The fireworks, if he jumps then he would eventually lose more time^^ by not doing the best time he gains more time, yeah, I'm tired.
To that angry person
Someone will come and get that time if Gardikis don't send it in first, but that guy should sure hell get all the attention that he/she deserves, but not Gardikis? Or did you have a masteerplan to bancrupt TG so no one get any records at all? Not even the old school Arcade guys-
Guys c'mon... This conversation isn't productive whatsoever.
I have a feeling that TG is going to be dead soon, regardless of what I, or anyone else does. The organization is very disorganized, many refs have left and it's falling apart. If I send my run to Twin Galaxies, it might be a big deal... I'm not sure. Considering I have better runs here already, it's not all that significant.
In many ways, there really isn't a point to submit this run to TG. I've accomplished what I wanted to for my own sake. Stanski, there's one of two things I want to see happen. I either want to see TG die and a new organization spring up (unlikely), or I want TG to go back to what it was around 2003-2006 (also unlikely). TG used to be a great community, and I'm not sure it will ever be that way again. Most of the idiots scared the good players away from submitting. There is still competition on some, more popular titles, but very little.
All this talk about rules and SMB got me thinking, why was warping like like in 1-2 not considered OoB? Probably because it was so accepted by people playing the game that it came naturally, but I thought it was an interesting observation.
Andrew, don't wait for it to happen, make it happen.
Or, it was an arbitrary rule that was thankfully eliminated (because "meant by the developers" is a hugely slippery slope). It really comes down to the community for each individual game (even if that individual is one person) using logic and reason and deciding what makes sense, not having arbitrary "No OOB" which was thankfully eliminated from SDA
So, yeah, I'm not sure if I'm gonna submit my run to TG... It's funny. I worked so hard on this run (I mean, in general in the past too) and now that I've done it, I'm not sure I want it. I may still submit. I'm really not sure. I just figure I might as well at this point?
The rule got revoked just a month or two prior. It was considered "mysterious teleportation" in 2007. I'm glad that I didn't care about TG nor SDA's rulesets because I wouldn't have gotten the 5:00 run done nearly as quick had I decided to follow SDA's rules at the time.
I can understand why you want to submit it when it took so much hard work. I just hope that TG somehow mentions that you already have the record using a different rule set or something.
I love stanski and andrewg. You guys are my bros forever. Svenne is not so bad either althoug I haven't met him in real life so I can't be certain. TG is eh. I dont' really have an opinion because I'm not involved. I'm just full of love.
Yeah, I'm mean, I don't like TG, not at all but I just feel he was selfish not giving Andrew any credit at all, that run was awesome! And should be sent in, TG might use it as something, I dunno. I'm gonna do another thread about SDA VS TG 101, Because I'm lost at the moment, I know from personal Experience that they truly suck.
My best friend is the Super Mario Bros. Pal WR on TG, just so you know!
Perhaps I was very informal, we in Sweden sayy ou only use firstname if you know or have meet the person, so that's why I used Gardikis, but this is a American site, so I need to get to the programme;D
So you should probebly bann me, so all I can do is to go to TG and only hear their side of this... I'm from the out-side looking in and you seem not willing to make me a part of this, even if I now has this awesome run soon and I really just want to be good at games.
So, what time does one need to get in the Super Mario Bros. Pal record on SDA? So I just can go to John and he have something to gun at, atleast get soemthing out from you that are useful. I'm sorry but you jsut talk but are no show, so goodbye.
going back to the run andrew posted; I like the different way you avoided the fireworks on 8-3. It's a little less obvious than the other method it seems, so maybe less people will ask why you stopped on 8-3 :p

No, they'll just say, "he hit a block and lost some forward momentum; the run could have been faster."
Svenne:
1) There are private threads if you're curious about anything that doesn't fit the topic of a thread. I suggest you figure out how to use them. 2) Find an old thread for smb2, or create a new one if you're serious about running it. This may be helpful: http://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/unofficial_mario_speed_run_records.html
Anyway, I'm gonna do some more hardcore speedrunning for a while. I feel like if I don't get some good runs soon, my focus will shift toward another game.

I have big plans for 2012!
Awesome! I like to see that! 2012 will be an awesome gaming year, if not the movie and that inca/maya stuff happens:P
So, Freddy said that SMB pretty much the same speed on PAL as NTSC, but there are different sound-effects, is that true for serious? John is reallty a great player so he needs to know this and who but you should know this?;D If it is I think he should throw in the towl...
almost... PAL is actually FASTER technically. The only real difference is that Mario accelerates quicker in PAL than in NTSC. So for example, in 4-1, 241 is possible. In ntsc, 240 is the fastest. I think faster times may be possible in PAL due to other glitches as well. I'm not quite sure though... I think the acceleration and glitches are the only differences though.
