I could my RGB port doesn't seem to be working so for the time being i'm using the cable from my N64  and playing through the aerial.

I think an ss run of this game could probably beat the segmented run quite comfortably if done well.

There are a lot of tricks that Dragorn doesn't use and just from playing around i beat his Bianco Hills time by a  minute or so (whether i could keep this up for a whole run is a different story).

Mainly, for the hillside cave secret shine he takes a very long route when it is very easy to wall jump and hover up to the cave.

yeah, the fastest way is to simply dive over the water at the beginning and through the tree area, over the logs and wall kick up (like tip 2 in your next post)

And don't forget the trick in Ricco Harbor, to get the shine in the cage without the rocket nozzle.

got it Smiley

1) I always dive jumped and slid down the path at the start before flipping onto the cable then sprung upwards before hovering onto the wall. If done well you can just dive forward and you'll be right at the cable to get onto the bridge. You can wall jump and hover up the windmill and should be able to catch the propellor as it comes around.

yeah the other run does this iirc

It is also imperative that you clean up the Piranha Plant first to get rid of those things. Mainly this will give you the freedom to deal with the plant as quickly as possible.

you mean around Petey in the windmill or around the village before he comes down? I do both actually

The secret levels are going to cause massive problems in a single-segment run.

nah, not really. I'm actually pretty good at most of them now :x Still keeping this a no-death run in all ways possible. The only hard courses due to deaths are noki bay and ricco harbor. The ricco harbor one especially is a pain in the ass. The rest are easy Smiley
I mean in the windmill. I wouldn't in the village because 1) first priority is to wake him up and 2) then kick his ass.

The only area i'd recommend cleaning up is if he falls behind the bulidings where you get the last red coin.

I was snooping around in the rico harbour secret and found a couple of things worth pointing out.

1) The blocks don't seem to be proggrammed very well. Hitting them from certian angles can make you drop straight through them.

2) In the seg. run Dragorn jumps from the first knut to the third. You'd be brave to try this in a single seg.
hi
yeah I don't think I'm doing that jump <_<

you actually have at least 15 seconds though, between hitting Petey and when he comes within hit range, so clearing the area a little bit is good
It depends where you are going to hit him from.

If you are going to copy the current run then you'll be on the wall, otherwise you're on the ground and a clean up is possible.

For the moment, i'm going to play some more on Rico Harbour and see what else i can dig up.
He's back!
I have to admit now I've watched bits of the old run, how come Dragorn never belly slides, it probally would have saved about 3-5 mins over the entire course of the game. Its also much faster than LJing in SM64. I'm looking forward to any improvements and hopefully some shortcuts and glitches, since I would guess that there was no real attempt to look for glitches and shortcuts before Dragorn started his run.
I'd watch the current run to get ideas of the shortcuts.
There's another, quite obvious, mistake in the current run.

When fighting King Calmari in Ricco Harbour, Dragorn pulls out its mouth to its full extent before letting go. In fact, all you need to wait for is his eyes to turn purple before letting go to do exactly the same damage.
hi
yeah, I know that too. he starts doing it that way later on in the run iirc <_< (he also wet slides more later on too)

gooper blooper is weird though, sometimes he decides to attack sooner and then you're screwed.
forum lurker
I wish I could help out but my SMS disc doesn't work. Sad

He's back!
I wonder if its possible to enter Corona Mountain Early somehow, that would destroy the whole point of the game  Tongue

I would look for it if I still had the original game, but I didn't like the game enough to look for cool stuff. although its probally unlikely since 3D mario games tend to have gigantic invisible walls and ceiling boundaries as well, so the rocket fludd might not help to greatly, the most likely way is probally by falling below the Delfino and swimming up underneath Corona mountain entrance.

In addition to that...
All you have to do is get close to him... Then when he attacks you jump in the air and do a ground jump. You don't have to pull any of the tenticals.

No loading zone...btw I definitely have plans to run this game one day.
hey hey hey!!

Look at the topic title.
hey hey hey!!
its been like that for a while
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
No need to worry about this too much.  If Bulblax doesn't do it, I'm sure sooner or later someone else will.

The Single Segment will probably be completed first, since that route is easier than a 100% Segmented Route.

I don't really care anymore either way as long as it gets done at some point.

I feel like doing the 100% run.
I have a good route planned out, only no way to record it  Sad
I just wanted to do it for fun at first.
If I ever do this run, I will probably choose the DVD recorder (I might have one already).
As a side note, it will have to be on the PAL version, so the recorded segments of Bulblax wont go to waste (if his version isnt the PAL version too)

hi
oh wow guys i haven't been to this forum in over 6 months :p

oh yeah this run. Cheesy

hey I promised I wouldn't forget it didn't I?

likely I will have free time april break and summer, so perhaps I will work on this again...

well i definitely have the strategy down, execution I can work on, but the technology i'm still quite lost with.

first off I don't have the pal version or whatever the guy above was talking about, and I never did anything with the recorded segments, and third if I started working on this again I would start over because they sucked.

and I dont have dvd recorder, i could probably borrow one from somebody, but I dont understand them tbh. can you just record it on a cd or do you need like special dvd disks?

also I have no idea remotely what a capture card is so i wont even go there.

if someone else wants to work on this though go right ahead :p i have plenty of strategy tips or perhaps you have some i dont.

also about the pal thing i dont know what youre talking about, why would you need to finish it on pal if I dont have pal, and at the end you say if he doesnt have pal? o _ O
You need Blank DVD R's to record to Discs.
You also have 7 ish months to just to get hold of and use use a simple VCR.
The original leever.

I think you'd want to use the underwater-Yoshi glitch for that.

does that count as out of bounds?
