I never knew there was a Yoshi in this stage.  Wow that really sucks.  If I had known that, I wouldn't have bothered with this at all.  Why would they stick yoshi in a standard level like this?

He's in that 2nd crystal you passed just before you landed on the green block at 0:25.

Beat Block - Silver Stars in Double Time - 40.31

edit: There's probably a way to infinite flutter to the first silver star, then immediately backflip off Yoshi to grab the 2nd one. Getting the angle correct and the timing of the blocks would be very frustrating, but it would save a few more seconds.

Great job with the run.  Its hard to believe watching your video that the flutter only saved 3 seconds.  It just feels like more for some reason.  Can this be used then for green star 2 and for the 'step to the beep' (first star) or is that yoshi egg only hidden in 'silver stars in double time'?

Yoshi only appears in "Silver Stars in Double Time" in the Beat Block Galaxy.
I'm planning on doing a speed run of The Chimp's Stomp Challenge" in Fluffy Bluff Galaxy. I could try to get as many points as I can in the level, but never get the 6-life mushroom, because it wastes time. I'm sure that sub 2:20 isn't possible. The fastest I can get is 2:23:XX.
edit: Now my fastest time is 2:22:XX.

Wouldn't the main concerns time-wise be right at the very start and end, such as how quickly you trigger the minigame and claim the star?

I've actually been waiting for some stars like that to be speedrun Smiley  Of course it will be cool if you can rack up a big score too, without doing anything that wastes time, and feel free to throw in some gaudy acrobatics and stuff.

If we ever want a complete IL table, I assume the Stomp Challenges and Score Challenges will have to be speedrun eventually Grin

GWAHAHAHAHA!
I practiced my speed run of The Chimp's Stomp Challenge and found out there isn't a way to skip some of the time. so like having 10000 points
and then skipping having to wait for the time to go down to 0.

I wish I can just get 100000 points and talk to the chimp and get the star much quicker.  Sad

I possibly might actually do a speed run of the score challenge in Honeyhop Galaxy. I think I'll time them and they will be about the same.

@slowbro What do you mean by that?

I'm not sure which part you mean, but I didn't have anything important to say Grin If you make a stomp challenge speed video I'd be interested in seeing it.
I have a time of 2.21.7x on that chimp challenge time.  I only played it a few times to get a submission at Cyberscore several weeks ago but I didn't ever bother recording the run because the level didn't offer much.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Puzzle Plank Galaxy - The Puzzling Picture Block - 1.25.98

Thanks to logitechSDAZ for the ending idea on chompworks green star 2.

edit: That's definitely the swankiest octopus-bashing I've ever seen!  The other bosses look highly optimized too, but the octopus is something special.

(If you decide you want to record videos for SDA's main site you'd need a different recording method, such as a DVD recorder, but a good-quality video camera recording like that is certainly fine for YouTube videos and showing off your routes.)

Haha, yeah, I really like that part too.
Too bad I can't record videos for SDA. Hopefully someone gets a better time on tape.

Upside Dizzy Galaxy - Green Star 1 - 0:13.2

Upside Dizzy Galaxy - Green Star 2 - 0:18.18

I'll upload them later this week.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 - Beat Block Galaxy - Silver Stars in Double Time - 37.48

I had to re-do this stage with Yoshi, after logitechSDAZ informed us that a Yoshi egg was hidden in a crystal.

I'm looking for what you mean by that.
Okay, Here's my list of my speedruns that are in the queue of finishing. Before I record them, I need to find out how to get good quality like everybody else uses. G.O.O.D Quality.
1. The Chimp's Stomp Challenge
2. Bowser's Big Bad Speed Run
3. Gravity Star Speed Run
4. Bowser's Big Lava Power Party
It's possible to save more time on the Bowser's Big Lava Power Party Star by spinning before the gravity changes at the beginning and once the gravity changes, ground pound.
Here is a video from shunkolar/Klar.  He did a pound straight out of a long jump, so this will definitely be useful on at least a few IL star speed runs.  I had done this personally a few weeks ago on Flipsville, but didn't know what caused it.  Klar says that if you pound the same time you shake it will work fairly consistently.

I just meant that in the stomp challenge I don't think there is any way to speed up the timed minigame, so I think the only places to gain or lose time are before and after the minigame.  Sorry I caused confusion, as what I said is either obvious or wrong.  Heh.

Well I don't know how Tomber gets such good quality out of what appears to be a video camera recording, but I know a lot of us use DVD recorders or capture cards to record.  If you're looking to record something that could be submitted to SDA, I think those are your most likely options.  I think there's a lot of good info at http://www.speeddemosarchive.com/kb

But if you use a video camera and you don't want to spend money on another recording method, sorry, I know nothing about getting good video of a TV with a video camera.

Nice Runs Packattack.

I can't record runs now, because the batteries in my video camera died.
I'm going to get to charging the camera soon to record the speed run.

Tall Trunk's Big Slide - 1:37.95

Bowser's Big Bad Speed Run - 3:15.XX

I thought the practice runs were pretty fast. I'm going to thank everyone for the route tricks used in the runs so they were that fast.

Tall Trunk's Big Slide
Thanks to logitech for the two speed tricks on this level.

Bowser's Big Bad Speed Run
Thanks to Paraxade for the route from Yoshi to a far planet on the first star, hopefully working on this star.
Zelda Rulez!
Hi guys! I uploaded this glitch video today and I hope this glitch can have some potential in future speed running. I haven't found any use for it yet but I still think it's cool glitch anyway! Cheesy

Have fun!!!

BTW: I will upload more fun stuff later what I know now. But sadly I think they are useless too.
Not sure if this has already been brought up, but for green stars in the same mission, (e.g., Shiverburn Galaxy or Sky Station 1&2) the same green star can be selected, but not collected.  This allows skipping of the flying into the galaxy.
So for the Shiverburn Galaxy, choose green star 1 3 times, but collect each star once.
For Sky Station, GS (Green Star) 1, collect 1, GS1, collect 2, GS3, collect 3.

This could easily shave a few minutes of a 100% segmented or single segment run.
DS Dictator
It's useful but you got to be careful (or at least remember) that some of the Green stars are only located on the other mission of the galaxy like Melty Monster Galaxy.
