So i saw that this game was in the speedrun request thread and considered of doing a speedrun of it.
In a way, i find this game entertaining and im sure it is 'speedrun material'.
Personally, i think this game should be played on a console and not with a PC. But since i dont have it in a other version i will use my computer.

But before i go any deeper into the game i want to hear if there is a intrest to it.
Would you like to see a speedrun of Enter the Matrix?
Thread title:
give me your eyes!!!
Yeah, why not.
It was enjoyable while the concept lasted.

Oh shi... I guess you're going to miss those couple of levels out which were the only fun parts of the game...

Still, I'd watch it!  Grin

Speed is the key.
Go for it.  Wink

I played the X-box version a long time ago... I'll be sure to watch this.

This would be a nice run to watch, one of my favouritegames altough reviews were quite bad :-/
Are you going to do it with both characters and on which difficulty?
And what about unlocking the samurai sword which is available after you finish the hacking? It's not cheating, just a bonusweapon in the game, I suppose  Roll Eyes and it would speed things up with agents and vampires  Smiley

I guess the Samurai sword would be in a separate category...

Wow, I'm not sure I actually expected this to be suggested.

First, for those that are looking in here, seeing the note about the hacking and thinking something fishy's going on, let me explain.  In the main menu of the game, there is an option listed as 'Hacking'.  It is essentially a minigame where you can unlock a number of secrets in the game by typing in the right commands (I say 'typing' because I have the PC version of the game; it might be somewhat different for the consoles).

Second, the note on the Samurai Sword: I'd have personally considered a run with it to be a sort of "New Game +" run (someone remind me if it's possible to use this part of the special 'hacking' feature of the game without fully beating the game first - I'm under the impression it isn't).  Meaning, I recommend doing a run without it before doing a run with it.

Now, for some other notes:

-Are you going to go through Niobe's storyline or Ghost's storyline?  The fact there's actually interest in this game might convince me to do a run of the storyline you don't pick.

-What's going to be the difficulty level of your run?

-I suggest limiting the use of Focus to when it is crucial, not simply using it all the time.  There are areas, though, where an unnecessary use of Focus actually saves time (I think one of the 'post office' levels allows you to use a well-placed Focus jump to skip a rather annoying, though small, portion of the level, for instance).
Very glad to read this intrest Cheesy

I think you need to have finished the storyline with one of the characters before you can unlock the sword in the Hacking minigame. Also, (i think) you need to load the finished saved game to be able to use it.

Aqua, it was my intention to complete the storyline with both characters, Niobe and Ghost. But if you want and have a intrest of doing a speedrun of this game aswell, we could split it up.
I would prefer Ghost because i have played some with him now and it was in the start my plan to complete his storyline first. But if are an expert on Ghost i could go with Niobe.

What shortcuts are there in the post office that you were talking about ?

I dont know yet which level of difficulty, but im thinking it would be Hard.
Ah, matrix-game speedrun. Sweet Grin

I've played the x-box version, and realyzed that it wasn't for me... ehe.. but it'd be fun to see the speedrun.

And yes:   ( Grin I just love it)

Regarding the shortcut in the Post Office: I'll get back to you on that one with a video, once I can replace my audio cables and possibly my speakers (which are both going on the fritz).  Until then, you know that area where you have to be high up to avoid the tear gas?  You can jump across the room to the other high-up spot, but only if you use a Focus jump.  Some people might not think of it as a shortcut because it's somewhat well known, but trust me, it is.

Also, I perform better in Niobe's storyline than I do in Ghost's, so I'd rather do the Niobe run.  Hard mode ought to be interesting in either case, particularly the fight in the plane in Niobe's storyline.

I should note that Focus is HUGELY limited in Hard mode, and I'm not sure you're going to be able to just run by EVERYONE.  I recommend the running kick if they get in your way though (although I don't recall offhand whether Ghost's variant is as effective).

Anyway, a hard mode run would probably be a one-segment-per-individual-level deal.
Oh yeah, that shortcut i know of. But after the jump and i walk on the vents they collapse so i fall off, just need to figure out avoid that.

Yeah, in Hard mode a segmented run would be the deal. Thought in Normal mode i think a SS run would work fine.
Hows it going Aqua ?

I think i will be going for a SS run in Normal mode.
