Obey the Daleks or be Exterminated! Riiiiiiight...
I've been doing a SDA-submittable Hexen speedrun, and when I played back my Guardian of Steel segment, I notice that there is a bit of static noise in it, likely from the sound system itself.

There's a bit of static coming from the normal sound, but the problem here is that the Guardian of Steel segment took so many attempts (about 60+) to do, and I despise that level, and also because I'm up to the fourth Seven Portals visit segment.  Would it be advisable to redo the Guardian of Steel segment over again, or should I just continue from the latest current segment of the run?
Thread title:
do you have a recording (can be in the segment itself) of "silence" i.e. just the buzzing noise by itself? if so then the buzzing can easily be filtered out in cool edit pro - i do this for 99% of runs submitted on vhs to remove the hiss.

Actually, only the game sounds sound static at times, and it's most likely caused by playing inside the game for so long on Windows ME (I'm using it's Command prompt since it's the last version with true DOS game support).

The music is not effected because I have the music set to General MIDI.

Sounds start to deteriorate when playing so long, and eventually don't play anymore, resulting in a restart.

I'll post a clip of the sound for the entire segment to see what I mean.

doesn't sound that bad to me ... but then again i have no experience with the game.

Well, since you didn't notice the problem in sound, I will continue from the current segment anyways.

The run is being done in a way that it will continue to flow normally, and I'm recording on DVD, since there's no way to record DOS games on a computer.

Thanks for your opinion on the sound.  I'll keep on going from the latest current segment then.

P.S.:  Sometimes the sound problem in Hexen occurs where it plays sounds slower and more staticy at times, and I have to restart the computer I'm recording on to stop the problem from occurring.
