Alright, I've been actively working on this (past 2 days)... no progress yet, but I've gotten surprisingly close runs for just a few hours of attempts.

Hi! I'm andrewg!

The 5:08 SMB speedrun for Twin Galaxies (5:05 glitchless SDA) has been thought to be perfect for the past 5 years (see 1st and 2nd page of this thread). I have now disproven this.

This run just meant a lot to me in the past, and still means quite a bit to me, it's where my SMB speedrunning began is all. Afterward, I realized how awesome SDA was for speedrunning.

Anyway, this run is significant, or at least it would have been had I done this 5 years ago. The above run was actually pretty difficult to achieve, but a bit less difficult than the 4:59 I have for SDA.

...and it was a complete waste of time for you to do unless you want the fame that comes along with a TG news post. Good job though getting more fame and notoriety since thats clearly important to you than trying to fix the awful system in place of letting TG be the "official record keeper" if you do submit this to TG. Its amazing to me that you would want to support a site that has hundreds of "records" that can and have been beaten, but whatever some people need a pat on the back to feel good about themselves.

Nice 4-2, 8-2, and 8-4 though, the water section had barely any slowdown at all

Damn, I personally think both ways of finishing a game should suffice. I'm speedrunning SMB2pal because I know I only have to do that awesome run once and get that accepted here and at TG. What fame, having you name on TG podcast? WTF man:P

So you mean he should not get the same amount of credit for speedrunning the game as he is doing it TG style? I don't see the honor in that, this game is the most influential game ever and the NES the most importaint gaming machine ever. And if we take what people consider the best NES game ever, SMB3, Freddy are not on TG but he is still in Guinness Book of Records, not Gardikis fault he must play TG to be in that book.

Thats not what i'm saying at all. Andrew can independently contact guiness if he wants to be in the book (one of my records was once in one edition even though i have never submitted anything to TG because i talked to a guiness representative). You're completely missing the point, you're honestly not going to get it so its pointless talking more to you about it.

The point of doing shit for TG is to get credit or notoriety, but its more important in my eyes to be respected by your peers. Who gives a shit about the mainstream when they know so little about speedrunning/the game that every person that watches it usually asks "why did he stop in 8-3"

You don't think I don't know about the hate between the players and TG, you must be out of your mind. So you feel that Gardikis doing this gives them Legitimacy.

Yes, you are for supporting a shitty organization. If you want to do that, that is your right, but that only helps that organization. If you like them and want to support them go do it!

A lot of people don't like SDA and would rather post their runs on youtube only or don't submit them anywhere. This isn't something exclusive to TG and SDA def did some stupid shit in the past so they have the right to essentially boycott SDA, the same way i always have and will continue to advocate boycotting TG.

TBH I just hate people who outright lie and won't acknowledge mistakes at all and act like the greatest organization on the planet, always self promoting. This is what TG does and it is why i hate on them.

So I don't see you talking talking to Guinness explaining the situation, just bi**hing in here won't make a difference!^^ Well, from their and Guinness POW they are right, so unless you do more then just talk, I will still send in my records and do speedruns on both sites, if I'm great at a game, why should I not be that on another way of playing it?

So, you've seen my personal email account/all the letters i've sent to guinness? Believe me i did advocate against TG being the record keeper, but one person can only do so much in the face of an organization as big and old as TG and I gave up trying a couple years ago when i saw that it was pointless to try to fight against the power of Walter Day's self promotion.

(also, for the record, guiness is a pretty shitty organization as well imo and once i figured this out i stopped supporting them!)

Thank you, well I'm just glad their allowing speedruns on SMB2 now, so I don't have to be as good as Gardikis on a game!;D All I have to do is to beat that record on Allstars on a NES;D Challenge Accepted! perhaps your just jelly, or not getting the amount of love you should have gotten from your parents and taking it out in here?

SO he should just not do more speedruns/TG at all and let some other guy come there first, sorry, even if what you want is good, the honor is that he does this, no one in history can take him down, and then perhaps he never, ever has to go back to TG, but for you, no, he should just wait for someone who is not better become that great?
