I have 2 questions, 1 specifically to DD:

1) Does deathwarping allowed by SDA rules on this no Up+A run?
Like in Level 5 after getting the recorder?

For DD : 2) How many keys you have after Level 1? Level 1 offers lots of key paths cannot see chich one is best.

Trying to come back to this game just saw this thread might force me to try a run myself.

Good question on number 1.  We may need a ruling on that.  I've been death warping in level 3 occasionally if I have 1 or fewer hearts going into the raft room.  Death warping in 5 would save around 25 seconds.  I have never done that.  Getting the death animation in level 3 pretty much makes dieing and walking out of the raft room a wash.  I just do it to regain health.  I would prefer no deaths over deaths allowed, since forcing myself to get hit against the darknuts just looks bad to me.

For question the second, I have to think about it since my key route is so ingrained that I don't remember what keys I have at what time, except for the entrance to 6, since I've been known to miss a key for some reason meaning I would be out going into six and would need to go right to get the key in that room.

Let's see.  I get two in level 3 and use one, I think.  Level 4 I pick up one and use one.  Level one I pick up five and use three? Or is it two?  Plus I reenter the dungeon to open the initial door.  Level 5 I pick up two and use one?  Level 2 I pick up three I think and don't remember how many I use.  Level 7 I pick up none I believe and use 2.  Level 6 is two keys and two used.  8 is two picked up and one used and nine is none picked up and three used.

I don't know if it should be written down but death warping shouldn't be allowed.
It might saves let's say 45 sec at the end but it looks bad and it's pretty dumb I think.

I've written down how many keys and walls to be bombed in every dungeons:

Level 1 : 5K 1B
Level 2 : 0K 0B
Level 3 : 1K 2B
Level 4 : 2K 2B
Level 5 : 2K 2B
Level 6 : 2K 1B
Level 7 : 3K 5B
Level 8 : 1K 2B
Level 9 : 3K 6B (5 Walls + Entrance)

Right now,  this is my key number before each dungeon. Might not optimal but I'm pretty sure it's allright overall:

Level 3 : 0 (get 2)
Level 4 : 1 (get 2)
Level 1 : 1 (get 5)
Level 5 : 1 (get 2)
Level 2 : 1 (get 3)
Level 7 : 4 (get 0)

You want to get the key to the right of the entrance room in 8.  Much faster than killing the Like Like/Zol combo in level 9.  I used to do that, but it saves 5-10 getting the second key in 8.

And you really should count the bomb needed to access level 9.  Need two more for quicker kills in level 1, etc.

I've edited to be more clear in the keys for each dungeons.

Also, I only write obligatory bombs and not bombs for enemies. You're right for level 9, I'll add a bomb for entrance.

In level 3, do you get the key North from darknuts or you get the one North-West from Entrance (probably with bombs)?
I feel getting 3 keys in level 3 might be better. (but more luck dependant but since it's 1min into the run it's ok in my book)

My understanding is that runs with and without deaths would be separate categories, so you can pretty much go nuts either way and it won't affect your chances in verification.

I just analysed all the maps and yeah it's not the best idea.
No key takes more time than getting one of those keys.

The only informative thing I learned after today's practice was that I'm disliking Breakdown's route more. 

Optimally, you use three bombs in level 1.  Then the route calls for three bombs before the darknuts in level 5, so I have to have 6 bombs coming out of 4, where I have to use two, and would be inefficient not to use any in the two forced Vire rooms.

This means for this route to proceed, you MUST get a bomb drop in the second vire room, and that's depressing.

I also want at least one bomb in my inventory at all times so that I don't have to go into the menu to go back to bombs if I run out, so that means I need SEVEN bombs coming out of 4.

With bombs before Level 3, is it possible to have 30 rupees after Level 4?

Why?

Plausible, but you need bunches of rupee drops and lots of bomb drops.  Seems like you'd be wasting a lot of time killing enemies.

Before posting routes, I want to test them a little this weekend after my exam week is over.
Don't want to post bad routes just to post routes.
I'm still in brainstorming mode.

But mainly, I think getting the candle after 4 to get candle as early as possible.
The problem is both 100 ruppees spot are out of the way.

If you want the candle early, win at money making game.  It's a maddening process.  It's why I'm not doing it for this route.

Got a 36:03 on Breakdown's modified route.  Finally had some decent splits.  I may be crazy shooting for sub 35, but that's my aim at the moment.

I've watch your attempts on justin the other day was pretty entertaining. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one resetting a lot in level 3 and 4.
Gratz for your 36:03. Looking good.

Finishing lvl 3 and 4 under 6 minutes and with enough bombs (5+) demands a lot of luck. My best is 6:29 and I don't think I will be able to replicate it anytime soon.

Edit : I cut the 40 for the 1st time tonight with a 39:58 (Got the potion before 5 and used it once in lvl 9). Milestone 1 broken.

I'm going to try to keep a running tally of bomb drops from the first octorok.  Easy to forget exact numbers, but I think I ended up with two even numbers.  Did 60 attempts today, got a bomb drop off 20 octoroks.  33% so far.  Was in the teens at one point, but got 5 or 6 in a row at the end.

Just curious when did you start to really be serious about speedrunning this game?

Let's see.  I wanted to do something in the slim chance I could make AGDQ2, and Mike closed game suggestions right around SGDQ, so I couldn't suggest a new game.  I looked at the game list at the time and Zelda was the best option for me, so I started looking into doing a marathon route for the game.  I don't think I was serious about it until I lost my job in early September.  Don't think I was terribly serious about a recorded run until I got the 37:04 using marathon strats.
