So as many people may know, CriticalCyd's offer of Golden Sun 2 (The Lost Age) was accepted for RPG Limit Break 2017, Which is awesome! That said, Cyd does need some help to cover the costs of the flight from Europe to the US.  For that, I promised that if he offered and got it in, I’d help run a marathon to try to cover some of the flight costs. Here are all of the relevant details:

Dates: March 4th-5th
Submissions – From now until February 18th at Midnight (Pacific Time)
For any further details/questions, we have a Discord server at: https://discord.gg/qnDHYRf

FAQ:
How much are you looking to raise?
-  Cyd can cover his hotel and food costs, so this is entirely for the flight from Europe to the US and back. As such, our goal is to raise $1,000.

What will you do if we raise more than $1000?

-  If we get more than the 1k minimum to fly Cyd out, the remainder of the money will go to help MLSTRM, whose offer of Xenoblade Chronicles was also accepted into the marathon, get from the UK to the US for the marathon. While he can cover his costs, any additional help will make it less of a financial burden to come here from Europe. If there is more overflow after covering his flight costs, I’ll look into seeing if there are any other runners who may experience difficulty attending. If there is any remainder after that, the surplus will be donated to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness, the charity which RPG Limit Break is in support of) during RPGLB in Cyd’s name.

Why should I donate?

-  Golden Sun is a series beloved by many and RPG Limit Break is offering a Golden Sun speedrun a rare chance to have a major marathon showing. Cyd is also an awesome and established member of the speedrunning community who also happens to be really good at the game. Moreover, we believe that RPG Limit Break 2017 will raise more money for NAMI with Golden Sun: The Lost Age on the schedule than without (which we believe the RPG Limit Break committee feels the same way, hence they selected it), and so we believe this will benefit RPG Limit Break marathon as a whole.

Will there be night shifts?

-  Yes.

What are the criteria you’re looking for for game submissions?

-  We want to see games that people want to watch, could raise money, and that we expect to lead to a fun time for the viewers. Having strong donation incentives are also important, but those come second to making sure that people enjoy tuning into the marathon.

How can I help?

-  Offer runs, spread the word on social media, and we are also in need of potential restreamers and/or donation readers. If you’re willing to help on either or both of the latter two, please let me know in the official discord.

Game Name: Strider (2014)
System: PC
Category: Any% / All Bosses
Estimate: 40:00 / 1:10:00
Description: Strider (2014) is a very fast paced Metroidvania/Hack-n-slash Adventure game, in which you play the Strider Hiryu, and blast your way through the various areas of Kazakh city. This game is full of movement techinques and optimisations, and incredibly fast boss fights.
Any% is the shorter category, and uses a variety of tricks to obtain various items needed to get to the last area in the game early, and then rush your way through to the end while taking down enemies with a very small pool of upgrades.
All Bosses is a bit longer, but shows you much more of the game and has many more examples of just how quickly you can take down enemies with the right strategies. A lot more movement throughout the game is seen and there are various OoB sections and tricks to get to various boss fights out of order, or avoid slow puzzle rooms and cutscenes.

Tales of Zestiria
System: PC
Category: Any% (NG)
Estimate: 7:00:00 (could drop significantly)
Description: Tales of Zestiria was the first tales game to make it to the current console generation. The gameplay is fairly similar to Tales of Graces, along with a fusion system called Armatization, that allows 1 human and 1 seraphim character to merge together and perform strong elemental attacks. The run itself is pretty fast paced, with only a couple of places with large amounts of story triggers, and the vast majority of cutscenes being skippable. Battles are all rather tight, since we're underlevelled and under-equipped for the main part of the game, so combat is mostly exciting to watch, and when it isn't, it's usually because we're using a loop on the enemy to attempt to stop them from attacking us. Outside of battle movement is often still fast paced due to the windstepping skill and ability to quick travel to previous locations relatively freely, so there aren't long sections of backtracking, and the dungeons that have any significant length all involve some kind of puzzles which make them more interesting to watch.

Ys Origin
System: PC
Category: Toal Any%
Estimate: 1:40:00
Description: The game I ran at RPGLimitBreak 2016. A speedy action RPG with more glitches and tricks than you can shake a stick at, with tons of neat tech and skill demonstrated throughout the run. In fact, 3 more minutes worth of timesave through clever use of one of the game's main abilities has been found in the last few months and has yet to be seen in a marathon. It also features an amazing soundtrack, very minimal and quick grinding, and also has an extensive speedrun history over the last 5 years.

Cthulhu Saves the World
System: PC
Category: Any%
Estimate: 0:50:00
Description: A run I am on backup for at RPGLB2017. It's a quirky and very fast RPG speedrun, spoofing the 16 bit era of RPGs while paying tribute to it. The route of the game is interesting and features a lot of variety, as 6 of the game's 7 playable characters are used in this run and good or bad luck on bosses can force you to improvise and stay on your toes. The script and presentation are both amusing and satirical, with plenty of nonsense moments such as a battle with Cthulhu's ex girlfriend, the Ape Princess.

