Isn't it cute?

I'm thinking about trying this for my first speed run. I no it would be tough, but I can do about an hour for a game without emeralds, and if I'm really lucky I can get down to about 50 minutes. Does that seem reasonable for a speed run?

Don't have Bit Torrent. How can I run a .gmv file? I've tried everything on their website. But I can't find step by step instructions. :-[

There are some brief instructions at the top of this page.

Basically, you want the .gmv file, a good ROM of the game, and this version of the GENS emulator. If you have all three of those you should be good to go.

I'm going to copy over what I posted in another topic.

I've just completed a Sonic 2 speedrun on an emulator as part of a tournament. All legitimate, of course, but I understand that it'll never be hosted here. However, maybe it'd inspire people to play a Sonic 2 run on a console and get it up here.

I'll post links to the emulator, ROM and video file when the tournament deadline passes. Don't want people stealing my strats, do I? Wink

EDIT: Well, the tournament's over. Myself, and the team, won. ^_^

Unfortunately, being on an emulator, it'll never be hosted here. But if you can pull those strategies off it'd look pretty damn good here.

I never linked to the ROM itself. That link was merely to a distributor of ROMs, and I've been told elsewhere that that was okay.

Also, NintenDan, you're damn right. Go watch it already!

Come on guys! Someone must send a speedrun of this game in. I have beat this game myself in 55 minutes on Mega drive (the european version wich runs slower then genesis). do a sub 50 run and send it. make "the ball rollin" I´ve heard about some guy who beat it in somwhere around 35 - 45 minutes. But he wasn´t satisfied with the run. But come on. I should be glad if someone show a sub 50 run here... PLEASE. Maybee I should make a run My self. But i think it should be pretty bad Tongue

It'll be my first run, so don't get hopes up too much. Wink

EDIT: Did some practicing. I can pull of the shortcut in Wing Fortress. But I cannot kill that boss without dying once! I'm also having trouble with Chemical Plant Act 2, Oil Ocean Act 1, and Hill Top Zone in it's entirety. Metal Sonic goes down simply enough, but Robo-Robotnick (As I'm fond of calling him) doesn't want to be hit on the back! I just can't do it right! I managed to hit him from the front while he wasn't bent over once. But it looks so much cooler when you kill him without him even attacking! Can anyone help with anything?
