A/V: The video seems to have the same framerate and aspect ratio. Resolution is actually bigger than the current record video and it looks more crisp if anything. Can't see ghosting. Has grey bars around the outside that should probably be cropped though.

There are some faster times on SRC (fastest is 6:31) but none of them have clean video so I can see why this was submitted instead. I guess they're timing from New Game so the current run time of 6:41 here is probably a lot slower. And it looks that way too, comparing the vids directly. Multiple areas, especially those leading to the second last and last Bowser encounters, are noticeably faster. One trick that the old run had to try twice and generally wasn't having luck with, here succeeds almost instantly.

easy accept

A/V appears fine. It looks like the runner had the brightess turned up a bit. No cheating detected.

I've been around here so long that for a minute I thought 16 stars was still Low%...

I watched the 6:41 and this run back to back. I timed both from first movement after the initial text box (the one after Mario comes out of the pipe) and got a 5:45 for this run (control ends at touching the giant star). This runs attempt to get to Bowser in the Fire Sea was the biggest noticeable difference but there were some smaller ones too, like not getting stuck on the pipe edge in Bowser in the Sky.

Accept.
Decision posted.

I just cam to Mario 64 thread to say hi and that I love SM64. Smiley
I'm noticing this run was accepted but never actually posted on the SDA page. Is there a reason for this or is it an oversight?
It was posted. I think the confusion here is that the runner submitted it 5 years after the run was completed.
The run has no uploads on SDA though, if you go to the game page and click on Xiah's run it results in an error message (see here: https://speeddemosarchive.com/demo.pl?Mario64_SS_0star_644)
My bad, I assumed you meant the run itself just wasn’t listed at all on the game page, rather than the encodes. Hmm that is strange, not even an archive.org link is there either.
I mean yeah, I assumed that the run on the game page was outdated and that this one had never been put up (I didn't realize the run had been done 5 years before submission), but I also assumed there being no encodes was a result of the run on the game page being outdated.
I asked Israeli to check what's going on with the run!
