Years ago the identification of AVerMedia cards was easy. You had the C027 (US model) and the equivalent European model which included an FM tuner called H727. There also exists the C727 but this is much more expensive and consists of a blue PCB. In the past, the C027 and the H727 both had the same PCB from what I can tell. I've even seen high resolution close up C027 pictures that still have the H727 branding on the top right of the PCB.
However, I stumbled on something I haven't heard much talk about. It looks like the C027 (dubbed "DarkCrystal HD Capture Pro") sometime in early 2013 changed completely and did away with the H727 PCB. They also changed the dongle cable from this: http://i.imgbox.com/dKdmLtRg.jpg to this http://i.imgbox.com/aox0koTf.jpg (although it seems they changed the dongle cable before they changed the PCB looking at numerous unboxing videos).
Look at these YouTube video unboxings I screen capped to show what I mean.
Late 2012:

Mid 2013 (aka the PCB redesign):

I probably would have missed this if it wasn't for the lack of capacitors on the new PCB (easy to visually see). Obviously this isn't an issue anyone should worry about but I'm guessing with a new PCB the video quality will be different (for better or worse). What also has me guessing this is that years ago when the Aver HDCP trick was widely used, I'm pretty sure I remember successfully using the C027 drivers with my H727 but now when I try to do the same thing, it won't even register the installation of the drivers. Only the H727 specific drivers now work.
