SMG2 - Think Before You Shake - No Shaking (41.88)

I think without shaking is faster than with shaking (if you don't count the speedtrick that you spin and long jump just as the platform is up to the other color that allows you to get sub-30). I shall get sub-40 if I use Luigi, I was so dumb that I used Mario.

There´s pretty epic rock Mario trick, found by me :

I don´t know is it useful, but at least you can get GS3 of this level without breaking rock, but you need only two jumps to do this. Got 22.85 on this GS3, but failed star, so don´t want upload video, sub 22 possible, I´m pretty sure Wink

Does this glitch have a spin limit? If it doesn't have a limit, this could definitely be used for shortcuts. If not, I doubt it. I'm too lazy to test this myself right now, I'll get back into this game at winter break.

I don´t actually know. I think you can do this more than in this video, maybe infite jump is possible with right timing, it just feel bit manipulating =/ If someone find perfect timing, maybe we can see impressive shortcuts Wink

Just got back into smg2 about a week ago, and i've realised that if I continue to complete the 242 stars again, I won't have any incentive strong enough to make me continue playing for solely speedrunning, so I've done a few.

My only speedrun worthy of mention so far is Squizzard's Sandy Sinkhole in 2:58.46, Davincentcode said this was hard to speedrun because of the sand, and I only partly agree with him - although this didn't take too long to get.
From now I'll start videoing my runs until I get one that is an improvement, because I can't keep playing like you guys with the capture card continually recording so I can be totally sure of capturing a perfect run unfortunately.

I think I'll speedrun perhaps only a few planets, like Slipsand, Boo Moon (although I hate it im not too bad at it), and Honeybloom, until those planets are completed on the star times page (even if my videos won't be SDA ready)

During Luma transforms, you can wait at the location to be of the launch star to save a bit of time compared to what you're already doing. Really nice bounce off the drill, just wish it hit the square on top. Even though getting hit didn't cost any time, it still looks a bit sloppy.
Overall, nice run.

Nice job on boss that he did two times four jumps, in my record (2.17.xx) he did two times six jumps, very annoying Sad

Btw, about this rock Mario trick, I found two small time savers where you need that. At the beginning of Boulder Bowl Galaxy, you can skip this bridge, I think you save about 1-2 sec, so example GS3 can be maybe sub 20 seconds. It is pretty annoying but managed do it perfectly few times. Another is in star Rock and Rollodillo of Boulder Bowl Galaxy, at the end of level there is big purple crystal that include sling star, you don´t need break that crystal, you can jump straigh to upper planet, which save some seconds. Nothing huge time savers, but better than nothing Wink

I have no name: I thought I was getting the launch stars at an optimal time, since it takes a bit for the launch star to be accessible after the luma transforms, but oh well.
Emperor91: In order to make Digga-Leg do the minimal amount of attacks, all you need to do is what I did in the video, works every time. And about the rock mario trick, is it true you don't need a checkpoint? Do you just jump shake jump jump jump? If I can get that to be reliable, I could use it in my 71 star run.

Great Twin Falls run too, can´t be much better.

Yeah, in Rock Mario trick you don´t need checkpoint, just jump and tap A button as fast as you can, should work everywhere. It´s still bit manipulating when trying high jumps, personal best is about 10 jumps, I don´t think infite jump is possible Sad

Great to know that Digga-Leg is not just luck, must try that Smiley

Edit : I don´t really success do that Digga-Leg strat. Must you be in right place or what?
