Contra is now down to 10:06. While it can go a bit lower, we're going to shift gears to Super C. Two out of three down.

Willing to teach you the impossible
Looking for a ruling from mike tomorrow morning (for us, afternoon for east coasters) about a debate... The conference is almost a 100% victory.

And thus, on the day before the day before Christmas, the gathering of similarly minded video game masochists called the Contra Conference came to an end.
From the idea that one can only play with oneself for so long before reaching a state of near self-contempt, the conference had sprung into existence like a white knight mounted bare chested on a heavy armored tank and in each hand clutching a shining peace-delivering spread gun.
During the week of the conference we actually managed to achieve some co-op goodness. Have a summary:
- Contra: about 250 attempts, a submittable run clocking in at 10:06 and an audio commentary with a very frightening opening.
- Super C: about 550 attempts ending with a best time of 13:20, which unfortunately is seconds away from being submittable (Heidrage's 1-player run is 13:18).
- Contra III: about 175 attempts, 13 minutes and 48 seconds of submittable posing; and an audio commentary wherein Heidrage reaches a state of bliss so intense his body can no longer control many of its major functions.
- Contra Force: sigh.
Other notable events:
- Mr. K completes Contra III with a "don't try this at home, kids" style configuration: NES controller for d-pad and jump, Wii classic controller for fire. 1 guy 2 controllers.
- DK28 and Hurblat finish their first ever attempt at Contra III co-op in a respectable 15:15.
- Heidrage, acting against the will of the mayor, sets out on a quest for a speedrun massage. The category ended up not being a "best ending" (probably for the best).
- DK28 and Hurblat discover the pun mastery and pure joy of Konami instruction manuals. While reading through the ones for Super C and Contra Force they manage to ruin tens of Super C attempts by Heidrage not being able to laugh and play at the same time.
