It's not; if you jump forward, you go at the same speed because you're jumping forward. If you jump straight up, the jet goes bye-bye. IOW, if we applied MM9 physics to your real world example, that ball would immediately crash into your face at the speed your car is going.

True, but the fastest way to explain it is that you should NEVER apply real world physics to a video game. Video games don't have to comply with reality whatsoever, creating their own worlds where black holes can be filled in with concrete.

Problem is, you have to charge it for it to do any good. If that's fine with you, go for it, but that's never worked for me very well. One ball starts to get pushed and then I have to use Plug Ball to save the other one because the first is a lost cause while trying not to get killed by the one in front of me, and in the end, starting with BHB or Plug Ball would have ultimately been better. :\

He was nice in the rematch and I just sucked at shooting for a change. I don't know for sure, but with more tweaking, coRd could likely be beaten. That tweaking would require a smoother Plug Man run (namely, crossing the spikes with C. Shot all the way... one pit was enough thank you) and less bad luck and crappy fighting in WC4, all combined. I don't know exactly how much perfection will be required for this to happen.

But whether SDA accepts or not, I'm happy for the moment. Rest, possible DVD rip, then Superhero again I suppose. Cheesy

I think I can, actually. Thinking about WC4 has me pissed, though another attempt may be only just as fast if the Wily Capsule decides to hang out on cloud nine. That, and I couldn't score the free hit. I got 8th, but I only feel irked about it.

Consistently, I'm not sure, but my new route eliminates a certain luck factor from the run which was pissing me off, so I see no reason not to try getting at least 7th. If I can beat coRd, though... well, that'd be nice, but I don't think my new route is that damn good. Tongue

Yep. 23:12 is 8th. 9th is the same (the guy who got the time before me) and 10th is 23:13. 7th is 23:04, which is why I'm trying again.

Of course, I still have the 23:12 if things don't go right anymore.

Probably that combined with some improved skills since the change wasn't supposed to do anything to time in the first place; it was supposed to negate the luck of the draw versus the boulder in Jewel Man's stage. The main route change is Galaxy > Hornet > Jewel, leading to Hornet Chaser for the boulder and Rush Jet for Plug Man. The time lost to Hornet Man's stage because of the lack of T. Blow and Magma Bazooka should just be negated by said benefits, but I guess I was wrong since it led me to 8th place.

Vixy got booted off by a time of 23:14 in the past day or so when I wasn't playing, so 10th wasn't happening either at this point. I was only three seconds away from falling off the list entirely.

Sounds good to me, I say submit. Like I said, the top 10 should probably be a standard for a solid SDA SS runs, at least for now. I'll bet that anyone in the top 10 who isn't from SDA doesn't really have a sense of how to speedrun, so their segmented runs = good SDA SS runs. Congrats on the time, though, sounds pretty damn good.

if you want you could run it for some more time (like maybe a week) and see if you pull a better one. couldn't hurt and there would be less pressure later in the game Smiley

btw congrats to fucking the original run in the ass, this is what i wanted

*edit* i haven't posted in a bit but all the stuff you've said so far seems great ;). including not more than 2 magma shots on wily 1 boss, nate himself actually suggested that as well. that route change is pretty ingenius...i hadn't messed with any kind of SS yet but i like the sound of it. what did you use to kill hornet man btw?

i'm interested in when you decided to use that first and last m tank in wily, and also how you handled wily 4 phase 2 / 3. (2 is more straightfoward with taking damage + spamming shit, but i'm curious on how you did wily 3 since i know you're a sneaky beaver who does good shit)

if i were you i would go ahead and submit this run and start sending the files in (assuming you're using torrent). then if and when you get a better time before we post it then you can cancel and submit again. the extra work in that case would be very minimal and would not be seen as annoying by any of the members of the sda administration.
