Wow dude, NICE job, alucard's going to kill himself. I know for a fact that boss time can and SHOULD come way down though. I'll probably try to take it back in a bit
great job! thanks for sharing that strat. the "telefrag" glitch might eventually get worked out. i saw that alucard was working on this level. anyhow, good stuff.
damn you destructor wtf i know you have japanese parents
yea though im shocked that you got there at :63......and got 1:20:56. did the boss not cooperate or you miss a shot? cause with that time you shouldve got 1:20:3x (perfect boss fight)
wait a min tho, i think ive been doing rush jet to the left wrong maybe? i rush jet + jump at same time of the ladder, but i always have to jump a second time (straight up) to get on the edge of rush's head...and i never need anything to kill the crab (he always misses me.) the fact that you mentioned j.s. makes me think you might possibly be doing it all in one jump or something....hm hm hm
btw fucking TREVOR TELL ME HOW YOU GET GOOD LUCK FOR THE BOSS FIGHT! dude i don't know i'm starting to lose it with flipping coins. is it really random when he does that huge jump (instead of initial concrete) OR WHEN HE DOES HUGE JUMP AFTER SHOOTING CONCRETE...OR HUGE JUMP AFTER SHOOTING CONCRETE, TRYING TO TACKLE YOU, THEN JUMPING / TACKLING????!!! am i standing too close?? am i not praying enough? i mean jesus on wheels it happens so much that i feel like either its my fault or the spirit of mike uyama is giving me some really sick test of sanity
edit: i can't seem to get to the damn boss door faster than 1:16:8x, so i know i'm def screwing up...either you TAS'd the stage my way or i'm doing rush jet wrong. think you could make a vid of how you do it exactly? you don't have to do a whole run, but a vid of how you do it would make me less paranoid :)!
WAIT SUPER EDIT: desctructor did you jump through either of the boss doors? if yes then so did tiki (YES YOU DID IF HE SAYS YES)
thx for the info. now i feel foolish at having done rush jet wrong this whole time. i already know i've done the boss .04 faster than trevor, and now knowing that you don't jump through boss doors (which i will do...muahaahhah), at least 1:20:26 is possible. whoever gets it first is the question
I'm curious too, especially since whatever it was put you (Trevor) back in first (1:22:31).
it's mostly from a second block boost. it's the block at 0:59 in my existing plug man vid (you should be able to tell which).
alucard: welcome to the world of concrete man speedrunning. there's like a 1 in 4 or 5 chance he'll do the right attack pattern. i've never noticed if any particular action influences his behavior.
Nice job, destructor. You should really start doing videos of it, even if you have to use a shitty webcam or something
I've been thinking about strats for that level. I got into the boss at 1:19:29 with a couple really small mistakes by using tornado instead of c block at the first ladder and using c block instead of tornado in the second-to-last room with the disappearing blocks. It may or may not save time, I'm not really sure.
I'm terrible at concreteman, I can't understand why I cannot get under 1:23:58. I get to the boss in about 1:17.5 or so usually and still can't get under that time! It's so annoying. Also, it's pretty annoying how slow I'm getting to the boss.
Hey guys, I think we should start arranging for an IL table on SDA. Mike says that the times don't have to be WRs, but they should be close. If you feel like you're going to get a super good run on any level, make sure you record it. I think it'd make the competition even tighter for ILs if we have an organized IL table effort instead of just getting scattered runs and posting about them here.
I've been lurking around SDA ever since I found my way here through Metroid2002 back when the secrets of Prime were still being unlocked (what a trove of sequence breaking that turned out to be). Anyway, with the posting of Master ZED's single segment imminent, I'd like to go ahead and congratulate him on what would seem to be quite an impressive run.
So many thanks in advance to Master ZED for the dedication and all the practice it must have taken to come up with such an amazing time. I can't wait to watch it!
Also, a big thanks to Satoryu and Sir VG for their submissions as well. While their runs may have been bested (just as Master ZED's upcoming run is sure to be eventually), at least they took the time to record and submit them in the first place. Constructive criticism is one thing but disparaging remarks are disheartening to say the least. Some of the comments I've read regarding their runs have been what I would consider unsporting, which I think is a shame. While excellence is the name of the game I think it's important to remember that it is driven by competition; I'd hate to think callous comments have turned anyone off of submitting a run.
22:07. I got the kill, but made a lot of errors. The only reason I got this low was because the Wily Capsule went to the ground twice. Oh well. Try, try again.
With my current tactics, I'm uncertain about just getting to 2nd at all.
I'm still trying to figure out the optimal method for destroying the first Wily boss. I still can't get under 2:02 in Time Attack, which can't be a good sign. Worse yet, TO's compilation is the best we have (though we had nothing until Mike found it), and he's 12 seconds off first... just looking at the way TO did it, I'm not entirely convinced the difference lies in the boss strategy. I should really look into it.
ZED, do you think you could actually get to the 1:07 Plug Man room in time? I think you might be able to if you manage to pull off c blocks JUST right, I'd have to try it myself though. Actually, I'm about 75% sure you could. It'd be super fucking hard, though. I'm gonna have to do hundreds of time attacks to get it right. But if I do, you'll know it's possible, and then for some magical reason that will make it much easier.

have you looked into Mazooka again? i still think starting off with that is the best way.

Yes, actually. One charged, 2 BHB, repeat, Plug Ball, then Buster or Trident for the finish is the current plan.
