My feelings on The Demon Rush
Well, it turns out there's actually a big surplus fund from all of the payments I received. So big that it shocked me.
The total amount:
Let me explain why it is so high:
Part of it is 173 dollars leftover from Radix's money. I used his money to cover two people and offset the slightly higher price than I originally expected. No, I'm not telling you which two people.
Another part is that 3 people extended their stay at the center, which is around $140.
KirkQ saw there was a 4-day spot open, so he put in $153 to sneak into the marathon.
The rest is all of those paypal fees that I thought I would get, but didn't get because people gifted their money, or they ate the fee themselves. This ranged anywhere from 4.50 (4-day people) to 20 (essentia and denton) dollars Also, a lot of people paid extra because they're cool, and Poxnor threw in $20 because he's a nice guy. I was expecting maybe 200-300 extra from this, not this much.
BTW, if you really want me to give you a refund, most of you would get less than 10 dollars back, and a couple of you would get 20-30 dollars back. You would also be a heartless person who hates charities, loves cancer, and kicks puppies for fun. On a serious note, if you want to see the spreadsheet I used to tally payments, then be my guest.
Here's what I'm planning on using the money for so far:
Shipping - $80
I already have 80 dollars earmarked for this. Shipping 50 pictures for last year's marathon cost a surprising amount of money, especially international shipping.
BTW, this is probably too small if I get stuff like the Wii for prizes.
Equipment - $200ish
I think the only equipment I really need is a mic and a better webcam.
The Blue Yeti mic Poxnor mentioned looks really good and has really good reviews. It's normally 150 dollars, but only 100 dollars on amazon.com.
I think there's a way to make my webcam look better (it's a Logitech webcam pro 9000), but we'll need another webcam for stuff like the groove cam, and I'd like the quality to be as good as possible. A lot of fighting game streams have really nice video quality. I asked spooky and he said he uses Microsoft Lifecams, and the level up crew uses Logitech cameras. I'm thinking of possibly getting the Logitech HD C510 or 910, but I'm open to suggestions because I'm not a big video guy.
Prizes - $800ish
Okay, since this fund is big, this means we can get a lot of prizes, and some really good ones, but I'm not that great at coming up with ideas so I'll let other people come up with some ideas.
-More perler art from Aitamen, but what?
-25th Anniversary red Wii (Breakdown's idea) - 200 dollars if I buy this.
If anyone has any suggestions or objections then speak up ASAP.
P.S. Pootrain, this means you don't owe me a sandwich, but if you'd like to buy me one, I certainly wouldn't turn down the offer.
The total amount:
$1,180
