PAL 50Hz KILL ME NOW
I just watched your run Satoryu, and I must admit there was some really surprising stuff you pulled off ^^
(Granted, I haven't read a page of this topic, since I just got around to playing R9 last week, and didn't want to spoil myself) I'll try to adapt those moves in my own playing.

Great work, can't wait to get a time like that XD
(first clear was 2hrs, 2nd was 46'07)

i did a practice run just now, implementing time savers that weren't in the 24:48. it's semi-segmented, and some mistakes were left in, but the times are still a good benchmark. i did save after every level, just to give an idea of what future runners (including myself) want to shoot for.

Splash: 2:07
Concrete: 3:43
Galaxy: 5:48
Jewel: 7:29
Plug: 9:12
Tornado: 10:55
Magma: 12:28
Hornet: 13:58
Final Time: 23:44

the #10 spot on the Wii board is in reach. (23:31) i'm not sure if a run like this could get any higher than that, though. #9 is 23:13.

.......FUCK!!

Master ZED, great Wily 2 run there.
xxalucard's flame post on page 40 makes me hesitant about visiting here in the future. If attacks like that are welcome in a thread or forum as a whole, I'm going to avoid that immature negativity by avoiding the thread or forum. Sorry to make another off-topic post, but I believe it is important.

tildy: You have nothing to worry about, flame posts here are rare, though there is the occasional light-hearted spam from some of our established members. Wink
Fucking Weeaboo
I think it just comes from the fact that this is a new and VERY popular game, so the stakes (and the pressure) are higher then most other games.

same thing happened/happens with Brawl.

and another reason why i think the verifiers could have been a little less harsh on VGs run is because it's a new game. not every trick has been found yet, and not everyone knows about all the tricks that do exist. you're not going to get perfection out of a 2 month old game.

Yeah, but you beat me by a good margin so quickly, so obviously I didn't do enough right.

Oh well.  I'm on to other things, so yeah, go after a new record, Satoryu.  Go stick in in everybody's face when you're done, too. Tongue
everybody wanna tell you the meaning of music
People I feel most sorry for in SDA history for taking unwarranted/overdone (and unlucky) bashing:

1) Satoryu
2) Sir VG
3) tri-hex
4) Radix
5) Lucid Faia
HM) random guests

I don't know what gives you the impression that his post was welcome. Huh? He was publically reprimanded by a mod after all (btw gogo dex is the best mod on SDA). If you think his post should have been deleted, we don't censor stuff like that (well we had one mod that would censor people attacking him or SDA, but he's been reigned in, lol). If someone has a flame post, it reflects on them, not us, so that's the rationale. Maybe if we had more flaming, we would have to do something, but it's rare so whatever.

Also, I don't know how much you know about alucard but I wouldn't get offended by anything he says. I guess it goes to show the super-positive enthusiastic guys (him, Angerfist, etc) are holding it all in and occasionally have to explode like a volcano. Cheesy
Superhero, new game single segment, 24:34 (unrecorded).  This is not optimized: Jewel Man's stage still costs me time and I just found out one of the grabbers in Wily Castle 3 is friendly, but to what extent and how practical its use is, I'm not certain.  Even if I had it on tape ready to transfer to DVD (my recorder has a very small amount of lag that I didn't know about before, so any straight-to-DVD run I make wouldn't be optimal), I'd be obligated to redo the run anyway just because of those two factors.  If anyone has any tips on the last part of Jewel Man's stage, or any knowledge about the supposedly friendly grabber, share them please!

EDIT: Nearly forgot, the friendly grabber is the first one you encounter on the last stretch:

But yeah, that's the kind of run you guys should get ready to see.
I don't even know what the fuck this is
Sounds badass, ZED. Keep it up, that 24:34 even is something I'd be willing to see. I do think it's awesome you're rerunning it, though Smiley
great job master, you're making me wanna pay 2$ for that mode  Angry

you should probably try and figure out how to take advantage of that stuff you're talking about and do another run, but i'm definitely interested in a time like that on superhero.  (at least to see the route and stuff, maybe i could see what dif jewel man stuff you're talking about)

do a normal mode run too!!!!

btw tildy, if i bought you a happy meal...would you feel better?  Kiss  i wuv you and don't want you to leave sda because my posts might offend you :(.  oh yeah, can you take me to that happy place you live where the world is all marshmallows and rainbows?  i wanna get in on that

Why wouldn't you?  It's fun, and the competition would be nice.

