I'm always 'working on it'. I have a route for the first five levels down (apologies, most of the insane TAS boosts won't be seen here) and I've had the recorder on every time I play for the last eight months or so. It simply refuses to happen.
This game is so hard to predict.  I can't imagine it won't take a FEW acts of God to actually cement a decent run.
Well, I think the rerecord count on the TAS says it all, really.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
Ideally then, barring any "too conservative" game play.  You would be running for just a SS with no deaths?  Do you have a goal time in mind?
wise fwom yo gwave
Just to give you encouragement: it took me 8 months of playing at least 4 days a week and recording castlevania bloodlines in order to get a run, and it took me nearly a year to get a decent run of sonic 2. So don't be too discouraged, it will happen, and you've put it all that work so you should put it to good use!
SS?

I can't do SS yet. It's hard enough just to blast through five stages in any acceptable amount of time without dying.

At least for the first run I do of this game, I'll be segmenting it between level 5 and 6.

You can play your first run little bit safety. It is mostly important if you can make it without dying. I know some very simply time savers.

Level 3-2: you can skip  block bridge using simply enemy boost onto upper platform.
Level 8- This vertical room. I can falling it very fast down using enemy boosts
Level 8- Last part i can run through spears without ducks.

Level B-1- First room i can falling it down quickly without killing enemys and getting only one enemy hit.
Level B-1- After Bat bridge i can skip stairs using bat enemy boost.

Yeah this game will be quite risky run. But in first run it is most important avoid deaths. And of course you can use some simply speedtricks.
I'm well aware of all that, although I think I will have to crouch at least twice in the spike chamber there and I'm really bad at the level 8 drop, keep massacring myself on the spikes. The waterfall trick is my favourite boost in the entire game BTW Cheesy

Is ID-level table allowed at this game?

I think good rules with this:
1-No deaths
2-No weapon starts
3-Time stop when you got cyrstal ball.

I have interested make ID levels runs. I practice make some levels my Snes. My best level 1 is 302/450 time remain. I think there is potential at least 305. Im not sure run ingame clock faster on US versio. There is some games where clock run faster on US-versio for example Ninja gaiden & SMW.

I can,t recorded that game my Snes, but i think i will buy this game next my virtual console. ID level table sounds just quite interesting. I think SS-run take just more effort. But i look forvard that later.
306 is possible on level 1.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
I guess an IL table could work since you always start off with the same stuff when you use a password, IIRC.

Real-time I average 2:36-2:38 for an acceptable NTSC run of level 1 (timing until I hit the crystal), and the in-game timer is inconsistent (sometimes it will tick from 450 to 449 immediately, others it won't, and I think that's just the BEGINNING of the troubles) so don't trust it.

@mike: Passwords set you at the beginning of the level (or block in the case of B-3 and B-4) with 5 lives, 5 hearts, no weapons and 0 score. Passwords are name-specific to a degree (I'm not sure exactly how name-specific they are, but for every name I've ever played as the passwords have always been different) and for every normal-mode password there is a different hard-mode password that sets you on the same level with the same equipment but in the more difficult Second Quest.

EDIT: I just did a fairly decent run of Level 1 (2:37 or thereabouts) and the timer read 311. Unless you guys really ARE missing almost five seconds of timesavers, I think there's a discrepancy between the PAL and NTSC timer

311 T-remain sounds really good.

I not never trying make that run very seriously. My 302 includes some mistakes & probably some wrong intentions. I as well think it is faster take double pack and skip invisible bottle. I as well think it is possible go through medusa head place without any pauses. These ones saves some times, but i not know how much, but im not uses these things my test run.

I think i will buy this game my Wii end of this week or next week. I just want check out how fast i am. I think i will post some levels on youtube later.

But yeah ID level tables sounds truly awesome idea. It is definitely cooler idea than segmented run what you plan run ColonelFatso.

Asshole Cheesy

Hmm... wonder if I have time to rerecord that run over to DVD right now

Probably wouldn't take more than fifteen minutes and then I could show you what I do.

EDIT: Currently in the upload process at youtube. Didn't feel like going through the proper encoding procedure, instead simply dumping the VRO on em

EDIT2: It's up.

Extremely well done right there, Colonel. Damn fine execution.

I hope to see more soon.
Thanks! Ideally I would be maintaining that sort of speed throughout each segment, but I think some levels (particularly stages 9 and A) will end up slower.

Indeed, well done.
Damn well done Smiley

Huh Shocked

You make my run looks so sloppy. Thats really awesome job. You give me really good challenges if i try redo this. I don,t believe i can make it better. But there are alot cool new stuffs.

I just not sure make triple pack boss fight any faster than double pack? this take something 1-2 seconds pick up it. Tongue
I'm not sure what the specific speed difference is, but the III block comes in handy later on in the run and I'm not even sure where the III blocks drop in level 2
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
I've gotten it in different places, so I think it may be random or be related to the number of candles hit.
Hmm, are you sure it's the number of candles hit or the number of weapons thrown? Remember that the TAS levels up holy water in just two screens by tossing them at everything.
General Kong - Bullets and Bananas
Definitely not sure, but with TAS, just about anything is possible.  I'll toy around with it and report anything I find straight to you Colonel.

Actually i see you probably can save 1-2 seconds.:
-Not break these blocks where you got double pack.
-Use one cross against last bone pillar. You lost at least 1-2 sec with this
-Use two cross against Rowdain 1st phase.

But anyway i not sure how this working, but i personally believe this can save. Your last bone tower kill was just little slow. I can make it without stop using one cross and one whip hit. Wink
I don't think one whip hit takes a full second, but I'll experiment with it and see what I come up with.

Defintely not, it's a fraction of a second.  That's something that always amuses me.  People usually think one second is "one" second.  If you actually time it, count to ten as fast as you can, that is actually closer to one second.  You can probably whip three times per real second.