Doritos Dash of Destruction
System: Xbox 360
Category: All T-Rex Levels
Estimate: 0:08:00
Description: Offering this entirely for the purpose of "if we need to kill 15 minutes in the event of an emergency." It's honestly not particularly interesting as a speedrun, but it is chock full of goofy entertainment value and it doesn't overstay its welcome. I could bust out a 5-7 minute run of this game on a whim in case the marathon needs to kill time.

Game Name: Phantasy Star II
System: Sega Genesis (emulator)
Category: 100%
Estimate: 2:30:00
Description: This game is a classic RPG and one that helped pave the way for the RPGs we all know and love today. Anybody who has ever played this game as a child knows for certain how brutal and time-consuming the game can be casually, especially in grinding elements. The 100% takes the same route that a casual player would take, but makes use of a couple of glitches to take away the grinding aspect of the game without taking away from the overall demonstration of what the game had to offer. Also, the run is 99% safe with literally zero chance of having to rip the run. Donation incentives can be to name each of the characters aside from Rolf, Nei, and Shir (5 characters to name (Rudo, Amy, Hugh, Anna, Kain), 4 letters each).
Video link: http://www.speedrun.com/run/wzpe14ry

Game Name: Phantasy Star II
System: Sega Genesis (emulator)
Category: Any%/Neimy%
Estimate: 45:00
Description: Similar to the 100% run mentioned above, but this is makes use of glitches moreso in order to get all the key items and to skip about 2/3 of the game. A very safe game, though one misstep in setting up the glitch may cause a reset and waste about 5-10 minutes. Because of the glitches, random encounters are only encountered in the overworld and in one dungeon. Donation incentive for naming two characters (Rudo and Amy).
Video link: http://www.speedrun.com/run/7z00n3oz

Game Name: Phantasy Star III
System: Sega Genesis (emulator)
Category: Any% or AllGen%
Estimate: Between 3:30:00 and 5:30:00
Description: Labeled as the black sheep of the Phantasy Star series, Phantasy Star III is still a classic that broke the mold and introduced new elements that have rarely been seen in any RPG since. The game also has quite a bit to laugh at because of the design choices (enemies who wiggle their ears to attack, or a monster I call MetaSigma who flexes his pectorals to attack). The first part of the game is not as safe as the rest, and there will be plenty of safety saves because of it to limit the amount of time wasted in a reset. The reason I put such a large gap in the time estimate and the reason I placed two categories in this offer is because of a possible donation incentive: Because of the game's unique Generation System, you end up with one of four possible ending characters: Aron, Adan, Crys, and Sean (in order of quickest to slowest). Aron's quest makes use of the Generation Skip glitch to save a ton of time (Any%), while the others do not (AllGen%). Adan can be completed in about 4 hours, while Crys and Sean both take close to 5 1/2 hours. If there is no need for the incentive then it is best to choose the Any% route.

Game Name: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
System: GBA (Wii U VC)
Category: Glitchless
Estimate: 00:42:00
Description: Aria of Sorrow Glitchless is an entertaining run that contains going through the area at low levels and contains some intense boss fights and areas because of this. Despite being glitchless the run isn't too long thanks to lots of movement techniques and minor sequence breaks that don't use glitches.
Video:

Game: Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow
System: GBA (Wii U VC)
Category: Any% No 0HP Glitch
Estimate 00:16:00
Description: No 0HP Glitch is the "marathon safe" Any% route as well as the one that is commonly ran, thus being it's own category. This category shows off a variety of glitches and how the game can be beaten extremely fast with them, would make a good bonus run along with glitchless.

Game Name: Pokémon Diamond
System: DS
Category: Any%
Estimate: 1:30:00
Description: The same Pokemon run I'll be submitting for SGDQ. The run is very consistent thanks to RNG Manipulation for very good stats and the use of the move Hidden Power. The run skips straight to the end of the game once Jupiter is beaten thanks to a gen 4 exclusive glitch called tweaking. A new version of this run's tweaking glitch was found very recently, which makes the run significantly shorter(given that this is a 1 hour speedrun),and allows us to save before dangerous fights, which makes the run way more safe. The high estimate is meant to account for failed attempts at the RNG manipulation. (NOTE: The submission uses an outdated version of the tweak)

Game Name : Shovel Knight
System : PC
Category : Shovel Knight Any%, Shovel Knight Low% or Shovel Knight Low% NG+
Estimates : 50:00,55:00,1:15:00
Description : Shovel Knight has always been a great show on any marathon. It's a great speedrun that takes from a lot of different games to create a smooth experience. I'm submitting Shovel Knight Low% NG+ as an incentive for Shovel Knight Low%. the idea is that you take double damage and you don't get any food in any plates to get your life back minus in the boss rush. So if people want to make my life harder they could donate towards that ^^. Shovel Knight Any% is more popular than Low% but both are great runs. The first one uses every aspect of the game to go as fast as possible while the second one is using the very basics of the game to make it to the end.

