Super Smash Bros. Melee, Event Mode speedrun?

I know that unlocking every character in Melee is just a chore, but what about doing all 51 event matches? I'm surprised no one has tried (at least to my knowledge) to try this out. I'll be checking this out and testing stuff soon because I feel it's definitely worth a shot

This would be interesting to see. I wonder how consistent some of the fast strategies are, like getting the giant Yoshi to suicide.

Some people have done races on SRL for this, although idk if it's been more casual or serious than anything else. Good luck filtering through the goals to find something (not everything is consistently named because of how varied this game can be), but here's the fastest time found in one particular category with that naming (http://deanyd.net/statsy/603690812_leaderboard_ssbm_All_51_Event_Matches.htm).

The matches that are mostly regular fighting (All-Star matches, E51, etc.) would be all about execution. All of the ones where you would normally reset for RNG (Pikachu battle, giant Yoshi, Hide & Sheik, etc.) would likely be best played out normally with improv strats, because the time it takes to reset would be longer than just fighting it out (especially since most of these matches are only a few seconds long). You probably can't expect to do WR strats for most events, unless you are already consistent at them and they don't involve much/any RNG.

It might be fun to give it a try (and I'd watch a stream as long as the person had a decent grasp on what they were doing) but you should expect wildly different results every time you attempt a run.
