2:45 is definitely possible now. Also I played the game with the voice language set to Spanish and I think it's faster than default English! Saved time on splits and had gotten gold splits on times where I didn't think it was possible. Also had 1 stupid death in this run and HORRIBLE luck at the final Ruvik fight with the rocket launcher. This can be 2:45 easily for sure.

Holy shit this is awesome! Somebody took all the scenes from the game The Evil Within, edited clips together with music and made it a 2 hour movie. EXTREMELY well done. Smiley

I just read about a 1 GB update for PS4/X1. Any idea what it does?

I read minor bugfixes and optimizations. It doesn't specify anything about these.

I'm wondering myself. I just read up on it earlier tonight and downloading the update now. I don't know what it entails. I wonder if they saw much of the glitch videos and fixed some stuff, I hope not. Especially the chapter 1 trick with the Sadist and the locker so he knocks down the door. Also wonder if they found and fixed the sequence break in chapter 11. Again I really hope not. We will see.

Okay so from testing with the new update so far, no they didn't fix the Sadist trick in chapter 1. Also the OoB in Chapter 11 that you found Zero still works where you blow yourself under the elevator in the water and get pushed under the level oob. Also the sequence break I found in chapter 11 still works. Rocket Launcher storage glitch still works, Chapter 2 out of bounds still works, Chapter 1 softlock still works, Chapter 3 oob glitch at the start of the chapter still works as well. Also the oob glitch blowing yourself past the spikes in chapter 3 that Zero found still works.

The ONLY difference I've noticed so far is the surveillance video cutscene in the opening area of chapter 1 where Ruvik attacks the police officers. It looks a LOT nicer. Brighter and much more pretty and clear. Smiley

Will keep testing.

So I tested a few more things. They finally fixed the guy's hair in the cutscene outside the barn in chapter 9. The blonde guy with the torch always had glitchy and fucked up hair in the next gen versions, so they finally fixed that. The chapter 9 OoB glitch still works climbing on the fence and jumping out over the fence out to the field of flowers OoB so that's cool. Also the chapter 15 softlock still works. Will keep testing.

I'm surprised they bothered fixing anything.
Is it Bethesda or Tango who pay for such things? Watching my brother play Skyrim the other day and the amount of obvious gigantic glitches, I don't think they're going to do anything about the ones in TEW. I doubt they bother searching videos either.

Well someone got out of bounds in chapter 15:

It's funny because I was literally just trying that earlier today. I wanna to get on the spikes as they rose up to push me up out of the level and out of bounds but I couldn't get it right and kinda gave up. Probably useless unless you can jump out over into the next room and it remains unloaded and you can just run to the white light at the end and skip the whole area. Because running to that light normally in the next run transports you outside to the final room you enter to the elevator. I also found a ton of new glitches and weird stuff in chapter 10 today that might lead to a skip and in other chapters too. I'm tired and it's late though so I'll upload it and post it all here tomorrow. Night. Smiley

It sounds like they updated it mostly for performance, which is what they need to focus on since the game ran like ass at launch. I haven't tried it yet, but it also sounds like the controls are improved as well

You are finding really weird glitches and bugs that 99% of players won't ever see anyways.

So happy we're FINALLY hearing about it. The bad news is we only get 1 part of the DLC so far and it's STILL until early 2015, yikes! I was hoping all at once, Or at least part 1 of DLC at like very start of January or for Christmas or something, oh well.

Description: Improved my previous world record by 1 second, even with getting hit by the sadist at the end! I think 11:00 is possible. The video cuts forward slightly at 1:02 into the recording. I watched back and the stream archive did that as well so it must have been the PS4 stream app fucking up. The rest seems good though. Smiley

I did it! With the new strats I reran and got a 10:55 on chapter 1 for a new world record! Smiley

This will be very hard to beat. At the moment my twitch recording is totally messed up and won't let me highlight it, so for now just have the screenshot I took from PS4:

So the twitch recording was completely fucked and wouldn't let me highlight it and kept cutting out and glitching. So I streamed it and recorded it AGAIN, and guess what? I got a 10:55 again! Smiley

But guess what? THE RECORDING MESSED UP AGAIN! lol. My luck man.

Luckily though it's only the first few seconds of the recording (first 50 seconds or so) it keeps cutting forward, but it's before the chapter even starts, so that's good. Anyways here's the new WR chapter 1:

10:55 is amazing for now with the new strats. 10:54 is possible but hard.

I found a semi consistent way to get the Chapter 15 Double Keeper Out Of Bounds Glitch:

Description: Originally discovered by the Youtube user "TROK"

I found this semi consistent setup to get the glitch though, so not AS random and rare to get originally as I thought. Out of bounds you can climb up higher on different parts of the roofs and almost get back to the entrance at which you entered the room. You can also see the hallway in the other room where you leave to after you finish the fight with Ruvik. If we could find a way to clear the huge gap around the wall and jump over to the other room we could maybe run to the tunnel of light at the end and skip the whole Double Keeper fight and Ruvik's trap room. Sadly the gap looks too big though and the wall is too high to get over so we have to go around the left or right and just fall to our doom. Oh well, another useless glitch... Sad

New update! I found a spot in the room where you can follow the wall along out of bounds and make it just INCHES away from the next Ruvik room. If you get close enough the music just STOPS and the double keepers just DISAPPEAR and despawn in the previous room. Then you can go back into the room and fall into the floor and under the floor it is surrounded with blood. So you can go around swimming INSIDE the floor haha. It's pretty hilarious. Uploading this and will post it here. I tried to keep swimming through the floor past the wall blocking us to the next room but JUST as you get through wall Sebastian falls under level still. Maybe some hope though if I can find a way to clear the new gap now.

GameFAQs in general is full of this type. Many times I've seen a speedrunner posting a time, perfectly friendly and was abused and degraded for it.

There's a group that actually hate speedrunning. If they aren't posting outright abuse, they're saying bizarre things like "I will never understand why someone would want to speedrun a game". They do understand though, kind of impossible not to as it's not at all complicated.

My favorite that I've heard all over the internet is, "I enjoy <insert game> too much to rush through it."

That one is so funny and absurd. Because it's not possible to enjoy a game and optionally speedrun it at any time? LOLOLOL
They make it sound like you can only do one or the other. Morons.

As for the guy posting that fast time, he was probably playing on casual which would make it possible. They wouldn't know that each difficultyu is it's own category. The idiots in that topic established in the first few posts that they don't know a thing about speedrunning or categories. One guy said NG+ is cheating. That pretty much sums up this type.
