Does SDA accept runs made on consoles modded with Swap Magic?

I've only just started looking into it so i don't know if Swap Magic would alter the game beyond making it playable on a console of a different region.

Having said that, does anyone know if playing an NTSC/-j game on a PAL console using Swap Magic will run at 60hz? Tongue
Thread title:
Fucking Weeaboo
For getting around region locks, Swap Magic is perfectly acceptable.
Faster than the speed of love
I think for older consoles, the speed (Hz) depends on the power you use*, and for newer consoles it doesn't matter, but I reserve the right to be wrong.
* alternating current comes in waves; in some countries-- mostly PAL countries-- you get 50 waves per second, for 50 Hz, in others it's 60 Hz
Caution: This user contains Kana ^_^
Japan uses 50 and 60 Hz in approx half the country each, so imho it'ld be weird for Japanese consoles to follow this rule.

By saying "it'ld be weird for Japanese consoles to follow this rule" do you mean it will be harder for me to distinguish whether it will run at 50/60hz on my console or it should work with both?

Having asked around for a week people are generally saying the game will run at 60hz on my PAL console, so that's good. The less good thing is that they've ALL been for different reasons xD I've had answers such as "The frame rate is determined by the software and not the hardware so it will work", General Vagueness is saying about the power (I assume that's the power supply which I think will remain the same if I use a converter) and lastly I've heard that Swap Magic will force the frame rate.
I suppose it would be nice to have a solid answer from somewhere but I'll take what I can get Tongue

Are there any additional features to Swap Magic that will make a run kinda sketchy for SDA?

Thanks for the help guys.
I AM FUCKED ANGRY
Can you say me for what exact you will use 'swap magic' on which console exactly ?

50/60hz is not important 'swap magic' can handle this, but you need some extra ways to use it on a pal console, or you will have the wrong result of frame rate and video size.

I'll be running Swap Magic on a PAL PS2 to run an NTSC-J PS2 game.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
I used a swap magic to play my Japanese copy of Metal Slug 3 and get the run that's currently on the site. In other words, yes, swap magic is allowed.

You had buy swap magic ? or you will it order in the future ?

Ok, When you have a big PS2, than DO NOT USE swap magic, because you must rip of (when I say rip of than I mean that so) rip of your Rom-Drive manual ! There are two ways, but you will ruin your big PS2.

When you have a PS2 slim, than is this very good. swap magic do unlock the copy protection, so you can run all on your PS2. But swap magic has also a PAL/NTSC selector, so older version of swap magic has some problems. I have swap magiv 3.6 version and it runs all good. When you run NTSC games on a PAL PS2 console, you do not use the selector from the swap magic or your video is wrong in video size and frame rate. It is important that your TV can handle NTSC than is all cool. All PS2 PAL consoles has a NTSC bios, with the swap magic you can unlock this.

Some of the Manhunt 2 IL PS2 runs on sda was use of swap magic, because of running the usa NTSC version on a PAL console.

The second problem is running 700MB cdrom PS2 games. You know there gives in PAL this blue PS2 games ? This is 700MB cdrom, not all PS2 version can handle this games with swap magic. So when you buy swap magic you have 2 disc's, one for DVD games and one for CdRom games. My big PS2 can handle CDrom swap magic, but my slim PS2 can not handle CDrom sm,

For PS2 big system you need a slide card to break your Rom Drive ->

Rule ->
Use swap magic, but do not use the PAL/NTSC selector in the swap magic system. Than is all cool

When you need more informations I can make pictures for you from my version.
All the things
The alternative to using the slide card in a phat model is to just get a new fliptop shell. These are usually pretty cheap and are very convenient if you plan to be playing many imports.

I tore off my rom drive cover about 8 years ago and my fat PS2 is still working fine. I could use a fliptop, but swap magic is working for me just fine.

I had forget, for PAL PS2 consoles you need also a swap magic PAL set ! When you order the ntsc version of swap magic, this will not work on PAL consoles.

fliptop - Toploader, hahaha my friend has this, it looks so ugly.
For me swap magic works also very good. Smiley

btw, God of War 1 + 2 NTSC original DVD's do not work with swap magic on PAL console. Sad
Scarface do also not work with swap magic, you must boot second a gameshark and than it will work.

OK that's all awesome information, I'm using a slim PS2 so that's good news! I haven't bought Swap Magic yet but I've bookmarked some links to go back to when I work out what on earth it actually does (aka will be buying very soon).
This is what I've looked at so far:
http://hyperkin.com/ps-ps2/ps2-swap-magic-flip-top-cover-slim-version-html.html - Flip top cover
http://www.discoazul.co.uk/swap-magic-coder-3-8.html - Swap Magic 3.8
http://www.ps2cover.com/products/Swap-Magic-3.6.html - Swamp Magic 3.6

I don't exactly know what the difference is between 3.6 and 3.8 but the latter is cheaper so I'll likely go with that.

Also about the CDrom vs DVD stuff, I understand what you're saying but I don't know where I'm going to find out whether my game (FFX International) is CDrom or DVD. Here's the link to what I'll be getting:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00005UOI7/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&seller=
I all likeliness it's DVD because my current FFX PAL is so I'm not too worried.

All what I know that is, swap magic was produced for pirated products. So it is illegal in my country to sell this product for 6 years ago. I have a original print version. I do not know of fakes.

You must find and trust a seller. But you come from UK, you must find a copy in PAL.

this looks not bad from you ->
http://www.discoazul.co.uk/swap-magic-coder-3-8.html

EDIT: when you have a slim, you must also search for MagicKeys or something other (slimtools)

EDIT 2: version  3.6 and 3.8 -> you must search in googl-e for compatible list, not all games work on each version. example for 700mb cdrom

EDIT 3:

your game is DVD

Derp, I was looking so damn hard for something saying 700mb that I totally missed those big logos Tongue
Anyway, thanks again for the help, I've found what I need and should be ready to go early December.
Lord Of The Beards
you could also use a gameshark 2 without cheats on not quite sure if SDA would allow that though since its a cheating device (Not gonna lie i want to know this so i can submit runs of imports)
If it were MY decision I'd say it should be fine since all you're doing is bypassing country protection. Shouldn't matter that it's a cheat device so long as no actual cheats are on.

I use free mcboot on a memorycard for back ups and homebrew. Problem is that it doesnt handle cd based games.

Regarding 50/60hz a Pal ps2 handles ntsc 60hz fine. Pal games that has 60hz option run in ntsc 60 unlike pal xbox 1 and gamecube games that runs in pal60.
