Some shameless local advertisment for SDA

Back in the game!

Here is the page from the local paper. I was too lazy to rename the file Roll Eyes

Aside from the misspelling of "pokeMAN" and the fact that they got my "Elite 4 Round 2" time wrong by 3 minutes (slower), I'm hoping it'll generate some local interest in SDA.

Also, I'm going to be talking to the committee/board of directors/whatever the fuck they call themselves for Relay for Life (the cancer research organization) about possibly making a live attempt at beating marshmallow's Super Mario Bros. 3 100% run that's currently hosted, with a cover charge as admission (fundraiser purposes only). With any luck, I'll have the final product from this as a submission to SDA as a bonus, but either way, they'll get their money's worth, since I'll guarantee that I can play faster than anyone here, period (and it's for a good cause besides)

I think we need a section on the site where we collect all the newspaper clippings and that sort of thing. Maybe the page would detail magfest and other places SDA has gathered, like a general "SDA in the news" thing, but I think a few members have been featured in the news in some form now. It's a good thing...

Lol, that wasn't necessary.

But I like this idea. It can only give SDA and speedrunning in general more credibility. I second the motion for a newspaper/TV section about our runners Smiley

When and where will the live speedrun for Relay For Life take place? I would like to attend if possible. I have done Relay For Life with my huge ass family for a long time and once for school.

Having SDA and speedruns in general in the news is awesome; you know what our mothers always say "video games dont amount to anything." Well this is one more way of proving them wrong.

Good job getting sda and yourself in the news! And now you are going to do a "real" speedrun (unlike the Zelda, Mario, and Pokeman marathons of before, not to insult said marathons) for a good cause? Double awesome. I second (third?) the idea of a sda in the press thread, for whatever my opinion is worth. Hope it's unlocked if its made...
