Quote from Greenalink:
It's useful but you got to be careful (or at least remember) that some of the Green stars are only located on the other mission of the galaxy like Melty Monster Galaxy.

Correcto. Flip-Out Galaxy has Green Star 1 you fly to Wicked Wall Jumps, and Green Star 2 you fly to Cosmic Clone Wall Jumpers. It's in other galaxies, just like Sky Station has. Green Star 1&2 in Sky Station inside Peewee Piranha's Temper Tantrum, and Green Star 3 in Storming the Sky Fleet.

And I finally beat the game 100&. I finished it in 78:18:49. I'll post my death count later.

2:23.30 - The Deep Shell Well (Slimy Spring Galaxy)

I'm going to do a speedrun of Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos in Mario Squared Galaxy. It's sort of hard, but not that hard. Not as hard as speedrunning Luigi's Purple Coins from Toy Time Galaxy in the first game. I'll do as good as possible.
I'm working on a 100% Speedrun on this game. The fastest I got so far was 78:18:49, really slow, not ment to be a speedrun.

I still have 20+ videos on my desktop that I've had for weeks that need to be uploaded, but here are a few of them.

Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet - Gravity Star Speed Run - 1.12.38

Flipsville Galaxy - Green Star 1 - 6.56

Puzzle Plank Galaxy - Green Star 3 - 34.91

Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet - Green Star 1 - 13.15

Flip-Out Galaxy - Green Star 1 - 5.13

Nice videos. Would you mind to try a speed run of the Speed Run Comet on Bowser's Galaxy FGenerator?
Battle Belt - Mini-Planet Mega-Run (2:34.91)

My final 100% completion time (no Co-star, except for The Perfect Run after 1:30 of attempts) was 29:49:xx.

To rrspond to Greenalink, I realize that, the Tall Trunk and Chompworks Galaxies are two more examples of your point.
I haven't tried the Galaxy Generator Speed Run yet, but Davincentcode did a great job doing a speed run of that in 2.09.xx.  Here is the video:

GWAHAHAHAHA!
I've seen that video before, and I loved it. Man. He was like, a minute faster than me. I didn't even know you can get two minutes instead of three. But is there a way to improve it by like, when he did his first infinite flutter, he could just pass the castle and keep infinite fluttering all the way to the last planet? Not sure if it is possible, but it may be possible, but might not save time. If possible, and he doesn't slow down at any point of the flutter, then it would save time.

On Cyberscore, I was making a big freak out of myself by pretending I had a really really really really [INSERT 8876656576786564 MORE REALLYS HERE] really slow time on most stars. Don't tell anyone that is on Cyberscore and not on speeddemosarchive.

By the way, the fastest runners on stars/seventy stars+beat the game is:
packattack (STARS)
MyNamesAustin (SEVENTY STARS+BEAT THE GAME)
davincentcode (Not on SDA, vids put on youtube) (STARS)

Oh, and a little kiss to SMG2, can't be doing speedruns now. I can't do speedruns until dad buys some double A batteries, because we have NONE and my wii remote isn't working.

Speaking of Cyberscore, I am impressed by the 12+ hour time for 242 stars by Celsius.

(if I ever finish The Perfect Run my 242 star time will be over 80 hours Roll Eyes )

It was put under investigation because the format was wrong. He/she mistakenly put it as minutes:seconds:hundredths instead of hours:minutes:seconds.

Thanks for clarifying, Klar!  I made the same mistake when I posted my 71-star time Roll Eyes

I'm assuming you're not using the slide shortcut, I have 2:11.xx on that. Press A (or mash it) when falling onto the slide from a long jump so that he jumps off to save about 2-3 seconds (sorry if this was already mentioned).

Quote from HackJack:
Tall Trunk's Big Slide - 1:37.95

Again, I'm assuming you're not shortcutting to the sling star, the vines aren't needed to do so. As soon as the level starts run straight forward to the tree, backflip+wall kick to the branch above you (or backflip+swing+wall kick for more height). Once you're at the branch the sling star should be straight above, and just backflip+wall kick once more to reach it.