I have to do another one.  As I said, I didn't record the 24:34.  It was supposed to be just practice; I never expected the differences made by my improving Magma Man and the Wily stages to create such a drastic difference that I'd go from 27:02 to beating Satoryu's run by 14 seconds.  I woke up, turned on the Wii, and nailed that time in one shot. :\

Anyway, the grabber goes beyond the Uzi Joe before the wide pit and drops you straight in it, but it's easy enough to save myself with Jewel Satellite even if I end up running through the Joe instead of killing him (I could also just wait the grabber out against the wall under the Joe and still save some time, but that's lame).  It'll be tough, but Endless Attack has grabber stretches just as severe in their own ways that I can handle well enough.  I can take this thing.

Jewel Man... I had nothing new in mind, it's just that the last stretch was something I hadn't practiced and it was costing me big.  I'd regularly end up at around 7:50, which one would suspect would be good given the additional enemies.  After practicing it, I could get, say, 7:40 or less (it's just full of enemies and I kept getting my ass kicked at that point).  After Hornet Man, my 24:34 was at 14:16.  Superhero is definitely harder and pretty different in a few areas, but the times aren't very different in the first eight stages.

I was planning Proto Man next, but maybe I should.  I'd have much better luck now, though I feel like I'd have to make the top 10 before I could even consider a submission.  That could prove harder than what I'm going for now.

I'll think about it at least.
protoman ftw.
Geez nice run Zed, 24 minutes is a respectable run for regular mode, let alone superhero mode.
Visually Appealing
either Superhero ain't as different from the regular mode as i thought, or Zed is in a whole nother league.

maybe both.
Hope rides alone.

I actually thought the same Cheesy checking youtube on some vids...

will the special stage be runned, too?

so, the next big projects are protoman and superhero mode? cant wait to see it!
'runned'?

I can't wait either. 24:34 on superhero sounds epic.
fucking .gif....
I havent forgotten the topic, I just forgot its been a week already.  also I haven't even been playing this lately Sad
yes, an iron knuckle riding a mechanical horse
From my first time through (and my memory is bad) it's possible that Superhero Mode played well might actually end up faster than normal mode.  There's all kinds of grabbers in weird places, and you can use hitstun in more places in Magma Man's stage, allowing more C. Shot to be used on the dragon.  Changes in Plug Man's block puzzle might also help/hinder a speed run.

Fixed.  One block to ruin everything. Sad

this is wrong, have you seen AKA's time attack of magma man?  you shouldn't need any hit stun or more c-shot at all.

a super hero mode run should definitely be taking longer than a normal mode run

*edit* - also noticed that master can do wily 3 in one phase with some pro b. bomb canceling....think you can pull that off in the next SS mr?  8)

I don't really think this vote should decided adamantly one way or the other if the category should be created, but instead just show whether or not the site is open to the idea of a real time run.  If a real time run that looks really solid get produced and it's not all that significantly different from a regular run, I'd say can the category.  I do think it's worth exploring though, and would be very curious to see a polished run by the usual MM speedrunning standard.

I agree.

Since the yeses won, it means we're open to the idea of a real-time standard. However, it doesn't mean that a real-time run will be different enough from an in-game time run. We'll just have to see how it plays out.
Quote from xXAlucard:

Yes it should, which is why I decided to do a NG SS next, or possibly first.  I was alternating between them earlier with each failed run.

My 24:34 did include a one round Twin Devil kill.  I can do it, and I'll certainly try it again.  Not getting a one round kill really sucks anyway.
Visually Appealing
a one phase kill on Twin Devil is something i've never done before. still, that's not taking me out of the competition. i'm still working on improving my own run.
