Quote from ZenicReverie:
That looks like Battle City I mentioned earlier.

holy crap, yes it's exactly THIS game ;). THANKS, ZenicReverie!
Quote from ZenicReverie:
What year was the first time you saw the game?

Very good question, I have no idea. I think I played it when I was around 12 years or so, so that's 15 years ago.

I'm guessing PC means Windows, but what version of Windows?

Yes Windows, probably either Windows 95 or 98.

And no it's not Imogen.

Oh, I missed MatrixTN's earlier and didn't see it until I looked at the first post again. Grin

I instantly thought of Ready 2 Rumble, although I'm not positive, simply because that is such a Midway thing to do.

I played R2R a couple times at a Gamestop, don't think that's it though.  Like I said, it's my friend that's been hunting around but doesn't know and he's got another friend thats being a fink by not telling him what the name is.  I'll talk to my friend next time I see him.  Can we label this as unsure or something for the time being?

Just a thought to rule it out.  It's not Three Dirty Dwarves right?  I can't seem to find any other game where you're switching between three characters.
Exoray
Quote from TheVoid:
I've got a question myself, been wondering and searching about this game from time to time but I just can't find it so maybe someone here knows.

The game was very similar to Lost Vikings. It also had 3 characters (Which were animals of some sort. I should also need to mention that they were just standing/walking like persons, not crawling around on 4 legs or something) with each their own abilities. One was a kind of General I believe, one an archer and the other was just a big brute. The models and such were more 3D-ish than Lost Vikings and the graphics were also newer/better looking overall, but the camera view was still from the side.
If I remember correctly I played it on the PC.

Sounds alot like Gobliiins, although the classes you mention does not entirely match up.
I'm seeking a game I've played about 15 years ago on C64. These are the details I remember:

* Typical 2D jump'n'run game, one of the few C64 games that scroll both horizontally and vertically
* Player character looks like a human (much more tall than wide, unlike e.g. Super Mario)
* Game was quite extensive (many and/or large levels)
* You can shoot forward or up (possibly also 45° diagonally). Shots are small white dots, travel in a straight line and rather slowly.
* When jumping, after a short while you'll lose horizontal velocity, thus there's a fixed maximum horizontal jump distance, no matter from how far above you've jumped
* Enemy spawning seems to be controlled by either the player or the scrolling being in a certain position. When standing still in that position more and more instances of that enemy spawn (up to the built-in limit of IIRC 3 instances)

No. The game I'm searching for has nothing to do with dwarves. So it's also not Gobliiins.

XFUBX: Was your post directed to me? If yes, then no Smiley

Maybe my game was part of a Sierra pack or something. It's annoying that I can't remember more specific things about it...

Spoke to my friend yesterday, still not sure if R2R is it or not.
I used to be athiest until I realized I was God.
Sorry I can't answer any of the open ones,

I have TWO that are going to drive me nuts if I can't find it...

First, is one old DOS game. This is one where you enter some school. You'd wander around, and every now and then a robot would come out and SCARE the SHIT out of me when I was young. You had to take its picture, which for some reason, solved the threat. At the end you got a high score based on who knows what. I can't withdraw much knowledge about this game, but I remember paintbrushes are involved... sorry it's very foggy.

The second is another old dos game, a platformer. It had real catchy music. You played some character that wore a hat so low you couldn't see his face. You'd wander through temples, megaman-style (being able to pick which temple you want at the beginning). You'd have to work your way through there, kinda solving puzzles. One very specific thing was some triangle-shaped mirrors. You could rotate them, and then shoot a laser at them. The angle of the mirror would determine the angle of the laser, and these are the puzzles you have to solve to progress.

I'm almost positive both of these were educational games, but I don't have much more information.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Siyko, the second one sounds like http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Challenge_of_the_Ancient_Empires!

Woohoo, thanks!

Looking at the wiki of the company, the other one was Midnight Rescue!.

Got beaten to the punch on the TLC games. Instead of repeating what I said before, I will lazily link to a post I said elsewhere (scroll down a bit). BTW, check out Operation Neptune if you haven't.

I know TheVoid already shot it down, but Three Dirty Dwarves is a beat em up, and it's also pretty crappy. Tongue

Edit: Kabuto, maybe it's one of these, take a look. There's also a neogaf link of c64 platformers (no screenshots though), but it goes against my morals to link anyone to that site, lol. Oh, also try this, much better link anyway. Those links have screenshots, which will help you out, but the details you gave aren't very unique.

Thanks, I've finally found it in the second list at position 300 or so. It's called Rastan and funnily one comment there complains about the jump physics I've described and in general the game being full of bugs.
destroy them with lazers
I once played this game were I think the main character was called Mario. You hand to run through some sort of Land and get to the end while avoided mushrooms and turtles. I think the guy was Super or something. Any ideas?

He might have had a beard.

X: Cute.

Kabuto: That's good to hear. I love arcade Rastan like nobody's business, but I don't know the c64 version so like most old arcade ports, it was probably a lot worse than the original. If you had described in more detail, I could have just told you what the game was outright. Tongue
Back in the game!

I think the game you are talking about is called The Legend of Sonic
@_@
The first game I remember ever playing was on the NES when I was really young, you were a fire truck and you had to go around this maze and put out all of the burning buildings and save the people in them within the time limit and then get to the maze exit. Really simple, but I had nonstop fun with it when I was a kid. I barely remember it though.
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Some Atari 2600 sidescroller game with an orange chopper that belonged to my grandfather (ne1 knows the game's name?). He most likely had other games, I recall pitfall which my brother and me couldn't understand how to play and kept dying, and then pac man of course.

Hi, I'm Enhasa and I copied the last two posts from the "first game you ever played" thread (those were the only two that fit here).

NoiseCrash's is Fisher-Price: Firehouse Rescue and gia's is Chopper Command.

Well it's not a contest. Shocked

PS the best part of this thread is how Sum2k3 asked about Battle City, and then like on the next page, DAVIS asked about the same game yet again! That would be pretty funny if both instances were listed in the first post.
Waiting hurts my soul...
Battle City has touched many lives.  Grin
Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones
there was a game I used to play alot back in my younger days and it is for the sega genesis and you played as...i think some kind of rodent and you had a jetpack and maybe a sword and there was a stage you fought a boss with huge robots... thats about as much as I can remember...

Rocket Knight Adventures

If that's not it, there's a sequel called Sparkster. (SNES and Genesis Sparkster are totally different games btw.)
