Running for the good of humanity!!!
I just started playing this game and love it.  Has anyone done worked on a run for it?  Would anyone be interested in doing a run for it?  Collaborating on one?

Just Wonderin'...
Thread title:
I r run gudder!
I beat this game a long time ago but really havnt touched it since. I'll reinstall and play through again trying to find anything special to save time.

It's-a me, Raven!
I TRIED running it a good year ago, but my PC got fried in a power surge. My new videocard doesn't support output to my DVD recorder, so I had to cancel the project. There was someone else collaborating on the game with me too. Let me see if I can find the threads back for you.

I believe the FileFront files are defunct. There's room for improvement (door breaches, to name one).

That someone else was me.

I still think about this run that remains half completed on my hard drive. I'm currently reading the Republic Commando novels, so I may get interested enough to pick the run back up. Nevertheless, I would still be happy to help you with any benchmarks and tricks I've made/found.

There's a few good games I'm playing/will play soon (just beat Orange Box, but Eternal Sonata, Mass Effect, and maybe Assassin's Creed remain). Afterwards, around December/January, there seems to be a lull in new games and I may decide to pick this run up again. We'll see...

Note: Just looked at the timestamp on the rest of the messages in the thread. Oh well, late to the party.

ooo...the guy actually running it replied.  That is awesome!

I might run it I might not...not completely sure...but I would be interested in trying it.

Any help you can give would be appreciated...

Just checked all three of my HD's - can't find the original VOB files; looks like I deleted them when I gave up on the project. Too bad the FileFront files are down - I'm still relatively proud of my run-attempt - especially the spaceship part.
Hey there, Defender! Long time, no siege Wink Better late than never.
Elaqure, what do you mean "the GUY actually running"? Wink If you run it yourself, here's two great hints: first, use door-breaches, and do them by yourself - a trick Defender used. Second: use melee attacks - a friggin lot; regular enemies are a breeze, and elites can be easy if properly handled (circle-strafe FTW!).

Hey Raven! I checked my hard drive and I think I have your files. Were they named "SW-RC_01_Geonosis_1-2.avi"? If so, I have the two for Geonosis, and the two for the Prosecutor. I don't have an easy way to upload them, but I'll figure something out if you want me to get them to you (or to anyone else).

Good tips, and I definitely agree. I'd say another really important point to make is to really learn where the pickups for grenades and AA are, then be sure you've used most or all of your reserve by the time you get to the pickup.

Also, be sure to play on "Normal"... I think playing it on Easy is a lot more interesting, since you can run past more enemies (but not everything), however SDA rules state that there needs to be a Normal run first.

That being said, remember you're making a speed run, not just playing the game. Every step of your run, think "Does killing that guy, going for that pickup, or waiting for my teammates result in finishing the level faster?" Because that was my biggest stumbling block when I first started, that I wanted to just play the game again, rather than plow through it. It's OK to leave your team behind/dead, because they'll all respawn at the next load point with 1/2 (yellow) health.

There are a few places where enemies won't spawn or scripted scenes don't occur if you do certain things. There aren't many (it's a very solid game), but I'll mention one that stands out. On Geonosis, when you're closing the windows, just after you set the detonator for the second time (and just before the final window closing room), stand as close to the door as you can when you blow the explosives. That way you can start going down the ramp when the door opens. If you do it correctly, the 4 droids 6 droids and 2 SBDs at the bottom of the ramp shouldn't be there, and you can close the windows at your leisure.

Tactical use of grenades is probably the most strategic thing you can do, so plan that out as much as you can. Same with the AA. All grenades serve a purpose and should be used often (though the flashbangs don't start to shine until Prosecutor or Kashyyyk).

Edit: Forgot how many droids the glitch skipped.
.
SDA rules only state that there needs to be a Normal run if the other difficulty levels are unlocked during the game. (i.e NG+)

If Easy difficulty is available from a fresh install, it's allowed.

Huh... so it is. Guess I just always assumed. That's too bad, I probably would have been done an Easy run by now Smiley

Thanks for the heads up, Shadow.

My graphic card is toooooooo shitty. I can't pass through mission 3 because I'm always under 10 FPS, which is unplayable. If I have a new graphic card at Xmas (like X1950 Pro or 8800GT), I could restart my GRAW2 run and finish it. But with my X300SE, it's simply impossible.

Maybe with SWRC it will be possible ^^

I don't recall perfectly, but I think each "world" was three segments, not two, but then again, it's been so long. Yup, that's the structure I used in my filenames. Feel free to put them up somewhere if you wish, but don't feel forced to - not on my account, at least.

Didn't know about that spawn-glitch; then again, I wasn't looking for any glitches anyway... Although I do remember that during a testrun on Geonosis that ONE time some droids didn't spawn...
