Hello everyone. I'm new here and for the sole purpose of recording a world record on the lost levels. I'm attempting to do it with Mario if I can. I have the strats to pull it off, but it's going to be incredibly difficult still and I may never pull it off.

Does anyone know if i'm aloud to submit a mp4 file for my video? I'm recording from an Elgato video capture device. Do I really need to make a DVD if I already have an mp4 file with everything already on it?

Hey and welcome to the boards!

You do not need a DVD. Submitting a DVD is only an option for people who have slow internet connections and who wouldn't be able to upload their runs directly. We prefer to have the files sent to us through the upload client.

Before you start recording your runs, be sure to head over to the tech support board and post a video quality test to ensure that your recording settings are good.
I see you running warpless to 8-4 on your Twitch channel. "all levels" usually means warpless to D-4 and warpless to 8-4 is simply called "warpless".
World Record is ~22:18 by Hotarubi.
I wish you luck on getting the record, but imho warpless to D-4 (WR also by Hotarubi, same video) is a more meaningful category.

Ah, good to see you on the forums, Clint89!  I can't wait to see your runs!
Hmmmm. Doesn't Jibupo have the world record? I've never seen this japanese guy you've spoken of blubber?

There isn't a world record run for a warpless all level run by mario on this site, and i certainly don't see a 1-1 through
8-4 record for either character on this site as well.

Is their any typical reason why Hotarubi is not given credit for his run?

One last question. Is it not okay to upload my twitch stream that has the record on it. I use open broadcaster
to show my webcam, wsplit timer, and obviously the game.

As soon as I begin recording again i'll be sure to do a test. I just took a break for a bit. I'll be back at it soon enough.
Thanks for the welcome TJP, and everyone else! I hope to make some good progress soon.

Welcome! Looking forward to seeing your run aswell!

Hotarubi is as legit as they come, being the best speedrunner from Japan, imho ofc!

Yes, he didn't submit it. SDA only shows runs that have been submitted to it. Therefore it's not a good source for records.
But his run would not have been accepted anyway, because it was done on emulator.
jibupo's run is slower, because he uses Luigi and too a far lesser extent because he doesn't get the fire power (killing Bowser with fire power saves time, because the bridge collapsing animation is skipped).

No, that won't work. SDA's video requirements are another reason many people don't submit.
Yes, a cucco riding the ground.

More like laziness is the reason they don't submit. It takes very little effort to crop out that garbage. If someone is too lazy to do that, they're probably too lazy to do a speed run worth watching.
HELLO!
You can't crop out audio commentary.  Good streaming is hard but all it takes to record for SDA is to put a DVD recorder into the loop.
