I did feel though that the two jumps into NPCs were less intuitive to get when watched, but the point of that was to demonstrate  the theorycraft that their line of sight is a cone and if you jump correctly you should never have to wait on a mob.

I keep making progress, but I keep finding new bugs to play with. So, I'm trying to take my time =)
Strange days, incredible days
The Teaser video comes up with a 404 for me Sad
Fixed. I must've moved it by accident. =)
Found a new trick in "Two to Tango" which allows for a rather nice skip of roughly 15-20 seconds worth of the level. Also I determined I can't find a way to abuse the "break the generator early" glitch because I can't trigger the cannon without the keys.

Found two new skips on "The Lair of The Beast".  Also decided to finally move on and start toying with the panda king levels

Too bad there are no video game companies in my college town. Maybe I could get a quality assurance position with the rate and bulk I've been finding in this game =P

I also found a shortcut on the "save Carmelita" level right before the hacking level. The only catch for this shortcut though is that I *may* want to have a lucky charm just in case.
Hey guys :-)  Registered an account here just for this thread (though I'll probably hit up the Braid thread too).

I love this game, and I can't wait to get home and see some of the videos you've posted.  Very patiently awaiting a full run :-)  I'm an avid Doom speedrunner myself, and I always love looking at speedruns of other games just to see what techniques people have.
My feelings on The Demon Rush
At first I was wary of whether all of these skips you were talking about were real or not, QuestionMark, but now you have converted me to the light. Shocked

Can't wait to see the final run, I'm sure it will be great.
Thanks guys for your comments, they are really encouraging =)

I'm starting to wind down on this project I guess you could say. I think its getting to the point of simply putting my paths together and eventually getting the run recorded, or in other words I'm pretty much done with the planning portion I think. Hopefully I'll be getting my mac back soon so that I'll be able to immediately try recording once I think I'm ready rather than having to keep in practice until I eventually get it back.

I've started playing with the idea of what game I may want to do next =P I've been thinking I may need to blow the dust off of "Beyond Good and Evil", because I noticed the current run (at least up to what I've watch so far of it) seemed like a play through that didn't really exploit any bugs in the game. I know of one or two things in it and I think I could improve it =) I ain't touching it though until I have Sly Cooper submitted for verification, and take a bit of time off to play through both Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix Plus =D

Will update this as usual as I progress =)
Just watched your tricks video... O_O  Nice work!

Can't wait for the full run :-)
Found two new skips on the panda king levels today. After I practice a few more of the panda king's levels and feel confident enough about the final boss, I may start trying to do entire segments without mistakes (do all of Raleigh in one sitting, do all of Mugshot in one sitting, etc.) until I think I can try putting them all together into a single segment.

I'm really hoping my tutorial stage skip will be less temperamental if I practice it more as well. It may take a loooong time if I have to reset the game each time it doesn't work assuming it stays as temperamental as it is (in my trick video I used a charm to speed up the process).
Holy christ, this is going to be single-segment?

*drool*
The current plan is for this to be in a single segment =)
I love YaBB 1G - SP1!
Great ! SS runs are so epic, I cant wait to watch that.
Good luck with practicing.
I'm currently estimating my run at about an 1 hour and 40 minutes. However, I'm going by save times on my memory card which means mistakes included.

I think I've decided my goal is to get my single segment time under 1 hour and 30 minutes. I think that this is a pretty good time, especially when you consider that cut scenes in this game can not be skipped =)
I haven't made much progress unfortunately in terms of finding ways to shorten the time. So, while it may be a little bit disappointing for me to not get sub 1:30, I'm instead going to just go for sub 1:40 and start filming.

I used to let arbitrary speedrun time estimates in multiples of 5 bother me, but now I can say, realistically, they mean nothing. Just look at LeCourer's Super Mario 64 70-star run's time of 1:01:xx (as opposed to sub-hour). Quality will easily outshine the desire of a "pretty" running time. Smiley

Still doing run attempts, been busy and I'm hoping to finish this run before exams start. Been playing sly cooper for the last 12 hours and the first boundry glitch is a pain to pull off on the first attempt. I need to do hundreds of resets just so I can do one attempt past the tutorial stage. I need a drink...
Waiting hurts my soul...

This is kind of how I feel with Jak and Daxter.  Most of my attempts end in the first 20 minutes.  I'm not pulling off any tricky glitches, but 100 times starting over just to get a good run going is painful.  Good luck with your run.
Thanks =) I may end up just saying forget this one trick and churn out a run without it. It saves perhaps 2-3 minutes but its a pain in the ass to get it to work.
Waiting hurts my soul...
If it's really that tricky, maybe save it for a segmented run.  Up to you though, 2 - 3 minutes savings is pretty big.  Like I said, good luck.
Unfortunately I didn't get a successful run before my summer started. What this means is I had to put the run on hold temporarily because I refuse to make run attempts while dealing with my internship and summer traveling.

I still plan on making this run - I already have the routes and everything together. However I felt that due to my internship I must go on hiatus until school starts up again.

Figured I'd at least mention this because I know Tri-hex is looking to eventually update his segmented run and to let people who have shown interest in the run know it is still in progress - just currently on hold. I'm still very excited to reveal a lot of my tricks in Sly Cooper, and am still confident I will accomplish a successful run eventually.
Complete. Global. Saturation.
So, this run is on hold until September then? If so, this would probably sum up my reaction perfectly. But if you work your best on speeduns at other times, it's obviously best to wait. I'm just really looking forward to this run.
And judging from the jobs tri-hex is working, I don't think we'll be seeing anything from him at all anytime soon either. We're still waiting for him to save us from the current Yoshi's Island speedrun Undecided
Its on hold till mid-August =)

I am playing Sly Cooper still, but very lightly. Its mainly on hold because the coding takes up the majority of my time. I feel that if I'm trying to pump out the run during my internship, that it will cause me to not get enough work done to finish my project in time.

Theres also some technical reasons, for instance all thats here is a PS3. I'm not able to record a PS3. =)
This run is no longer on hold. I decided I'm not going to do the police skip and may instead do a segmented version of the run later down the line featuring this bug - or perhaps I'll just pass it on to Tri-Hex if he ever decides to improve his segmented run. The other option is to do a second "death abuse" run to see if I can squeeze out a minute or two by quickly getting a charm at the beginning and attempting to abuse it that way.

That saddens me. I was really looking forward to seeing what you had expanded upon since your teaser trailer. Sad Your teaser displayed timing and ideas for skipping that I simply don't see in my perspective. If you decide to officially drop doing this, it'll be added again to my queue of crap to do (because I'm embarrassed to death with the current turd up), but I wouldn't get around to it for a while.

Glitch-wise, you had me blown away in your trailer. By comparison, all I have is a couple of hours of dicking around in Mugshot's Map trying to see if I can glitch from the crane and somehow end up inside Mugshot's lair; thus, skipping 3 levels. So far, I can grip the crane, and hop into unintended infinite fall space behind the level near it, but nothing useful as far as getting into his lair.

I'd still love to see you give this awesome game some speedrunning justice though! Smiley
