I am attempting a single segment run for Resident Evil 4, and unless I'm extremely lucky, I plan on it being just over 2 hours. The thing is, that with the best tape quality the tape will only go for 2 hours. Then it would stop and the end would be left off.

The solutions that I can see are:

A) Recording on SLP instead of SP.

B) Pausing when the tape runs out (timer doesn't run during the pause screen) and switching tapes.

The problems are the reduced quality of SLP and the fact that my time is questionable if the run is fractured (I would never do that, but I don't want that to be an issue).

What should I do, considering the fact that I don't have a capture card?

You can also get a 2:40 long tape... should be just as good as a 2h tape, but I think the 3 hour+ tapes are thinner and more fragile. If not, it'd be best to switch tapes at the disk change, the game stops time then too doesn't it?

The disc change is a good idea, because I have to stop anyway. That's what I'll do. As long as that doesn't break the "single segment" nature of it.

What I'll do is tape myself saving at the end of the segment and it will show only one save. That will take any questionability out of the disc change.
I recorded it on two tapes, switching at the disc change. At the end of the 2nd tape, you can see me save with only 1 save, to show that I didn't treat the 2nd disc as a new segment. The time was 2:07:58.
