I think I can make some adjustments I'm not sure about manipulating drops or skipping enemies. but I think Teleport warps out of battle at first read through I thought It said the TAS route. the route is totally doable. minus double drops from what I know. also ugh glitches are done on a famicom.
Translated SFC FF5 is on the SGDQ possible games list because it's basically the same as the English Playstation version, only with much faster loading times.
It's still a hack....and it's not an official translation. I remember people hating the idea of using the patch for FFXII International -- which can make a MUCH faster speedrun -- even though it actually DOES use the official translation for 99.9% of it.
Let's not debate things that have already been decided, a priori, in a thread not even related to SGDQ. I'm getting tempted to kill this thread, because we're over a year off to the next marathon, and this discussion is really accomplishing nothing.
a priori relates to things (e.g., actions) that come from assumptions or deductions, as opposed to observing what actually happens. So, in other words, "Let's not debate things that have already been decided, before even seeing how they turn out, in a thread not even related to SGDQ."
And yes, Alko, it probably would have been clearer to word it, "Let's not debate, a priori, things that have already been decided..." (you win a -15 second bonus on your next run attempt ).
Je parle avec JDRF et UPS maintenant sur le envoi des pris. Je me souviens les pris, mais je n'ai pas écrit encore aux gagnants. Je vais écrire bientôt
As the guilty party of the SDGQ debacle, I will say that a translation patch is a far cry from the patch I used.
For one thing, a translation patch probably takes itself seriously, as will the runner and audience in the room. The Justin Bailey hack encouraged myself and other members of the audience (not naming names, except Romscout) to engage in low-grade attempts at humor, at the expense of the artist and perhaps arguably at the expense of women everywhere. Not my finest moment (note that this run is not and will never be posted to my youtube channel.)
A translation patch, especially if it's a good one, will only increase the accessibility of the content to more people; something I suspect FF3j needs. It's not going to elicit the same reaction and behavior that my ill-chosen Super Metroid patch did.
Of course there are probably just as many pros as there are cons and each argument is valid, thus it will basically be a style choice to be decided by Poxnor.
Don't put yourself down, period. It was poorly received -- okay, lesson learned. But to paint yourself as some sort of mysogonist is so far beyond the truth that I simply can't let you do that. Fine, it was poorly received. Fine, it wasn't the best taste. But don't ever put yourself down personally for trying to do something (with good humour and good intent) for charity.

Well, the point wasn't about how badly I behaved on stream. It was about how you can't compare a translation patch to a graphic hack that people may or may not choose to find offensive. I wasn't really arguing myself as a misogynist, but there were others who seemed to think I was acting in such a way.
In either case, if any further thought than "this could raise money as a donation war" was put behind the offering, it probably would have been rejected my either myself or the chain of command involved with SGDQ. So I would just recommend that you put thought behind this and any other nontraditional choices like that (and some of the traditional ones, too.) Do you think a translation patch would offer more benefits than the alternatives? What are the alternatives? Is FF3j even a game worth considering? And so on...

In case anyone else is being like me and watching through the archives, it should be noted that in addition to FFX and a few other spots FFGamer noted, FF4 is missing a half an hour part in the archive (From getting the key to baron to Kain becoming unbrainwashed the first time)
I do not believe they were as I also did not get one, but to put this in perspective: from what I understand, Uyama was still shipping prizes from AGDQ in January very recently.
True, but there still were a lot of prizes for C4L that have to be shipped and the logistics to work out. It is a lot of work and its understandable that there are delays.
No, it's not understandable. It's been my fault that I've been slow getting the prizes -- and even the emails -- out, plain and simple.
But, if you're feeling neglected, just think of this: I'm moving this summer, and we want to get our house listed. So, I need to get these prizes out the door more quickly.
But seriously, people, they're coming. Please stop ragging on me. It's my fault it's taking so long, and I freely admit it. But pestering me isn't actually going to help.
