The TrUest of Shades
Instead of using like the GameCube attachment to run gameboy games on.

Would it be possible to use the Super Game boy attachment instead?

Main Work!!!
Yes, it doesn't change anything as far as I'm aware(aside from the number of compatible game).
The TrUest of Shades
yah, like the game i want to run is an old gameboy game, but i just wanted to make sure that i could still us it.
Main Work!!!
You just need either a capture card or a dvd recorder and everything should be fine.

You can use it to record the run. The SGB hardware runs faster than a regular gameboy so your actual final time will be multiplied by 1.024115 (nice number right?) to be comparable to a non-SGB time. Anything you would want to know can be found here: http://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Super_Game_Boy_timing
Exoray
Super Game Boy is no longer accepted at SDA partially due to the speed issue and partially due to something else that I don't remember right now.
Use the gamecube gameboy player.
Balls jerky
Well that's news to me.
Talk to the Hand
Asking around, it sounds like it's news to everyone.

If that's true, you may want to mention it...somewhere, ANYWHERE on the site. Doing a ctrl-F on "Super Game Boy" in the FAQ and Submissions Page yielded nothing, and the Knowledge Base notes that it's faster (And that this is a problem), but doesn't outright say that it's banned.
Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, first I've heard of it too.  Not that I have any plans on a SGB played game, but still...
Exoray
To be honest I can't remember where I read it being completely obsolete, I just remember seeing it from back a couple of years ago. Reading the first sentences of the kb page that seems to be the case at first, however it seems super game boy is actualy mentioned as barely accepted if you read further, so I might be wrong about this.
The game boy player would give a better quality though so it would still be the preferred option, but better check with nate regarding the acceptance of SGB.
The TrUest of Shades
See this is why i ask. Cause yah i read on the FAQ that the gamecube gameboy player was accepted but said nothing about the Super Game Boy

SGB is accepted since the exact time-difference has already been calculated although gbp is preferred cause it gets rid of re-calculations.
I guess it's been so long since somebody submitted a run on SGB that nobody actually remembered what the ruling is, lol
Hi! I'm andrewg!
I believe it is and still should be accepted since the calculation is there.

Wario will probably hack the site if you ban SGB.
Exoray
Noone's said anything about removing already submitted runs Smiley
I see no reason to not accept SGB runs. SGB borders are just too cool.
Main Work!!!
I agree with tranquilite Tongue and aside from that if we have the timing rate, there shouldn't be any reason we don't accept it personally.
torch slug since 2006
accept sgb runs
So these are still accepted? Does anyone know what the format standards are for these submissions (border/no border, palette, cropping the game screen, etc?)
largely up to you. if there's a special border then it doesn't make much sense to crop it since it could be considered part of the game. but borders that add nothing should probably be cropped.
