Any comments on how much time would be lossed/saved in Galaxy Man if you did 5 extra zips somewhere throughout the level and got the big refill on the last screen instead of jumping so the that the transporter would catch you earlier?

It may be possible!! I've already added 2 extra zips into my run (non transporter zips)  (one that works all the time, one that works most of the time), but haven't quite gotten a stellar run of it yet. -__-; I'm solid on the first half of the stage, but I always mess up big time on the last half. x__x;

What if you jump to get that large refill, turn around, shoot a concrete block while jumping so that the transporter catches you and you zip through that concrete block? That coupled with the 5 extra zips could save/equal time.. maybe!!

Anyways, I got my live points card, and started playing on the Xbox360, and I can't quite figure out how people find the controls easier? For the most part I find playing on the wiimote to be just as good!! On the other hand, today I had a stupendous run of Splash Woman's stage!! Its no world record, but it was decent!!! (I gated in at 1:31:36, but my boss fight was terrible, ended up with a 1:37:xx) I also did quite decently on Hornet man's stage (1:20) but I really suck at fighting hornet man. You can see me on the leaderboards under the name SlurpeeNinja
And feel free to add me to your friends list!! ^__^

EDIT*  I just posted a 1:40:41 time on Galaxyman on the wii!! Thus taking the 2nd spot behind Kk!! ^^v
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
The Jewel Man Wii record was just beaten by 8 seconds. I'm assuming this is some hex-editing hack or something. Anyone have info on this?

Yeah, some douchebag hacked the Endless Attack board too, only his is so damned obvious, I don't know why Capcom hasn't done anything about it.  I'm guessing this new prick thought it was a good idea and pulled Antagonist XC's trick.

Then again, maybe not... he only has fourth on WC4.  Maybe we should just wait and see, since it could be a clever trick to make the Jewel Man time look legit.

The special stage ranking is SO obviously fake as well. i mean, 1:12:51??? come on, gimme a break!  Roll Eyes

Hi! I'm andrewg!
Wow, this topic is losing interest... :/

Hmm, I still want to get some better times on some of these time attacks. I want the concrete man and magma man time attack records still. I'm guessing one of these days I'll beat those. Cheesy

Congrats on getting all the IL times onto SDA MD9. Smiley
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
I may have missed this in a previous post.  But is anybody working on, or thinking about working on a Proto Man run?
I don't even know what the fuck this is
I got a few stages sort of practiced, there will definitely not be anything serious from me until after mmx though. I'd be willing to offer any help/videos to anyone who wants to do it sooner.

I was thinking, with a protoman run, could you concrete zip  at any time you want?? throw concrete block>Dash into block>Jump out and zip??? Or does that not work?? would make double zips much easier to do also.  Oh, and Sidonex, I finally got the double zip to work for me, but I can only get it to work on wily Castle 2, where there's a corner with a really low ceiling after it.  Thank you for that anyway. ^^'

Tiki: What do you think is the best route for a protoman run?  I was thinking, Tornado > Splash > Concrete >Galaxy > Magma > Jewel > Hornet > Plug?  But I don't know for sure.
I don't even know what the fuck this is
I dunno if concrete zipping like that with protoman is really worth it because you lose slide speed from jumping out of the block, someone would have to test. I think that route seems right, I can't really think atm, but it seems good.

I just tested it, and it seems like the zip doesn't even work. Sad
Oh well, it was an interesting theory anyway...
Its like the slide cancels the detection of being in the concrete or something. I don't really understand it.

EDIT!!:
I finally broke 1:40 on Galaxyman and took the top spot on the Wii!! ^^;; Because my Xbox is crappy and decided to die. =__=; Time 1:39:73.

Didn't record a full run, but did record my time at the end of the stage and the leader-board. (With some crappy commentary from me)

I'm really getting close to the world record, I just have to smooth out the last quarter of the stage.
I always thought you should be able to do time attack for protoman/hero/super hero modes with online rankings. The times are bound to be different and you would really get your money's worth. Proto man especially.

I completely agree with you!! ^^

EDIT: I put up a really crappy run of Wily Castle 1 on my youtube page!! Feel free to insult how bad it is.
Dood Trigger™
You can still do full game runs on these modes. Not too bad, I guess. Smiley

Borrowed an Xbox from a friend while mine is being shipped away!! =)
Soon to be  back at it!!
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Not to get off track, but I wish they'd get off it or on it about that "final secret". If it's a good one, it could
be integral to a speed run of the game. Could you imagine if it was some time stop or rush adaptor or something?

Had to sell my box so I can't test my idea for a faster tornado Man boss fight. I'm not sure if it's faster to hit him with a t blow in the beginning of the fight and finish with plug ball or plug him in the beginning and finish with mazooka. Anyway, my strategy incorperates both but i don't know if it's faster than either of the previously mentioned strategies because I can only do it in my head.

