“The Lag is Only Temporary...” *crashes*
Hey everybody I want to put for some ideas on doing a speed run for the newly released Tenchu. The game present a really small hint of variety but still pocesses some really fun and interesting qualities.

First off I need to find a stable requirement for the run.
There are three difficulty settings.

The mission require you to either kill someone or everyone on the map, find bombs, follow someone or reach a certain point. These are pretty simple when playing casually but present some serious choke points espcially with the kill all enemies missions because random enemy movement because they heard your footsteps can lead to an immediate failure.

Here are three supposed ways to do this.

New Game Method

- Fresh game Without Improvement Skills/Attacks
- Difficulty HARD
- No Detections (meaning no Orange Flame Icon)
- Neglect Grade System
- Complete only the Objective

New Game+ Method (not technically a new game just replaying the missions from save)

- Difficulty HARD
- No Detections
- Neglect Grade System
- All Skills at your Disposal
- Comeplete only the Objective

Ninja 5 Method

- Difficulty HARD
- No Detections
- Finish Mission with Ninja 5 Grade
- Can either be done in New Game or New Game+
- Complete objective and kills to score Ninja 5 grade

These are the three I propose for now if you have something to add please feel free to comment on which ever looks like the best for a speedrun. I'd like to get started soober than later s please if you have the time I'd really appriciate it.

Thank You!

“The Lag is Only Temporary...” *crashes*
Going with the New Game Method (see above) I've run the first 10 levels to get the feeling for it and its pretty challenging when trying for the fastest but yet safe routes.

Detection = Failure; so you can imagine how complicated this can get. It gets to the point that if I miss a certain jump I'll just be in range for them to see me not to mention hear me.

So here's the rundown for the first 10 missions. (All times include loading/saving times)

Mission 1: 00.46.2 (Possible 2 sec shave off)
Mission 2: 00.31.6 (I get detected if I try for lower but still possible)
Mission 3: 01.32.7 (personal best there are 7 different spawns for the bombs making memorization difficult.)
Mission 4: 00.29.4 (could shave off more time by taking a riskier route)
Mission 5: 01:26.9 (This could definetly be done faster but getting through the first cave undetected requires you to kill at least 2 people.)
Mission 6: 00.17.2 (this mission is tremendously easy I have a hard time topping this time. Could shave 3 seconds...maybe...)
Mission 7: 01:02.4 (This requires precision grappling. Mess up and it takes and extra 40 seconds. Could be better though.)
Mission 8: 00.59.2 (Straight forward run but with lots of guys in closer quarters, it gets tricky)
Mission 9: 00.42.9 (This gets annoying with missed jumps but this is the fastest time I've gotten so far.)
Mission 10: 02.06.8 (I have no idea why this takes me so long. I just have to kill 4 people to be/feel safe.)

Total Time (so far): 09:55.8

If I can keep under a minute per mission I could possibly make the run under an hour which is definetly possible. My goal is that the run be under 45 minutes because it is definetly possible.

Wish luck and please if you have anything to add or help with let me know cause the more brains and tips I get could make this thing go a lot smoother!

Thanks,
OoCanada

I decided to play through the game in a single segmented run and fininished it in about a hour and a half. If we were to make it a segment run your could drastically change the time because you can work on key choke points such as Mission 20, 42, 48. They require the most time.

So for now I'm going to be splitting the run into 7 parts I'll post them in the neer future on YouTube so you can get a feel on how the game plays and give me some suggestions.

ust making a quick update I'll post mission 11 to 34 best times tomorrow. I still hav to work on some of them to make sure they run smooth.

Thanks!

Alright, obviously nobody is here anymore, but I'll just post this here regardless in the slightest chance that somebody will look at it.

I will be starting to run this game with the New Game Method. No skills, no detections, HARD, only objectives. I will be streaming things soon at www.twitch/tv/eiiitti