Description: Sparkster is an extremely fast-paced action platformer that has seen a couple of AGDQ outings. Since picking up the game I've converted it into a science, and have done some extremely consistent marathon showings that have been very close to PB/WR, despite the presence of RNG in the run. This run has always left a significant impression on the marathons it is featured in and is a real spectator treat... If people can keep up with what's going on.

Game Name: Undertale
System: PC
Category: Genocide
Estimate: 01:10:00
Description: Undertale was a phenomenal success at AGDQ, but many people have not yet seen the Genocide route. True Pacifist does little to show the game's combat system, or how challenging some of the fights can be, whereas Genocide showcases the two most well-known fights in the game. Plenty of RNG, but not enough to cause a disaster, and lots of fighting. There is a lot of 'downtime' in the run, but I'm more than practiced enough at providing commentary.

Game Name: Sonic Advance
System: GBA Player on GC
Category: Sonic/Tails/Knuckles/Amy (Character Bid War)
Estimate: 0:25:00 for any character
Description: The simplest and shortest of the advance trilogies, but plays the most similarly as the genesis games. This has the most out of bounds depending on which character (Knux has 3, Tails has 2, Sonic/Amy have 1). It's the shortest of my advance offerings, and each character offers different abilities that change up their respective runs a lot.

Game Name: Sonic Advance 2
System: GBA Player on GC
Category: Sonic/Cream/Tails/Knuckles/Amy (Character Bid War)
Estimate: 0:30:00 for Sonic, 0:40:00 for others
Description: One of the fastest 2D sonic games, the run is about retaining boost state. While Sonic is the fastest, safest, and flashiest character (and the game is built around him and his air dash), I can run the game with all other characters; however, there isn't much variety with any non-Sonic character due to the run's over-reliance on boost state.

Game Name: Sonic Advance 3

Category: Any% (Incentive for 100%)
Estimate: 0:55:00 (100% - 1:35:00)
Description: Another fast 2D sonic platformer, featuring the team mechanics of pairing two characters together, and using the tag action. This is, by far, the most complex of the three advance games, featuring a bit of team variety to fit the stage design. The 100% category has more interesting routing choices, more team variety, and showcases much more of the levels where I have to collect all the chao, but each special stage is also an autoscroller. I prefer to run 100% since I've recently finished rerouting it and am more practiced with it, but it is also significantly longer.

Game Name: Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn

Category: Easy Mode with Transfers (NTSC)
Estimate: 2:50:00
Description: The direct sequel to Path of Radiance. This strategy/rpg game features more variety of strategy and character usage than PoR, despite being dominated by Haar and Jill. It's very fast-paced thanks to completely skipping animations. Transfers involves using a transfer file from path of radiance that boost some characters' stats for a more reliable run. However, the endgame is a massive slog of rout chapters, moreso than PoR.

does anything more need to be said?
if you think so, I'll knock you in the head!

(a donation incentive for minigames can be put up for $100 and for tilt cam which is like half the experience)

Game Name: Sonic Riders
System: Nintendo Gamecube
Category: Heroes story
Estimate: 20:00
Description:

A modern Sonic hoverboard racing game from the 2006 era of sonic. Collect rings and use air to boost and go faster and do execution based tricks to get it back and keep that speed going, making meter and ring management important to the run. This category goes through the 6 heroes story races and gets to the credits. There are a couple of skips that save almost a minute in the 2nd and 4th levels of the game that are a sight to behold. The AI doesn't rubber band at all making this a solid racing speedgame. For a race against Celestics a wait time of 43 seconds will be applied to accommodate for PC's faster load time difference.

Game Name: Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland
System: Nintendo Gamecube
Category: Meta Knightmare any%
Estimate: 35:00
Description:

This is an alternate character mode in Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland where you play through the game as Meta Knight.  Meta Knight moves slightly faster than Kirby running, has 3 points of health and a permanent sword ability with some additional moves.  The game uses an in game timer to keep track of how long you take to complete the game.  End stage cutscenes are taken out and the game is streamlined to go faster than Kirby's mode.

Category: Big the Cat
Estimate: 0:09:00
Description: It's Big the Cat. Need I say more?

Video:

Game: Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood
System: DS
Category: Any% NG+
Estimate: 2:05:00
Description: Sonic's first (and only) turn-based role playing game. Movement throughout the overworld relies on the use of the stylus bringing a sense of control similar to the Zelda DS titles. The game has a battle system akin to Elite Beat Agents where attacks are timed through tapping and dragging the stylus in order to connect attacks. With NG+, levels are carried over from a previous file and with these high levels, it makes RNG nearly irrelevant and makes most fights go by much faster.

Game: Sonic Rush
System: DS
Category: 100% (Open for Sonic% vs Blaze% bid war as well)
Estimate: 2:30:00 (50:00 for individual stories)
Description: The first 2D Sonic game for the DS. The gameplay is similar to the Sonic Advance games, but now with a boost meter. Oh, and a purple cat that isn't Big the Cat. 100% is defined by collecting all the chaos emeralds as Sonic and finishing both Sonic and Blaze's campaigns to unlock the true final boss. I'm open to doing a bid war for which character to play as for an Any% run if that is a more desirable idea.
