too many zero my friend...

33 million is highway robbery!

As for your extra expenses, I would highly recommend to see if there might be a means to "work around that" if possible...  Granted through you can earn so much that you are getting it since you have more than enough to spare...

P.S.: I SAW THAT EDIT!!! /sarcasm

Again though, I wish you the best of luck obdajr; this run would be a great addition to SDA...

Edit 2: (since I don't want to cluster up the thread since I'm not planning on running this game)  If there was one thing I learned from games, minigames are usually faster than doing main things, so I would say that if the "minigame" is quick and easy, might as well do that...

Still, you can always do practice runs to find out; after all you did say you are shooting for a run about 40 minutes, and really 40 minutes to try each route should help better identify which is better...

BTW, I forgot to ask this:  Will you segment the run, or do it in one sitting...  Either way, it would be to your benefit to post your WIPs so that other people more accustomed to this game will be able to better assist you...

lol thanks for catching that; i edited my bill. the extra stuff is all pretty much free, as the cost can be reduced by items. the armor is the one i want to skip the most, as getting the riot shields requires slow servbots to catch up to you. its only about 20 seconds lost all together, but time is time.

did some testing, much to my dismay, ruins 2 is like 2-4 minutes slower without a 3 power sniper. so the options are go into the ruins a third time to get the attack cube, or do the minigame after bank 1. an extra trip into the ruins would be like 5 minutes total but would might eliminate the need for getting the police lights and tires (extra income from visit = ~67,000, lights + tires = ~84,000) i think minigame + police light is better honestly.

Edit:
it will be single segment, and the 40 minute estimate is in game time, which is displayed at the end of the run. going to be streaming tomorrow hopefully.

it would be possible to beat the game with no upgrades, just stupidly hard

and thanks for the time skip obdajr. what is your twitch.tv account? and i wouldn't mind being part of the commentary either if that is possible. my skype name is richard.jackson250

edit 1: obdajr is doing a single segmented run. Im going to try and do  multi segmented run. just not sure how many at this point.
Streaming at the moment acually, www.justin.tv/Obdajr. Just got a 36:59 ingame time, which was 42:46 real time. broke my record by 3 minutes... and didnt record it due to virtual dub issues. BLAH
Today i got a 41:21 real time, 35:31 ingame time with a few minor mistakes and some bad menu input. I am thinking about submitting this one, as it's recorded and ready to go.

a few new things to note:

-as far as i can tell, the minigame is much faster than the out of the way attack cube for increasing #1's attack.
-in Bank 2, you only need to rob 3 houses and the police cars to increase the brains of #30 and #31. this is cutting it close though, so if they don't get brains, its a reset. the lost money from not robbing 5 houses is irrelevent
-in Bank 2 also,  the only building you need to destroy is the animal hospital for the statue, and this is only because you need to wait for your servbots to steal stuff anyways. by cutting these corners, its a bit faster, but its possible to not hit the 2m zenny mark. reset after ruins 2 if not 1,610,000z
-i have a few slightly faster boss strats now as well, ill update them in the route post when i have time.
-armor is 100% not needed, and the tanks are only bought because they are free.

i was planning on submitting if i got 38 minutes ingame, and this run smashes that, so i think ill do a few more attempts, and then submit if nothing better happens.
okay man best of luck
lol no update in ages xD ive got an assignment to finish this week, so by saturday i should get around to streaming myself route planning for a 100% playthrough

Just got a 29:43 using a new route and getting a ton of luck.  I'm thinking sub 29 is within the realm of reach.  Scouting is the key to the lowest times, and there's very little concrete information.  Using the power of randoms, I get myself an attack cube in the run, letting me skip the training minigames.  It's an absolutely insane route that's surprisingly consistent for money/stats.  I had a run that was even better earlier, getting both an attack and a speed cube, but, I threw it away by selecting the wrong mission.

Edit:  I'm using in game timer for timing, I haven't timed it in realtime.
Yeah the new route looks awesome, jmc is too hardcore for me lol
awesome jmv
Anything you can do I can do halfass
Out of curiosity, and as someone who only just completed the game and watched the run, has anyone ever tried running the container puzzles rather than the combat missions?  Ruins is obviously a given for the bazooka and million zenny, but there's another million+ in Primiki Harbor 3 alone.  Combined, I see ~2.5 million across all 6 puzzle stages, and I can't imagine it takes too long to execute once the solutions are known.
Honestly,  I never tried it.  The reasoning is that the skills on your servbots go up from when you play the action missions, such as attack, intelligence and whatnot, I think.  Maybe just intelligence.

I don't think the crate missions would take too long, but, from what I've seen, it'd take longer than the action missions.  There aren't just six puzzles, but each puzzle section is a set of puzzles, that get more difficult later into the game.  It's true that the farm missions are quite long as well... I don't know.  I think you should give it a shot, because the record is definitely very vulnerable.
Anything you can do I can do halfass
Yeh, all the in-game stuff indicates that intelligence is the only thing that goes up on missions, and you only get to take one servbot along for the puzzles, which would be the biggest drawback.  Then again, if you only need brains for bazooka development and final-boss shot range, a total of 6 points may just cut it.  Running through the Primiki 3 solutions in my head after completing them, I could see 1 minute per sub-stage being sane for them (3 minutes overall per mission), and those are the longest ones.  Much less and they'd be solidly competitive with your 2-3 minutes for each combat mission.  But mental guesstimation isn't actual running, and unfortunately I was casual-playing this past run and didn't use intermediate saves that I could jump back to now.  I also just wanted to get the game off my stack so I can move on to the other ~10 RPGs there >.<  But perhaps if I need to take a break in a few weeks, I'll go back to it.  Puzzle runs may be something even I can do, although I suspect that it may only make sense to swap e.g. Primiki for Sart Farm.  The first 3 container missions only pay about as much as Bank, and the Bank missions give so much more extra stuff for selling and development.
The problem with doing the run is that even if it is slightly faster, unless it's 2 - 3 minutes faster, you'd still need to get the ridiculous attack cube luck from scouting.  Well, maybe that's not AS important if you're not doing attack missions then... it may make the game runnable again!  I know doing the training mission wouldn't be worth it, though, not without all the action missions, but that means getting the 1 million from the ruin will take much, much longer.  Seriously, yikes.  It'll end up a routing nightmare, because everything will be put back on the table.
Lord Of The Beards
Alright ive been wondering what is the point of getting the read head parts during a run if you are going to use servbot 1 as the sniper since he is the default if you dont get the parts?  Since it doesnt give any actual stat boosts and only increases the lowest stats max possible rating it doesnt really matter in the run as far as I can tell.  Unless you planned to get a 2nd speed cube with crazy rng luck that is since that is the stat that gets its max rating raised on servbot 1.  Just curious was thinking about picking up the game for running and was wondering what the point of getting it was or if there even is one.
