Hello there, this is my first post in this forum and I have read that I needed permission to do a speed run so that I can submit one. Here's a list of speed runs I want to do. They are all NTSC-U.
*=really want to do
*Resident Evil 4 wii edition  (I want to beat the record http://speeddemosarchive.com/ResidentEvil4.html#SpecialsSS)
*Silent Hill Homecoming
Resident Evil UC
Gears of War
Halo 3 [Legendary mode] (coop)
Super Mario Bros NES
Megaman X or Maverick Hunter X
*Megaman X4
Legend of Zelda Link to the past
*pokemon Puzzle League Challenge (S.HARD)
and more if I can think of one or claim a bounty but later in the future. Also sorry if I posted in the wrong section
Thread title:
where did you read that? just do it. make sure you've read the rules, submission info etc (linked from the home page) and posted a quality test though.

He's probably talking about that  "Do NOT send us the run until we ask for it" or such line in the submission page. There's no need to send such requests it until the run is done, as already stated (although you might want to harass the forum users or Mikwyuma if you're planning on doing a category that doesn't exist yet... and - as I've understood it - preferably in that order).
fuck you i wont do what you tell me
or permission to do certain categories of runs for certain games, or certain games.

You can't obsolete a GCN run with a Wii run, it's a separate category.

I don't think he's trying to obsolete it, just beat it. There is a difference. Speaking of which, I'm trying to obsolete a SNES run with a NES one. I'm wondering what the ruling is on that.
Yeah, but there are many version differences, including GCN-only sequence breaks and the Wii Edition's faster loading, so you can't really compare the two.
Back in the game!

Should be fine...they are identical, save for appearance.
Derek already beat the RE4 run(s) by a landslide and is sending it here, though he's a bit technically challenged and it's going to take a while... HSH handles all the Halo records. RE: UC (though I planned a sort-of fastest-route 1CC type of run) and Pokemon Puzzle League aren't great candidates for speedrunning.

Welcome to SDA. Lurk more, learn much.

That was also said about Pokemon Snap. And a great run was done for that.  Any game can really be speed ran. Puzzle League works because although it requires a lot of luck, great analytical skills are needed as well.

...or lots and lots of save states.
Pokemon Snap was done since it skipped all the optional bullcrap that most people went for.

Certain rail shooter lightgun games could be done too, if killing enemies faster + multiple paths = faster progression.

Shmups on the other hand, like Ikaruga, shan't be speedruns. =p
If Tetris Attack made it, I can't see why Pokemon Puzzle League can't make it as well.
O Zlda?

I concur. The latter is more or less a remake of the former, running at 60fps. If it has a story mode it's doable.
I was just wondering that if the story mode for Pokemon puzzle isn't allowed what about a spa service run. Cause that's what i'm currently doing and i find it more fun to speed run since you don't have to worry about a computer. Its more of a time attack run than anything and it combines the 2D and 3D levels in one.
HELLO!
Yeah I don't see why PPL isn't runnable when SDA has accepted Tetris Attack, at all.

Just remember, High Speed Halo is a resource, not a be-all end-all of Halo speedrunning. There are records there that are wrong, and it's got its own problems.
Pointless bump, look at the dates, lock please.
