Hi.

(I hope this is the right place to ask this.) I'm currently speedrunning the challenge mode of the game Kiai Resonance. I've beaten it in about 8:50 . But as I'm new to this I would have some questions :

- When should I begin timing the run? According to the faqs, it's when I first gain control of the character. But as it's different challenges in one run, in which I will have to enter the challenges again, it would seem more logical to begin when I enter the first one, or even when I press a key at the main menu.

- Can my run be featured on SDA even if it's a small game? It fits the requirements described in the faqs : it has a third party distributer, and several reviews including Gamefaqs.

Thanks for your answers. Smiley

Hey Timorite and welcome.

It should definitely be possible to submit this game to SDA.

About "how to time the run", it appears to me that it makes sense to have an "Individual Level" table for the challenge mode.
From the knowledge base:
Quote:
For some games, it makes sense to track times for individual levels (IL). Usually, this is the case if the game is separated into sections that can be individually selected and are independent of each other (For instance, no status affects or equipment carry over between levels.)[...]
Some games have timed minigames that can be competed in isolated from the rest of the game. These may qualify as an additional categories for games that already have a 'proper' run.
(See here: https://kb.speeddemosarchive.com/Rules#Categories)

So all challenges would be timed separately.
Thanks for your answer. It makes sense, I'll speedrun all the challenges individually too. Although, some of them are really short when you know what to do, and one has a fixed duration. Speedrunning the whole thing until we get the "new area unlocked" message would maybe seem more appropriate. I don't know. Anyway I'll summit both. Smiley
