SMG2 - Throwback GS2 - 17.90 (WR)

This was a practice run. I don't know a way to improve this, but it wasn't easy.

SMG2 - The Chimp's Coin Challenge - 3:23.15

Only mistake is near the beginning while skipping the text, I let go of A and pressed it again too early to go to the next junk of text, which wasted time because it slowed the text down. I'll get this vid up soon. This can be improved by .9 of a second, since klar has 3:23.06.

I put up the rest of the world maps (4,5,6, and S) on the wiki. Sorry for delaying them for so long! I've been fairly busy. Anyway, hope they might be of use.

marsonioic, good luck with the run! As others have hinted at though, take as much time as you need to produce a good run - unless it's a test run of sorts that you're going to use to get feedback.

Hello there.

For fun, I deleted my 100% Completed file on SMG2, so I can have fun starting over.

So I won't be doing speedruns very often, until I complete this file over again, then I'll do speedruns very often.

Would you do the Green Stars of Slimy Spring, clamshot? If so, IDK if it's possible to not hit the launch star above the second one. It might be, though.

I said earlier I deleted my file so I can have fun starting over. Yet I haven't unlocked the green stars again, I only have 101 or 102.

Just thought I'd give you guys an update:
I"ve been attempting the run most of the day. The farthest I got was hightail falls (very sad). However, the run gets easier and easier later in the game.
Some humorous mess ups include:
Making it all the way to the top of the tower on Every planet has its price then accidently stomping all the way back down,
Trying the hightail falls ending "cannon" shortcut and doing it way to early, causing mario to get beneath the floor and die.
Soooooooo many chomp mishaps in sky station 2.
I am confident I will be able to get further this afternoon, if not I have 2 and a half more days of opportunity.
I estimate my final time will be in the 3:50 range.

I found my SMG1 game, and I'm so suprised that I won't be playing SMG2 recently and practice SMG1 level speedruns.

I'll be doing more SMG2 runs recently by December.

Hi, I'm new to SDA forums, and found this thread yesterday, and decided to have a go speedrunning Honeybloom galaxy, and after about an hour I got 1:54.7x, is this a good time? I can easily improve by a lot, getting a perfect run with bee luigi is very hard, because of perfect cloud landings, with other things had to perfect like the swallowing flowers, which can pop you up slightly if you jump through the side of them.
Can I also ask if a video taken of a speedrun using a digital camera would be accepted by SDA if it is of high enough quality? - I don't have any video capturing device, and I don't want to buy one either.

Console runs have to be recorded with either a DVD player (on SP or XP speed) or a digital capture card.

edit: I decided to do one speedrun, then get to freeruns.

I managed to beat my 1:46.xx time on Tall Trunk 1 and got 1:45.91. Yet no one has beaten my time. Hope klar doesn't beat it.

Unfortunately I have a DVD player and not a recorder (I assume you meant dvd recorder as I've been exploring the internet and it seems only a dvd recorder can record the wii). I also don't want to buy a digital capture card, so I think I'll just record my few speedruns with my camera and upload to youtube and hopefully get them put on the star list as not sda ready.

Also, is there a difference between whole speedruns of games and a short speedrun of a small section of a game (e.g. each star in smg2)?
As in the requirements for it to be 'sda ready' as on the smg2 star list page?
And what exactly does sda ready mean btw, ready for what? General viewing, or compilation into one big 'speedrun' or video?

"SDA Ready" on the star times page just means that the video quality is fine. There might be some "SDA Ready" runs there that would be rejected if they were submitted.

Ah, thats what I was asking for last time, I play mkwii and have recorded some stuff before using my digital camera, which produces some good quality videos;

Would you say a video of this quality would be okay?

Sure. That might be SDA Ready.
