Not in the forseeable future, no.  Grin

But back on topic, I FINALLY managed to record a decent run. 44:58 single seg. It's not my best, but for the time being it's close enough. There were a few missions that took me longer than I'd have liked, but overall I'm happy with this time.

If I feel enthusiastic I'll try and cut it down, but my plan right now is to submit this run, put in the commentary that I know I can go faster, and wait to see if it's ever broken before I attempt to go faster.

Just in case anybody out there is wondering where the run has gone, I watched the tape back early this morning and decided that the first few characters aren't up to par. For example, It takes me more than four tries to pull off a Super Skullo Crasher, and Kairi's 12th task is painfully slow.

So I'm trying again. Until I beat or get close to my previous best of 42:20 I'm not submitting the tape.

I'm afraid you'll have to be a little more patient! :-[

Cry Cry Cry Cry Cry

I've been so close on a couple of recent attempts, but both times I made unacceptable errors within the last ten minutes. First time I was 32 minutes into the run and screwed it up, and just now I was 4 characters from home with ten minutes to go when I ****ed up on Guile.  Angry

I'm getting there, though. Just a little longer...

Finished on May 1st. 43:08, and Garuda can take his Guard Break and go STRAIGHT TO HELL! Seriously, that one task took well over a minute. I could have set a new personal best if he'd had JUST ABOUT ANY OTHER GUARD BREAK ANIMATION IN THE GAME! And it's not like anyone will be using that combo in a match anyway. :S

I've contacted Radix via ICQ but I've yet to hear back from him. It's been a couple of days. Does anyone know where he is?

You basically have to keep trying until you get a response(from what I've heard). It does take awhile.

Bad news guys. I heard from Radix today, and apparently Nate does not have the ability to capture runs on PAL games. Which is what I operate on, living as I do in Australia.

Unless someone knows of a way for me to upload the video myself we'll just have to wait. A while.
upload ? you mean you have already manually captured your run ? if that's the case, a simple host, such as archive.org or filefront.com would do the trick.
if not, you might want to start looking for people/solutions ready to capture it for you...

I guess I could if necessairy..
Take This! Ultra Frisbee-Disk Attack!
Hopefully someone does so we can see the run.
Try to upload it to combovideos.com :).

About that upload thing, that was just my poor terminology. I haven't captured it myself, I have an actual PAL video casette with the run on it sitting in my room.

Wouter, I might just take you up on that offer. I'd be extremely thankful if you could turn my PAL run into something Radix can use and host here. Would I just send you the tape and commentary, etc for you to forward?

I'm sure I could. if you just tell me all I need to know about what needs to be captured (like from where to where is all required, I'm not sure). You can contact me on aim, I'm on there a lot. I could also send you some High Quality vids so you know how they would look, and if you want I can also send some compressed avis or whatever you'd like.

I think for the commentary, you'd just give that to Radix, since I don't need it to capture the run Wink Of course it would make the package more complete, so it's a nice idea though.

I'll give you my address on aim if you're up for it =)

(or if you don't have aim, msn would be a possibility, although I'm very rarely on there; you could email me though)

You bet I'm up for it Smiley

I just downloaded AIM, so go ahead and give me your address for that and I'll get in touch when I figure out exactly which bits of the tape need capturing.

Ooh, this would be neat.  Way back when I tried to complete it, but I think was 2 tests short..I couldn't get one of Ryu's (some combo with the Hurricane Kick in there) and one of Vega/M.Bison's.  All the rest though, even Guile's! Happy day.

It's been yeaaaaaaaars since then so seeing them all done would be neat.  The baseball bat guy was cool, as well as Darin and Skullomania. INDORAAAA BASHIIIIIIIIIIIII!  SKULL CRUSHAAAAAAAA! go go go

Good news and disappointing news.

Good news: The run is actually 42:55, not 43:08. I just watched the tape back for the purposes of drafting my commentary, and found that the time is faster. I'm happy about it being in the same minute range as my personal best, although ahd the run been flawless I MAY have been under 40 minutes. There's something for future runners to aim for!

Disappointing news: The tape quality isn't great. There's a large fuzzy bar at the start of the first task, and for a brief time during D. Dark's missions as well. But it soon fades. There are also ghostly blue images of the characters throughout, but they aren't distracting. In any event the overall quality is better than the Duck Tales run on this site, so I'm hoping the quality doesn't bar submission. Perhaps Wouter may even be able to do something about it when he captures the run, although I don't know if it's possible to improve tape quality when you're only capturing what is already there.

If you're reading this Wouter, I'll be in touch some time this afternoon according to my timezone (it's currently 2:18am Friday morning). I'll tell you how much of the tape needs capturing, and work out the details of getting the tape to you.

So all going to plan, the run should be in queue for approval in the near future, and be available for download not long after that. I hope you enjoy it. Cheesy

P.S. I've deliberately kept my experiences with Pullum's infamously tricky 16th task secret, and for a reason. You'll see why if you watch the run. ^_^

get it before it's taken down or something.

it's 177 MB.

I also have High Quality version which is 1,17 GB.

Beware of first 6 minutes, really bad quality (even when played back on tv).
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Unfortunately, that bit about quality is all too true. Which is why, as Wouter already knows, I've decided to re-run the game. Who knows, you might not have to put up with a god awful Garuda this time round.
please buy a new tape next time. it seems the beginning of the tape has been used just too many times, ie the following scenario :
- rewind tape to beginning
- start recording
- within the first 6 minutes, screw up the run
- end recording
wash, rince, repeat. for each try...
so it's no wonder the tape is dying.
maybe you'd want to invest into a dvd recorder ? Wink

on a side note, I'd like to say that, even though the video quality is discouraging, the playing is awesome, and that I'm impressed by your skills. I was never able to finish this mode, let alone in less than 45 minutes... props dude !

and thanks to Wouter_Jansen for the encoding/uploading Smiley

Forget it. I'm chucking it in. It's too much frustration. One of the buttons on the controller is starting to rattle from the abuse I've put it through. Plus, I have a wealth of other games I could be playing that I haven't even touched.

You've got a video there, albeit a crappy quality one, but you can still see most of it. It's certainly better than nothing.

Sorry to leave you without an official submission, but like I said at least you've got some form of a run.

now if someone would have the HQ...
100% runs=great to watch
That was pretty nifty...reminded me very much of the crazy training mode in Flying Dragon 64 for N64.  (Nightmares of pulling of the Judo/Jujitsu girl's joint manipulations)

That said, I GOTTA find that Dhalsim/Darun theme music that plays when it is their fight...what is the name of that track...or is it even included in any OST's?
