Question- I won a prize (The Chocobo/Moogle Perlers from the FF6 run), but I have yet to be contacted, even though it was said in the thread contacting happened last weekend.

Has it happened and somehow I was missed?  Or has it not happened yet and I'm worrying needlessly?

Regarding C4L Prizes

I haven't forgotten about the winners.  I am actively in talks with JDRF and UPS to secure a shipping deal.  My apologies that it's taking so long, but this has not been forgotten.  I want to get all those prizes out of my bonus room as much as you want to receive them Smiley
Moo! Flap! Hug!
Thanks, Sir VG.  The plan was for me to contact the winners last week.  However, getting all the shipping details ironed out is just taking longer than I thought it would.  Sorry for the delays, but this process of trying to get so many different groups talking about this process is just taking longer than I expected.
ah, thanks.  I misunderstood, thought that was just referencing in terms of shipping, and that he had previously contacted winners and was now on the next step (shipping).

Thanks : )
So I have a silly question for you guys: I've been using keepvid (keepvid.com) to download the stream archives in 30 minute chunks so I could put them on my ipod for commute-watching.  However, for some reason, keepvid seems to no longer work on twitch videos.

Does anyone have any better methods of downloading multiple parts of twitch videos?  It's a massive pain and I've only seen like 4 of the runs.

Thanks

Use the method discussed in this YouTube video:

Yeah Pretty sure that's an old one that doesn't work anymore - doing this only gets you the first 30 minutes of any video, since the page only shows the location of the first flash video. (I can't tell for sure since I can't listen at work)

Stupid question. If your using links, can you use ?t=30m to just get the next 30 minute block?
Fucking Weeaboo
Maybe. I know the process of getting Twitch vids with that method works, but don't know its limitations. I had used it to get a highlight of me winning the grand prize. Tongue
can you post the email address you will be contacting the winners from so i can add it to the safe senders list

thanks

I found some good prizes for next year's C4L marathon. I'll try to not lose them in the next year. Tongue

I've also come across another prize for next year's C4L marathon. Sealed in fact. I'll also try not to lose it in the next year.

would there be a way to get an nes translation on a wii?

If you could swap out the rom contained in the Japanese VC version with a translated one, in theory, yes.
and then I realized that a patch was applied to super metroid during a marathon. (for zero suit samus). I guessing that can also happen with nes game on the wii VC.

I guess we'll see how well receive the megaman 4 hack will be.

More seriously, I think what that taught us was, not quite "Don't ever allow ROM hacks in a marathon again", but "For the love of the Deity of Your Choice,  vet the ROM hack BEFOREHAND so we avoid instances like that."

the other alternative is to have an interpreter (maybe, I'm looking into ways around it) and a japanese wii with ff3. that is if I can come.
Professional Shaq Fu Speedrunner
well, a wii with the homebrew channel and the japanese copy of ff3. After all, region changing the Wii isn't hard and a its done by a lot of people.
Fucking Weeaboo
Well, I see a translated SFC version of FFV down for SGDQ 2013, so I think doing a translated version of FFIII would be OK.

all I really need translated are a small amount of a few ,11-14,item names

Well, here's two translation patches. I don't know right now how to replace ROM files in VC WADs, but I know there's a way. (Note to SDA Staff: These are just translation patches, THERE ARE NO ROMS LINKED.)

I know the Alex Jackson translation to be excellent, plus it seems the other patch adds hacked functionality such as b dashing.

Here's a tutorial on how to inject ROMs into WADs. Again, no ROMs here, and no common-key.bin (actually the two links are dead, just consider this page a tutorial page): http://www.se7ensins.com/forums/threads/tut-injecting-roms-into-wads.66200/

As for the programs, just google search "Impalers Wad Injector" (no quotes) and the first result will provide you with the program. I won't direct link it since it has common-key.bin there in the download.

Translated SFC FF5 is on the SGDQ possible games list because it's basically the same as the English Playstation version, only with much faster loading times.

IMO for NES FF3 to have a chance at making a marathon lineup (given that it was never officially released in English) the run should involve some of the memory corruption glitches the segmented run on SDA uses (which according to someone I know familiar with the game are possible to do in an SS run with enough practice), since with good commentary that could be entertaining for people that have never played the game.

and my feelings of running the game are crushed.... Oh well maybe megaman 6 for SGDQ 2014.
