Hello everyone,

A couple of weeks ago I put up a thread regarding the SO relay later this year, and below is the information regarding it.

The relay will be on April 16th, a Saturday starting at 9 am CST.

It is being hosted on the RPG Limit Break channel on Twitch. twitch.tv/rpglimitbreak.

The runners, games and PBS are listed below
Gerrick1- Star Ocean: First Departure - 2:45:xx
GearlessRobot - Star Ocean: The Second Story: 4:59:xx
Aithere - Star Ocean: Til the End of Time: 3:09:xx
BowieTheHero - Star Ocean: the Last Hope: 4:36:xx

Race?
I know of a couple of people who are learning, or know some of these games. As of now this is a typical relay, but I know some people have indicated they would like it to be a race. The only problem with having a race is that we don't currently have a second runner for SO2. Below are the runners who were interested in have the game as a race and their games. If we can find another runner who would like to learn SO2, we would have ourselves a race.

Symm_ Star Ocean: First Departure
TideRuglia Star Ocean: Til the End of Time
SomeDDRNoob Star Ocean: The Last Hope

If someone knows another SO2 runner who would like to participate, and the current crew is down, a race would be great. Please let me know.

Shout outs to Rybasteon who made layouts I've provided to our runners, which they should have received the URL for via twitch message. If anyone has any issues with making the relay, or have any questions or concerns, please let me know.
Thread title:
Would it be too stupid if you just stopped the timer for SO2 and got the times for the other 3?
Professional Second Banana
Depending on how difficult the SO2 run is, maybe someone could learn it to run for the relay (assuming it'd still be possible to make balanced teams)?
It's not a super difficult run, I will have learned it before the time of the relay, so I could possibly do both. I know that sounds like shameless self promotion, but if doing a race would be better, and is what people want I would be willing to do it.
You could try to ask mochigome. The problem with that is I don't know how much English he knows, so you might need to find an interpreter if you want to go that route.
twitch.tv/Symm_
I know someone who would be able to ask him. He doesn't know much English at all, but I'm sure Google Translate might suffice? xD

Could just leave SO2 out of the races., but still have the others.
Insanity Prelude
You can use google translate to do some basic communication if you need to translate stuff to JP; that's how I and others have communicated with JP runners in the past.

NeoSlash also apparently knows Disc 1 of SO2, so if you could convince him to learn the second half, that could also work?

News everyone, I may have found another Star Ocean 2 runner (and a 3rd one possibly if needed, will mention name when necessary), and he has expressed interest in joining the relay.
His Twitch handle is Sentulututu (https://www.twitch.tv/Sentulututu), he is in the midst of doing his first Star Ocean 2 run (Emulator) by the time of this post.

So, I think we can definitely turn this relay into a race. I hope this isn't too short of a notice for everyone, but I am definitely excited by this.
Looking forward to this relay/race.. Star Ocean FTW!
Hey, as SomeDDRnoob wrote I'm starting to learn this game and I'm deffinitely up for joining a race, and Sttaner93 (also started learning with me) is interested aswell.
Hi, as Sentulututu mentioned, we are learning SO2 currently. I am interested in participating in the race.

For those who missed it, the relay is now over. Twitch highlights and YouTube mirrors for each of the runs are now available on the RPG Limit Break channels per website. Thank you Gerrick1 for hosting the event and inviting all of us to participate in the relay, whether it be commentary, running the game, making layouts, monitoring the chat, etc.

The final run times are the following:
SO1: 2:53:47
SO2: 5:15:53
SO3: 3:43:36
SO4: 3:03:00
Grand Total: 14:56:16

My thoughts:

I think this was a successful event, we've peaked around 700 viewers and kept nearly 500 viewers constantly throughout the 15 hours of streaming. We would love to include Blue Sphere and Integrity and Faithlessness for the next relay (or even a race, if our relay convinced anyone to learn and run the games!).

The toughest moments were with things mostly out of our control, such as the 2x Harfainx boss in Star Ocean 2, the softlocking tri-ACEs in Star Ocean 3, and Armaros Manifest in Star Ocean 4. We all toughed it out and made it through, even though it was frustrating for the runners themselves to surpass these obstacles.

A personal note: The relay itself was the first major event for me in a marathon-like setting. Even though it was online, I was feeling quite nervous and wasn't  quite sure if I was able to make it without having a nervous breakdown. After a few minor mental hiccups, I settled down and focused hard on making sure I was able to talk about everything as if I was delivering this run in person at a marathon. In the end, I would like to thank everyone for bearing with me as I stumbled upon a few things in my commentary. I definitely enjoyed being a part of the relay, and hope I can participate in an event like this again.

Feel free to leave any constructive criticisms for the event here.
You can also join us at the tri-ACE speedrun Discord channel here if you wish to learn or discuss tri-ACE speedgames in general.
I probably need to resurface my disc
I need to learn how to audio balance
and I'd like to see this as a yearly thing

thanks all