I did use the slide shortcut. Before I got a slower time because once I was slower than 2:23.30, I accidentally fell on the slide and couldn't do the shortcut. But still, I got the shortcut.

I did do that. I learned that trick from logitech's video. It included another shortcut at the second planet. Check this video for more information.
Edit: Fixed Quote Tag.

No problem slowbro.

@HackJack, alright then, my bad, I was just making sure.

Does anyone know the current record for those two times? Just curious...

I actually tried this for awhile late last night after watching his video. I have gotten close. After getting on Yoshi, I jump back to where the magikoopa is (at this point he is right by the edge). I do a couple of quick flutters (trying to gain some speed), bounce off him, infinite flutter, and can almost make it to the last planet. It isn't quite enough though.
GWAHAHAHAHA!
I finally got batteries for the wii remote. Now I can keep doing practice runs.

I'm going to practice a fluttering trick with yoshi in Bowser's Big Bad Speed Run, try to pass the castle and get to the last planet. That way I can see if I can beat davincentcode. I'll do it in about two hours.
How exactly would a segmented run of this game be executed?
Because it saves after every star.
Data on an SD card then overwrite if the segment is bad, or new data on the SD card if it's good?

Perhaps if the runner knows that the attempt in question isn't going to be "the one", he/she shuts off the game before exiting the level.
DS Dictator
I'm sure you can copy the SD Card data onto the PC unit so it shouldn't matter too much. I think the Wii loads the save files only from the internal flash memory and not the SD card.
Now a hit show on the CW
Honestly, if there's going to be an IL table for this game, I sort of feel like a segmented run would be pointless. Since the game automatically saves after each level, I assume that each level would be its own segment...redundant, when the IL table is basically the same thing. I think this game is most comparable to Yoshi's Island in that respect.
DS Dictator
The only real differences is that the segmented run will include:

* The introduction level
* Unskippable Galaxy Entrances (when Mario flies to the current Galaxy at the start, you can't skip it).
* Hungry Pink Lumas.
* Combined In-Game Time (Clear the game ASAP/242nd Star collected).

* IIRC, 99.9% of the IL runs will be done by Luigi. The 71 Star run will be using Mario (and Luigi for the remaining 171 stars).
GWAHAHAHAHA!
I'm trying over and over again to see if I can get a faster time on "Silver Stars in the Purple Pond" in Cloudy Court Galaxy, but I can't. I always use a cloud, never go on the cymbols, and long jump over to the pink launch star. Apparently, it can't save time, because I always use the same strategy, even when I don't use it, and when I use it, doing the exact same strategy, it wastes time. Not using the "cloud-to-pink-launch-star-without-touching-cymbols" trick, it goes faster, and looks slower for some reason.

1:18.7 - Silver Stars in the Purple Pond (Cloudy Court Galaxy)
Make Mario a Star: 57.05

No idea if that's a good time for the level because I haven't seen it annhilated yet.

There is another time for it, but I won't link to it now.

I just found out my Cloudy Court Silver Star Level practice run can be improved by one second, because someone else on cyberscore had a record faster than me.

1:17.1 - Silver Stars in the Purple Pond (Cloudy Court Galaxy) (NOT BY ME)
too many gyros
Hey guys, you might have known me as "MyNamesAustin2" For the individual level speedruns, but due to my stupidity, i put a random username, but I have changed it since then because all of my other accounts (Ustream, Youtube) Is this name.

Also, I would like to share that the Japanese runner of the 3:46 71 star single segment has got his time down to 3:35, but he was not recording, atleast I don't think. So, I guess that would be the time to beat, or something close to that for SDA standards.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Spin-Dig Galaxy - Silver Stars Down Deep - 1:44.90
Slimy Spring - The Deep Shell Well (2:09.83)

Thanks to shunkolar and packattack for the quick long jump to ground pound trick.

Have you checked the IL table? neskamikaze has a time of 0:43.93:

http://speeddemosarchive.com/kb/Super_Mario_Galaxy_2/Star_Times

neskamikaze thinks this star can be completed in less than 0:43.
Someone else already beat that time but I don't remember who it was.
