They do at least have some material to make a third game. The predator ship following the human ship in the end, the Iron bears quest for exterminating the predator race, the message "reallocating resources to site #3" in the alien ending... all these things are stuff they can build a new game on.
Anyway, just as chillout I'm not really impressed with my own work. I just treat it like this "well, I did that so I know I can do it, nothing special", nothing I do myself impress me although others have clearly been impressed by my work. I'm only impressed when its something I can't do myself.

Yeah, I've thought about those strange things that you mention since I last played the game...
Just imagine it: A new AvP with über-graphics (really scary environment, good looking shading etc.) and no bugs... wow...
But the Iron Bears exterminating the Predators? The Yautja?
I would really like to see it being done with the Doom 3 engine or the FEAR engine, mostly because these are the only engines for the moment that can offer a scary environment. And since Monolith did both AvP 2 and FEAR maybe it could be a deal... enough speculating
I'm done with the alien runs, completely. Unless someone manage to beat them I won't make any effort to take the record back, and to be honest I think I will have to wait quite some time before I have to defend my records 8)
Chillout: What I did with the XviD codec was simply to uncheck "respect VBV buffer" and checked "loose curve scaling". By doing this I got much closer to the target bitrate of 512 kbps, one of the videos actually ended right on 512. Overall quality was improved a lot, now you can actually see what happens on screen
Edit: With "respect VBV buffer" checked and "loose curve scaling" unchecked most of the videos ended up around 300-350 kbps. With the settings reversed the videos made a leap up to 450-512 kbps.
I cant find the "respect VBV buffer" or the "loose curve scaling" Where is it ? Also, what bitrate should i have when making the Medium Quality. 512 ?
Edit: Im currently checking the exact time.
ReEdit: Final time for the Avp2 Predator run is 23:49 1 second improvement Also, in this one it is 7 segments divided accordingly to the missions. (Last one it was 13 segments)
I see the same window, but the options are not there. I have the XviD-1.1.0 - 30 12 2005
The Predator run, 1 second. :-/ I thought it would be more when i was finished. But im leaving it like that. I feel the most joy by the lower segments.
Thank you very much, i appriciate it. It helped me alot.
I have made a test video. Please check if Radix would accept it. Medium Quality. Tell me also if there is anything that i can improve. I had the Loose curve scaling checked and the Respect VBR buffer Unchecked.
Looks good enough, although I think Radix would like it more if you keep the audio at 22050Hz and 64kbps and reduce the frame rate to 25 fps for the medium quality video.
A lame bump, I know. Just wanted to share with everyone who followed this project that my runs are right now going up on Radix' FTP. Judging by the verification thread chillout's runs seem to be up already
So you both did the runs.. Amazing. That makes me happy to see that there are ppl like you I hope my run will be as good as yours, except that I'll take care of first part. But be my guest to try that one aswell!
Hi there! I was thinking of doing a AVP2 Marine run? I've found some new shortcuts and some small timesavers. Can annyone tell me what is the best times for the segments? I cant fint the videos of the marine run..

All the AvP2 runs will be up on the site soon, I hope. I've verified all of them, but it seems like Radix hasn't got enough time to time them yet... I think chillout's marine run was just under 40 min.
I will attempt a marine run myself when I get some better hardware (my current comp is killing me), on a higher difficulty, though.
Btw, congratulations for not making a new topic like most new people do.
