SGL Scrublord
Hey everyone, rather than have Mike keep pulling his hair out over a fairly casual game I've made this here thread. We need a full roster of 8 for the race, or its going to be dropped from the schedule. Please post in the thread if you are willing to do the race, otherwise we need to fill in some time.

According to the Sign Ups Thread, the people who are still coming and had interest are:
theseawolf1
UltraJMan
Zyre
Feasel (Stealin my knight, that's just cold)
Uranium Anchor (sort of)
duckfist
Thread title:
I'm interested. I've beat the game a few times so I have some knowledge of it's workings. It should be pretty fun!
that Metroidvania guy
If Raen's in, guess that makes me #8 (p.s. I'm probably coming)
SGL Scrublord
So you are coming! Awesomeness!!

Cool! Good to know that the 8-way race is on. Now the question is how many people we'll have to duct tape. Lips Sealed
I fully plan on joining in on the puns Cheesy
Talk to the Hand
I'm not coming to the summer marathon, which means Essentia will have to supply her own duct tape in that case. Tongue
Everything's better with Magitek
Not a problem, Emptyeye.  I've even got some fancy zebra-colored duct tape we could use. Wink

Everyone else I listed said they were interested way back when, you all still on board for this?

Aye

Ducky and I were playing this just now, and it kinda sunk in that if everyone starts at level 1, this run is going to take forever with 4 players. I think we should allow everyone to start at level 5 like we did at AGDQ if we're gonna be safely under the 2 hour estimate, because even starting at that level with broken weapons and playing with the dude who holds the speed run record for this game we barely broke 1:40 from the start to beating the final boss.

By the way, do we want to just determine teams now? Because I think we decided on our team being me, duckfist, JMan, and UraniumAnchor.
So I'm trying to think of how we'd prepare this setup.

I don't think there's a way for us to start with any extra weapons or familiars, since we'd all have to create new accounts on the 360s at Essentia's place.  When we all get there, we'll have to make profiles on the 360, which should reset the 4 color knights, and then level each up to 5 before the race begins on Friday morning.  I guess that's it, but the main point is nobody will start with decent weapons, like we were kind of preparing for.

Also, what will the "class" distributions be?  Is everyone just maxing out strength first, and then vitality/agility?  Or will we have like one person maxing out agility first?

Additionally, it's probably a good idea to designate one person from each group to be the menu/map navigator, so there's not a huge conflict of input from each person.
The Speedrunning Teacher
As far as the extra accounts, you may be able to move them to another 360 via thumb drives: Xbox website. We could all copy our profile/game save of choice to a thumb drive, then copy them onto the xbox for our team. This may also work for Aftermath's CHoD run.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Duckfist, you want one person to go with agility so he can spam arrows at the corn boss.
Okay Mike, I thought that was the case, I remember one person went agility last AGDQ.

I'd imagine the agility person will be pretty crippled after the first stage and up through mid-game.  The agility person will probably want to avoid meleeing enemies after like 2 stages, since accidental knockback could prevent other players from inflicting more damage.  The exception is bosses, or enemies that don't get knocked down (are there any?).

Maybe I'm looking into it too much, and I'm not necessarily volunteering to be the archer, I just wanted to bring it up for clarification. Wink

So I take it then the teams have kinda become:

Romscout, UltraJMan, Feasel and Duckfist

vs.

Raen, Uranium Anchor, Zyre and theseawolf1

...if so, for each team:
Who wants to be the Agility guy?
Who wants to run the map and pauseskip stage endings?
Does anyone dare to go Magic (likely a bit slower)?

Be on the lookout for good pun opportunities. Also, I assume duels will be fought to the death ad lib, not to a predetermined winner...right?

Feel free to post any other gameshattering requirements we'll need, I'm still recovering from a BBQ yesterday and I think I hear the corn boss roaring at me constantly for making creme brulee using some cornstarch.
The Speedrunning Teacher
I won't mind trying to be the Agility guy for my team. I'll pass on the map/pauseskip stage endings control though. Plus, I'm in favor of ad lib deaths, it'd make things interesting.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
Duckfist: If the agility guy stops melee'ing, then he gets no levels, you need at least 12-13 points in agility to prevent the corn boss from attack.

TheSeaWolf1: I'm 99% sure that Feasel will be running the map for his team, and he'll probably be going with Magic because he's a Red Knight user.

difficult and stupidly random
Actually I will probably do strength build for this (and i don't care which character i use as long as it's not Green Knight).  Though I think red-knight/magic may have untapped potential for 1p, it would not be effective in 4 player because (a) lack of experience points, (b) inability to manipulate enemy movements, (c) the fact that other people meleeing thru would mess up the lightning-locks.  Strength is nice because it works well in all situations.

As for teams, romscout has made one suggestion and theseawolf1 has made another.  Should i assume the later team assignment is correct?  I'm cool either way, and I'm happy to practice online with anybody from either team.  Just PM me here or nickflash me in IRC if you want to set something up.

I can handle the map/menu movements, if nobody else on my team wants to.

I suck hard at pinning the corn boss with arrows, tho, so i do not volunteer for that job.
SGL Scrublord
I just figured the foursome that was practicing was going to be a team. Frankly I have the PS3 version, and seem to be in the minority there. I've no problem playing Xbox, but I've got a feeling I'll be practicing more alone and on site than on network.
The Speedrunning Teacher
I'll be free tomorrow night for some online practice (360 version). Anyone who wants to can join in. I'll be working on the agility build (thinking of getting up to about 15 agility, then the rest in strength and defense). PM me if you don't already have me as a friend on Live.
that Metroidvania guy
Oh yea, I'm free like, whenever as well. The team of me, feasel, JMan, and duckfist is fine by me.

Zyre: If you're going with agility, there's no reason to put your points into other stats until agility is maxed.

Noted, I'll plan on that.
