PSp version of Tactics has a lot of slowdown IIRC.
Fucking Weeaboo
Yeah, I think that's one of things people were complaining about when it came out and between that and the retranslation keep saying the PS1/PSN copy is superior.

2012 - Starting a thread to circumvent the rules and 'siding with Tranquilite' like he's some kind of demagogue? lol. It sounds to me like you don't actually own the game and you're looking for a circumvention in the rules to be able to save money. I know you have a capture card, just get the damn game on PS1 or buy a Breaker Pro.

lol I was just stating that I share his views on the matter. I'm not looking to circumvent the rules- my current living situation restricts my use of my PS1, hence why I'd like to be able to use my PSP instead. Being able to use my own copies of games to play would make things easier, hence the creation of this thread.

Correct. The PS1 version is much better.

Am I the only one who read that as "I'm too lazy to hook up my PS1"? I give up.

I really hope you aren't just too lazy to hook up the ps1/2.

You should have read it as "my current living situation restricts my use of my PS1". I don't have room to set up my PS1 and a TV. I'm telling you the truth. In what world would anybody actually be too lazy to hook up their console to have fun? lol And why does it even matter?

We're not talking about the PSP release "War of the Lions", but rather playing the PSX version using the PSP emulator.

It would be nice if an admin chimed in on this. Can you use your own eboots to speedrun on SDA as long as the game is on PSN, and it is shown to be working properly? Looking at compatibility lists, it looks like the differences between pops versions has to do with playability (e.g. if the game freezes/crashes). There doesn't seem to be any differences in performance (e.g. slow-down and load times) between versions. So all you have to do is find a version that doesn't freeze or crash 100% of the time. Therefore version difference shouldn't be an issue, because just like with the Wii, "it either works, or it doesn't", as Sir VG said. I can link to a giant compatibility list if you'd like. I think as long as the eboot is created properly, and with the correct patches applied when needed, it will run identical to the PSN version. I'll be doing more research on this.

Edit: Switching versions is actually really easy for anyone that doesn't know. POPSloader lets you choose the version you wish to use every time you start up a PS1 game.

Don't mince my words, please.  I said that on the WII that it either "works or doesn't".  The PSP CAN have issues depending on the game.

I should record some examples of games that work differently between PS1, PS2, PSN, and eboot.

I never said that the PSP COULDN'T have issues depending on the game. I'm saying that if you have multiple versions of POPS that can play a certain game the entire way through, there is almost never any performance difference (see what I mean by "performance" above). And some real examples of differences between versions would be awesome. Between PS1 and PS2 though, I've never noticed any difference, even in load times (when comparing a brand new PS1 to a brand new PS2). Of course, I could be wrong. Smiley
