Cliff notes at bottom for tl;dr

Wow glad I found this thread. I have been trying to figure out the name of this game for several years and have had zero luck. I swear to god I would know the name the second I saw it but have yet to see it after perusing extremely long lists of old games. I played this game on the PC and it is possible that it was available for NES as well (but I might be making this up in my mind). The game was released some time between 1988-1992 I believe possibly near the time King's Quest 5 and Police Quest (3?) came out because I played both of those a lot along with the mystery game and might even be confusing parts of all three games together.

OK on to the actual game. The majority of it is first person POV and you operate by clicking on objects, doors, items, or people (much like in Kings Quest/Police Quest). You begin in a room/apartment (presumably yours) and have to find a few items by clicking around the room. Once you leave you are in a city and it is night time you go around to talk to people and will have to choose what you say to them (a, b, or c type of thing). If you do not choose the correct thing to say the conversation ends, but if you keep saying the right thing you get more and more info. The game continues in this fashion until you meet the objectives and finally advance to the enemies fort/base/building and then the only portion of the game that is sidescrolling/platforming-ish and takes some dexterity to complete begins. I remember it being hard and like wtf because all of a sudden you had to completely switch controls at a critical point in the game. You have a gun of some type at this point and have to shoot enemies as you work your way to the end boss who I think was some type of alien but nothing too crazy (think: the last Dr. Wily in Mega Man 2).

Cliff notes: PC game from late 80's early 90's that is 1st person POV, but later switches to sidescrolling action at the very end of the game where u have a shooting weapon to dispatch the bad guys. Set in a city at night.

Hi! I'm andrewg!
There's a game I should know, but I can't seem to remember.

Basically it was on PC and you run over people for points (The faster the person the more points)... I don't think that was the only objective. I think It was a real popular game in around 1997 or so. Anyway, the game was just kinda goofy and I remember liking it quite a bit for some reason.

Anyone know what game that is?

welcome to the machine
So there was this genesis platformer.

It starred what I thought was a troll back when I was little but, remembering it now, I think it was more along the lines of a monkey?  Anyways, it could fire a spread gun from its mouth.  I don't remember much else... the first stage was some sort of forest stage, and at some point (I think stage 5) you went inside a cave.  The boss of the cave stage was this undulating eye-ribbon thing, and after that there was an ice stage.

This is probably too vague, but whatever, I'll throw it out there.

[edit] yeah, it's Toki.

Hey now, don't leave out the subtitle. It's Toki: Going Ape Spit, hohoho

I already answered Vorpaledge's game on IRC, pretty sure it's Toki.

I'll toss a guess out...

Kingsley's Adventure - Has a training level at the beginning, has a sword, but you'd probably remember if the hero was a fox...

another to look at might be Excalibur 2555 A.D., but I haven't played either one, so I can't really say for certain.

Kingsley's Adventure it is ! thanks a lot !!! now that can finally stop bugging me Grin
Alright, I remember playing this game on emulator a while back. I think it was for the SNES, and you controlled this Kindergarten girl that had magic I think. You started out in a library, and then traveled to someone's house before going to a forest. The game was crazy hard, and the first enemy could annihilate you. Also, it was definitely a Japanese game. That's all I can seem to remember.

lol, yeah pretty sure that's it. Especially since it says it was released in 1997. Fun game, probably not fun anymore now.

Madou Monogatari: Hanamaru Dai Youchienji. You're welcome.

Arle is more famous now because of Puyo Puyo.
Run, you pigeons. It's Robert Frost!
Okay, the game I'm thinking of was an old PC Math game, probably for DOS or Windows 3.1.  You played a sleuth type guy with a really low pulled hat, so his face was all in shadow.  You walked around multiple levels of a castle(?), and if you ran into a certain robot you had to zap it and answer math questions.  That's all I can really remember about it, I think maybe the main villain was a little extravagant.

Sounds like OutNumbered.  It's the math counterpart to Midnight Rescue which has also been brought up (bottom of P6 by Siyko, answered on P7).  BTW, it's a TV station (two floors), not a castle.  Music on the first floor I believe was a Mozart piece (playable on most cellphones as a ringtone).

Almost positive it's Rise of the Dragon (1990) by Dynamix.

I don't remember an alien, I think it was a chinese dragon.  In that platforming part, it was real easy to die and pretty awkward.  I remember time being a main concern in that game though.  Also, wrong choices would make the game unwinnable.  Still was a pretty cool cyberpunkish game though.
SNES game, based in the future kinda I think. It was a side-scroller. Can't really remember much about the single player.

In versus mode there was one character who was a doctor. He really sucked, all he could do was jump around and throw little vials that did barely any damage. However, once he was knocked to ~70%? life, he would turn into a bug thing that was pretty powerful. Also, all his health would be restored to full. The bug thing could also climb on the ceiling.

Sorry I can't remember more.

Is it X-Calber 2097? http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/snes/home/588873.html  It sounds similar.

I was thinking about Kula World, until you brought up the kid. That's not it right?
Never give up!
Okay, here's one.

A top-down space shooter for the PC, that unfortunately I don't even remember much about.  What little I do know is that the main thing you had to collect before you could exit a level was a certain amount of what the game says is "EZT" and I do remember the last word of that acronym being something like "trizystalene" or however it's spelled.

The only things I remember about gameplay are that the play area was much larger than what was actually displayed on screen (and I think a given map even loops all the way around) and that when I last played it, I think it was playable almost entirely with the mouse.

Lastly, I do remember one quote describing the aforementioned EZT in-game, spoken by the pilot of the ship you play as (who I think is some sort of prisoner being forced to collect this stuff, although I'm not entirely sure): "The best non-renewable fuel in the universe.  The only cost: a few retired military craft and, possibly, your life."

Sadly, it's been so long since I've played it that I've just given absolutely everything I remember.
Rude and not ginger :(!
Awesome~ I'm so glad this thread exists. Hope you guys can help!

Okay, so this was... so long ago <_<!

So, this game probably came out in the late 80s or early 90s but probably the former. It was for a console that I don't really remember. I remember it was red. Anyway, I'm guessing it was an Atari because I could also play Kung Fu Master on it.

It's a vertical scrolling jet shooter game. Something I can clearly remember is that one of the jets could have about 4 orb thingies (bombs because they exploded on contact when an enemy hit it) encircling it.

Can't say much more than that. It's been 16 years since I've even remotely remembered playing that game...

Thanks a bunch guys Smiley
difficult and stupidly random

No, it's none of those. I remember one of the backgrounds were just red tiles.

Thanks though :3!
Two games on the mega drive, the first was a boxing game, which you fight from left to right like evader holyfields one. Plus it had an opponent who wears a mask, which might have been the final boss.

The second one was a driving game, first person view but it wasn’t a racer. You had to make decisions from either going left or right when certain things happened i.e. First level has a truck coming at you, if you go left you spin and crash, if you go right you dodge and carry on through the level. I think the whole game did consist on making these decisions.
