Question:
The Immortal (NES version), level 6 --
Right before entering the water area, there is a troll that you must pass.  It's not hard to bypass him with the amulet, but apparently there is some way to kill him instantly. (with fireballs from your staff, i guess?)

Can anyone tell me how that trick is done?

See the following vid[tt][/tt]eo for an example:  (time index 0:22)

Unfortunatly I dont know, but Ill see if I cant duplicate it.

I have to laugh dude because we have a way similar taste in games. I picked this up about a month ago and was trying out some variations. Im sure you already know you can skip the ememy in the goblin king room in level 2 right? There is also the coffee pot you give to the programmers. HA, I just loved that.

Actually give me some of your splits (I know you work with Fceux)
and well get some competition going  Wink

EDIT: I also did a double take at your new avatar a couple of days ago. I was working on the same thing awhile ago, except my Lolo was getting a knife to the head  Cheesy

Yeah.  I think you can actually skip all the encounters in the game except for the first three (and possibly the one in the Level 4 exit-room).

I'm still in the practice phase now, but i'm expecting a final (console) time of about 12:45 -- measuring up to the moment "magnet" is used.  I'm not sure what's a reasonable time (far as i know, there's no TAS), but i'm certain i can improve on the TG record of 13:41.

Heh.  I actually thought the animation might go well with the "Jizz in my pants" music video.

The Mega Drive version is far superior to this one. Cry
My feelings on The Demon Rush
It also has a TAS, though I have no idea if it's similar enough to the NES version.

I've watched the Genesis TAS.  The levels, items, encounters are slightly different.  Many of the tricks in the Genesis TAS do not work for NES, so it's not as helpful as i'd hoped.  (Plus, the genesis version has fire scrolls, so there's no need to find clever ways of avoiding certain encounters).  But it does give some idea of the kind of tricks and glitches to look for.
I havent watched the TAS yet. I can recall a spider level on the Genesis. I believe they omited it in the NES version, because at the time, Nintendo had that G image thing going. I think you can warp past on the Genesis for a speed run though.

12:45 is very nice. Thats what found about Immortal, even though it takes awhile to beat originally, its very good for speed running.

I guess it wouldn't hurt to post here. Sorry for bumping a 3 year old topic, but it didn't feel right to start a new one.

I've been working on a run for this game on and off over the past months, and I've finally managed to score a time of 11:06 with an "any%" mindset. (One death to save time, fastest ending.)

For what it's worth, my attempt of this sort could probably be improved by around 6-9 seconds, depending on how the timer for the teleporter in level 3 works. I'm going to assume it's on a global timer, and that the possible 2 seconds I could save in level 1 would be negated by having to wait longer in level 3.

If my any% run isn't accepted, I'll still post a video to Youtube for the sake of showing my strategy and possibly spawning some healthy competition. Might even work on Feasel's version so that he'll have motivation to come back and beat me. Tongue