My strategy is to hit T Man with a t blow at the start, hit him with plug ball until you get close to him, and then alternate between plug ball and mazooka until you finish him. Tornado Man has 28 health pixels, t blow does 1 damage, mazooka does 2, and plug does 3. So it would look like this............

1----3----3----3----3----3-2----3-2----3-2

Add the numbers and you will get 28. I attempted to show time between hits using dashes to show the mazooka hitting right after the plug ball. You could start to hit him with mazooka a plug ball earlier but that wouldn't allow to end up with 28 damage perfectly and would most likely cost time. If you have understood any of this please test it for me and share the results. Smiley

Edit: I just realized that there should be boss battle leaderboards as well.
Looking at my chart made me see that in order for this boss strategy to be the best the time in between the three uses of plug ball and mazooka would have to be less than two uses of plug ball that it replaces. That's obvious but i didn't catch it.

I tested the tornado man fight out, but I really couldn't pull it off well. :(I almost got it to work But my timing was off.  If someone who is better at Tornado man could test it out that would be wonderful!!

I bought MegaMan 9 (PS3) yesterday and want to get in to time trialing, can I get some assistance?

Currently TTing Splash Woman and I have 3 problems. I would appreciate advice on the following issues.
1) how to concrete zip the 2nd octopus on the first screen and the last uh... wall hugging guy on the last screen before the boss.
2) how to get the last platforming room down just right without clipping my head on the hanging spikes. Whenever I do manage to get by them my tornado blow either blows me into the ceiling spikes or I time it too late and it doesn't give me any lift.
3) a good boss strategy? I see it taken down in 3 seconds, but mine is usually in between 4 and 6 seconds long.

I need general c-zip help as well. When I try it on an enemy that im right next to I turn it into the block and keep holding in that direction because what it looks like in videos is that it is slightly elevated and MM has enough time to squeeze under, but whenever I try I end up just running into a concrete block, slowing me down rather than speeding me up. I was playing with corner zipping and sort of figured that out on some spots but need more practice. Essentially you're jumping into the corner as the concrete hits it, forcing megaman up/right faster?

edit: ew god. I butchered a really fast run (for me), around 1:33 by the time i got to the boss but it took 9 seconds to kill. I REALLY need advice because thats killing me, a good boss couldve made that 1:36ish, around 3rd place on the PS3. help!
Yea, I commented you on YouTube about what you use to record recently. There are some things that I vary slightly from your run. One thing is that you do a short hop at the beginning, I found it easier to just hold the jump button because it automatically does a full hop.  Any difference?

Another thing I've been doing is that I found it hard to do the bubble tblow spike part 100% of the time the way you were doing it so I execute my tblow a little bit later than you do. It doesn't seem to give me as much of an upward speed as I see in your video but it gets me up there almost 100% of the time.

And finally on the two way split before you fall down 3 screens (at about 20 seconds on the onscreen clock in your video) there's a part where you have to short hop left over the edge and hold right, falling off the other ledge. Is that actually faster than short hopping left and then short hopping right over the other ledge?

The thing about splash woman is that most of the level is pretty easy, I can do everything consistently up to the last spike room, so even if I can only execute it on 1 in 5 tries, everything up to that point will be close to perfect once I get the first zip down. I picked it as my first time trial because of the relative ease. For that same reason I'll probably try doing tornado man after I'm happy with Splash Woman.

I'll do some practice on the boss fight until its more consistent, thanks for the tips on zipping as well.

:/ I have to re-learn my controller setup though, there are two ways I can have my finger on pause at all times. I can either learn to have my right thumb on pause, shoot, and jump at the same time-- or I can do index on pause, middle on jump, ring on shoot. Not sure how I feel about either of those..I'll try to get into contact with Imvok, see how he holds his ps3 controller.
I don't even know what the fuck this is
You can also sneak your index finger over the top of the controller to rest on pause while your thumb hits jump and shoot.

That might be what I end up doing, thanks Tiki. I'm on the type-2 control setup so X is fire, square and circle are jump, and before I was playing with O and X but now I have to switch to Square and X. :/  I'll get used to it eventually. Thanks, both of you.

edit: actually... feels kind of weird. I think the most doable for me would be thumb on all 3 buttons.

So far I'm stalling the rest of my run to figure out c-zip, and all I can manage is to zip backwards or jump into my block.

edit2: on a side note, I'm not ready to time trial this yet but on Wily Castle 2 at 1:23 into this video (56 seconds in game clock time) you get hit by that torpedo bird thing. Now, sometimes I'll be running right, the exact same way as you, and I get hit by that. At other times it passes right over my head. You turn around right before getting hit so that you recoil to the right instead of left, but would it not be faster to just shoot it really fast or set up a black hole bomb?
I don't even know what the fuck this is
He does that so the spikes won't kill him.
Ah, I see what you mean now.
Finally I broke 1:50.00 on the SpecialStage
And I broke the world record on the Galaxyman's level
